Chapter 864
Anouk jolted awake, fear gripping her as she licked her dry, cracked lips and cried out.
"I won't go against Lillian anymore! I was wrong! Please, let me go. If you let me go, I'll leave the country right away. I'll leave the Lawson family, and I won't ever try to compete with Lillian again. I swear, once I'm out of the country, I'll never come back. Please, I'm begging you."
Her eyes were filled with terror and regret, and her wrists were raw and bloody from the ropes.
But the physical pain was nothing compared to the psychological torment. She was truly broken.
Anouk looked at Harry with pleading eyes, but he didn't respond.
Harry flicked a few drops of water onto Anouk's face, watching her scream in terror with her eyes closed.
He sneered, "Now you realize this? Too late!"
Anouk's eyes were red with fever. "I'm burning up, I can't hold on any longer. I'm going to die. Please, let me go. I'll do anything you want..."
She was at her limit. Before being thrown into the lake, she had already been interrogated by the police for twenty-four hours straight.
Anouk's head felt like it was going to explode. She wanted to collapse.
But there was water everywhere, and she was terrified of it. She had to force herself to stand.
"Anything?"
"Yes, please."
Anouk lifted her eyes, trying to give Harry a weak, seductive smile.
She would rather give herself to him than endure this torture in the water.
Her feet and legs felt like they were rotting, the pain turning numb.
But she didn't realize how ghastly she looked, like a horror movie ghost, her smile stiff and ugly.
Even if Anouk had been beautiful, Harry had no interest in someone so greedy and malicious.
Harry mockingly flicked his half-smoked cigarette into the pool, standing up.
"You want to come up? It's not impossible."
Anouk's eyes lit up slightly, but the next second, Harry continued.
"Tell me who told you to contact Mary, how you sabotaged the brakes to harm Mrs. Frane, and I'll let you up, give you food, and let you go."
Anouk's body shook. How could she say that?
Admitting it would mean confessing to trying to kill Lillian. Even if she left here, she'd end up in prison.
And if she implicated Ruby, Ruby wouldn't let her live.
"I don't know, I don't know anything."
Harry laughed coldly, nodding.
"Are you still hoping someone will come to save you? Stop dreaming. You're already abandoned! Your foster mother is busy scheming for the Kelly family fortune, and your foster father is worse than an animal. He doesn't even care about his own daughter. How much do you think he cares about you?"
Anouk had gone missing, and Ruby and Kenneth had only filed a report, sending people to look for her symbolically.
They weren't putting in any real effort, and Harry sighed, looking at Anouk.
"Don't be foolish. Do you really think Ruby loves you like a daughter? If she did, she wouldn't have involved you in such a murder plot. She brought you back from abroad to use you as a tool."
"You've been missing for so long, has she found you? She hasn't even asked our boss about you once."
"Do you think if you died, she'd go to war with the Frane family for you? Even if she did, what good would it do you if you're already dead?"
Harry scoffed, splashing another handful of water onto Anouk's face.
Watching her shiver and grit her teeth, he sneered.
"Think it over. We're not killing you now because Mrs. Frane is still in critical condition. If something happens to her, Mr. Frane won't let you live another minute! By then, you won't even have the chance to redeem yourself."
With that, Harry turned and walked away, leaving Anouk trembling and struggling.
---
Hilltop Mansion.
"Still no sign of Anouk?"
Ruby, looking exhausted and pale, asked Kenneth as he returned from outside.
Kenneth shook his head, his expression sorrowful.
"I'm afraid Anouk's chances don't look good."
Ruby's eyes reddened, and she sat up, leaning against the headboard, tears falling.
"What about the police? Do they have any updates?"
