Chapter 427
She tried calling again, but Jackson's phone was still off.
"Lilian, are you really going to trust him?" Shirley asked.
Jackson had promised Lilian he'd be there, and his words echoed in her mind.
Lilian put down the phone, smiled, and nodded. "Let's go ahead with the wedding."
"But what if he doesn't show up for the wedding tomorrow?" Shirley asked, worried.
"This is the last time I'll wait for him. If he doesn't come, it's fine," Lilian said. She had waited so long, and this would be her final answer.
Heavy rain poured down, sweeping across the mountains. A branch, unable to bear the pressure, fell towards Jackson.
"Mr. Frane, watch out!" Harry shouted, rushing forward, but it was too late.
Jackson dodged in time, avoiding a head injury, but his shoulder took a hit, causing him to stagger.
"Mr. Frane, are you hurt?" Harry asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. Are we ready for takeoff?" Jackson asked, looking up.
The rain blurred everything around him, and despite wearing a raincoat, he looked disheveled.
Three days ago, Jackson had received news that Star was likely taken to a remote mountainous area. Fearing that the rescue might encounter difficulties, he decided to go personally.
While finding and rescuing Star went smoothly, the heavy rain and blocked roads caused delays. Jackson had to run a long way to find a signal and make the call, all the while worrying about Lillian.
Thinking about Lilian's anger on the phone, Jackson felt anxious but was determined to make it up to her tomorrow.
He shouted, "Harry, at the wedding tomorrow, I must get completely drunk!"
He was about to marry the woman he loved and become a father. Feeling happy, Jackson thought it was worth celebrating.
"Alright! We'll party all night," Harry shouted back.
They hurried to the makeshift helipad, where the helicopter's lights cut through the darkness.
One of the team members rushed over, looking anxious.
"What happened?" Jackson asked.
"Mr. Frane, Miss Price has a high fever and just fainted."
Jackson's expression shifted to alarm. He quickly entered the helicopter and saw Star lying there, flushed and unconscious.
He touched her forehead, feeling the abnormal heat.
"Quick, head to the nearest hospital," Jackson ordered urgently.
