Chapter 681
Three tall figures strolled in from outside, and the room seemed to light up a bit. It was Jackson, Gray, and Mike. Each had their own vibe, but they all had this strong presence.
The young stars around Bianca couldn't hide their excitement. Their eyes sparkled with ambition.
Star's and Jenny's faces went stiff. Jenny shrank back, feeling uneasy for some reason.
Star pinched her fingertips, remembering the last time she saw Jackson four months ago. He was leaving the Price Mansion with Lillian.
Star was really worried Jackson might still harbor feelings for Lillian and would embarrass her in front of everyone.
One of the young stars who had just been sucking up to her suddenly pushed her excitedly. "It's Mr. Frane. He must've heard about your trouble and came here to your aid. You should go speak with him."
Star took a couple of steps forward, trying to keep her cool. She forced a smile and walked towards Jackson. "Jackson, why are you here? Did you hear that Lillian and I are both here? We had a little misunderstanding."
She hoped Jackson would ask about the misunderstanding, showing he cared about her.
But Jackson acted like he didn't even see her. He walked right past her without a second glance.
Star's body stiffened, her face turning an ashen shade of pale. She didn't dare to look back, already feeling the shocked gazes on her.
Jackson quickly walked over to Lillian, bent slightly, and asked with concern, "Are you hurt? Have you been drinking? Why is your face so red?"
He reached out, wanting to touch her flushed face. Lillian stepped back politely, avoiding his touch, and nodded towards Star. "Mr. Frane, you're worried about the wrong person. Ms. Price is over there."
Star turned around, afraid Lillian would say something more damaging. She walked over and said, "Lillian, Jackson cares about you. Are you still mad at him because of me..."
Before she could finish, Jackson frowned and cut her off, "We're talking. What does this have to do with you?"
Star's face flushed, a rush of shock and embarrassment washing over her. She could sense the eyes of everyone around them.
Jackson, not even noticing her, looked back at Lillian and said, "Why would I care about her? I have nothing to do with her."
The words struck Star like a physical blow. Her face burned with humiliation, and her eyes stung with tears she struggled to hold back.
Lillian looked up at Jackson, and he gazed deeply at her.
Lillian was a bit surprised. Jackson had never been willing to embarrass Star in public before. If he had been like this earlier...
But thinking too much was useless. Lillian no longer needed his statements and protection.
Lillian blinked lightly, smiled distantly, and said, "But Mr. Frane, I have nothing to do with you either."
Lillian didn't even notice the weird silence around them.
Everyone was stunned by Jackson's attitude towards Star and how different he was with Lillian.
It sure didn't look like Jackson was head over heels for Star or planning to marry her anytime soon.
It was pretty clear Jackson was still hung up on his ex-wife Lillian, while Lillian seemed totally over it and didn't want to look back.
Wasn't the word on the street that Jackson was forced into marrying Lillian?
But here was Lillian, openly disrespecting Jackson. How ungrateful could she be? How could Jackson put up with a woman like that?
They were all waiting to see Lillian get what was coming to her. But then, Jackson did the unexpected. Instead of getting mad, he smiled slightly and said, "Yeah, you have nothing to do with me, but I unilaterally have something to do with you."
Lillian chuckled, "What did you just say?"
She couldn't wrap her head around Jackson's words.
Jackson raised an eyebrow. "I unilaterally want to take care of you and be good to you."
His voice was calm, not loud, but clear enough for everyone to hear. It sounded like a public confession.
Lillian wasn't as thick-skinned as Jackson. She immediately turned her face away, frowning slightly.
Shirley, seeing Lillian's reaction and worried Jackson might deceive her again, raised her voice. "Mr. Frane, you make it sound nice, but why does Jenny keep saying she got dumped?"
Jenny startled by the sudden attention, had no time to react. Seeing things go south, she instinctively stepped back, trying to slip away, but Jackson's sharp gaze pinned her in place, freezing her mid-step.
"Come here," Jackson said coldly.
Jenny shrank her neck but didn't dare disobey. She moved to Jackson's side, glaring fiercely at Shirley.
Shirley raised an eyebrow. "Why are you glaring at me? Didn't you just say that? Let me think, what else did you say? Oh right, you..."
Jenny felt Jackson's gaze on her was so cold it could pierce her.
Afraid Shirley would spill more, Jenny reached out to slap Shirley. "Shut up!"
Shirley reached out, ready to grab Jenny's hand, but someone pulled her back, protecting her in their arms.
Shirley's body stiffened. Looking up, she saw Gray's face. Thinking of the trouble Bianca caused, she was furious and stomped heavily on Gray's foot.
Her high heels drove into his flesh with the force of a spear. Gray let out a pained yelp, "Shirley, you're so ungrateful!"
Gray didn't expect that after helping her, Shirley would immediately retaliate.
Bianca immediately stepped forward, supporting Gray. "Gray, are you okay?"
She then angrily said to Shirley, "Are you blind? Where are you stepping?"
Shirley looked at them leaning together and laughed. "Shouldn't you ask your man first if he's blind? Where is he putting his hands? Does he think he can touch my waist whenever he wants?"
