Chapter 194 It Was Enough Now

Jackson smiled faintly as he ruffled Lillian's long hair.

"Alright. Did you hurt your teeth? Can you forgive me?" he asked.

Lillian let go of him. Hearing Jackson's amused voice, she felt truly weak.

With a few apologies and gentle coaxing, most of the grievances in her heart dissipated, and she no longer harbored any resentment towards him.

She lowered her head, feeling embarrassed to look up, and softly pushed him away, saying, "You should take a hot shower now."

She intended to leave, but Jackson held her hand and didn't let go, asking, "Are you still angry? Can you forgive me this time?"

Lillian felt it was meaningless. What difference would forgiveness make when they were heading for divorce anyway?

She raised her head, looking at him with red eyes. "Didn't you say we wouldn't see each other again in the future? Does it really matter to you whether I forgive you or not?"

Jackson frowned as he said, "Of course, it matters."

Lillian felt an urge to cry. "Then I won't blame you. Can you let me go now?"

Her reaction was overly indifferent, which made Jackson feel somewhat choked.

Lillian pushed him away forcefully, saying, "I really don't blame you."

Jackson had no obligation to save her.

Even if he cared so much now, it was out of his feelings for her as a little sister.

Lillian thought that if there were another choice between her and Wendy, he would probably still choose Wendy.

Nevertheless, his reaction today did bring her a lot of relief.

She didn't want to hold any grudges against him after all. This was enough for them now.

Lillian left the bathroom, closing the door behind Jackson.

She didn't see Jackson standing there without moving for a long time.

After a moment, he turned around and leaned against the wall, feeling somewhat powerless.

With a hint of frustration and helplessness, Jackson raised his hand to tousle his damp hair, then turned on the shower suddenly, letting the water droplets fall on him.

Lillian descended the stairs. The villa was quiet, and there was not a soul in sight.

Perhaps everyone had been called away by Lyra to give her and Jackson some alone time.

Feeling somewhat helpless, Lillian went to the kitchen to make hot chocolate for Jackson.

She carried the tray back to the bedroom just as Jackson emerged from the bathroom.

He was only wearing a towel around his waist. He was drying his hair with one hand, with the other holding a wallet and a phone still dripping with water.

Lillian felt uneasy when she thought back to the crying in the bathroom just now.

She was too embarrassed to look at him, her gaze falling on the phone in his hand.

"Your phone must be out of order. Since you knew Lyra did it on purpose, you should have taken out your phone before going into the water."

Jackson tossed the phone and wallet into the low cabinet, saying, "I didn't have the time."

He had seen the video on the way home, and upon entering the house, he heard Lyra saying that Lillian had fallen into the water while drunk.

At that moment, he lost his composure, not even bothering to take off his coat or retrieve his phone.

He went into the water twice but couldn't find her, and only then did he come to his senses.

However, Lillian didn't quite understand Jackson's meaning. Feeling uncomfortable all over, she bent down to place the hot chocolate on the table and said, "I made hot chocolate for you. Drink it. I'm leaving."

With his disheveled appearance, she didn't know how to face him.

Jackson didn't say anything or stop her. Lillian walked quickly to the door, pulling it hard, but it wouldn't budge.

She frowned, twisted the doorknob, and pushed with force, but the door remained shut.

She stood there in confusion, hearing footsteps behind her as Jackson approached.

"Lyra's usual trick. If we're not reconciled today, none of us can leave."

Lillian fell silent.
