Chapter 262 He Decided to Leave
Lyra sighed, nodded, and said, "Alright, since you have decided, I will support you."
Lillian's tears immediately welled up. She leaned her head on Lyra's shoulder to avoid being seen by her. She smiled and said, "Grandma, thank you for your support. I will give you video calls often."
Lyra patted Lillian's hand lovingly. She had agreed. How could she not? The scene at the hospital today was clear to her. Perhaps letting Lillian leave was truly for her good. She only hoped that Jackson, who was proud and never-bowing, would not regret it in the future!
"Go on, my dear. I have always believed that you didn't do it as they said. You are not that kind of person. I knew your intentions, so I wanted to fulfill your promise and let Jackson marry you. You grew up together, and your bond was deep. I thought that you could have been happy, supporting each other through life. Jackson is cold by nature, but you are meticulous and warm-hearted. With you by his side, I felt at ease. But I haven't expected things to turn out this way. Now, I don't know if my decision back then was right or wrong."
As Lillian listened, her eyes were filled with bitterness, and her heart was in turmoil. She and Jackson were bound by a fateful relationship, and the result turned out to be a bad one.
However, she never regretted it because, to her, a fateful relationship was also destiny, and the bitter result was also a result.
Only by experiencing it herself could she know the taste, and it was enough to savor for a lifetime.
Moreover, she did not come away empty-handed. Jackson had given her a baby.
It was a pity that Lyra longed to hold a great-grandchild, but she could not tell her now.
Lillian felt guilty again as she said, "Grandma, don't say that. I have always been grateful to you. Thank you."
"You have suffered too much these years. I am old now and can no longer protect you. Go on. I believe you will find your place. If you ever get tired, remember that this will always be your home, and you are always welcome back, is it alright?" Lyra said as she stroked Lillian's hair.
Lillian's nose was so sore that she could hardly bear it, but tears still wet Lyra's sweater. She nodded heavily, thinking of how she came to Lyra's side at the age of eight. Lyra gave her home again. She protected and loved her, treating her like her granddaughter. Now that Lyra was old, it was time for her to be cared for, but she made Lyra worry constantly. Now, she was going abroad. Not only could she not stay by Lyra's side, but she also made her continue to worry. She felt even more guilty and distressed.
"You must listen to the doctor. Don't secretly hide your medicine anymore. And don't eat things in the middle of the night that the doctor forbids." Lillian said to Lyra.
"I know." Lyra agreed.
"Take good care of your health. You will live a long life and watch me step onto the biggest international stage," Lillian said.
"Of course. I will wait to see you become a world-class dancer, making all the grandmothers in the world envy me," Lyra smiled and said.
"Then we have a deal?" Lillian asked.
Lillian made a promise to Lyra.
Jackson had showered, applied burn ointment, changed his clothes, and came over. Through the crack in the door, he saw this scene. He did not go in to disturb them, closed the door gently, and turned to go downstairs.
Terry was already waiting. Seeing him come down, he stepped forward and said, "Mr. Frane, Ms. Sivan is demanding to see you."
Wendy had completed the amniocentesis half an hour after Lillian and the others left and were wheeled out of the operating room. The procedure did not require anesthesia. When she came out and saw no one waiting for her, she started to make a fuss.
Jackson nodded. "Let's go."
They got into the car, and as it drove out of the Frane family's private area, Terry glanced at the rearview mirror. Sure enough, a plain black car was following them from a distance.
Terry frowned and said, "Mr. Frane, perhaps we should have Andres bring more people for security. That woman has been following us for days. She's here for revenge, and I'm worried something might happen."
