Chapter 783

Jackson took a step to the side while holding her, "The floor is covered in shards, don't get hurt."

Lillian glanced down. The two pots of cacti that had been on the balcony had fallen to the ground and shattered into pieces.

She pursed her lips in annoyance, "So why were you imitating a cat and knocking things over? You ruined the plants, they're all broken!"

Thinking about the recent scare, Lillian was in no mood to be kind.

Jackson, however, looked slightly hurt, his thin lips parting. "Why are you mad at me? I'm broken too, you can feel it if you don't believe me."

Jackson pressed her hand to his chest.

Her hand was met with the warmth of his overly hot, dry palm. Jackson's hands were well-defined and elegant, looking like they belonged to someone who had never done hard labor.

But in reality, Jackson's palms were not smooth; they were rough, contrasting sharply with the softness of her hand.

Due to years of working out, shooting, horseback riding, and playing golf, Jackson's palms had thick calluses, which always felt invasive when they covered her hand.

Yet under her palm, she could feel his heart beating violently, incredibly clear.

It seemed both invincible and soft enough to be within her reach.

Lillian was slightly stunned. She had been very angry just a moment ago, but now all that anger seemed to dissipate.

"I didn't know the president of the Frane Group could imitate a cat so well."

And he did it so convincingly that even Oberon and Flora were fooled.

Jackson looked at her, his thin lips curving slightly.

"You said there was a cat, I couldn't expose you."

Lillian chuckled, "Then do it again, let me hear."

Jackson raised an eyebrow, "Hold on tight."

"What?" Before Lillian could react, Jackson's right hand, which was supporting her bottom, let go.

Lillian's body sank slightly, and she instinctively tightened her grip around Jackson's waist, lifting the hand on his chest to wrap around his neck.

Jackson took out his phone from his pocket, tapped it with his finger, and two cat meows played.

So the cat meow earlier wasn't him.

Lillian clicked her tongue, "Smart move."

Jackson's eyes narrowed slightly, "Are you that worried about your family finding out about us?"

Lillian raised her chin slightly, looking proud.

"Be precise, Mr. Frane, we're not together."

Jackson's eyes darkened, his gaze sweeping down to their closely pressed upper bodies.

"Not together, yet you allow me to be this close? You're quite open."

Lillian wasn't fazed by his provocation, smiling.

"That's normal, and besides, it wasn't me who initiated it. I should ask you, Mr. Frane, we're not officially together, don't you think this is too forward? I'll have to deduct points for that!"

Jackson was taken aback by her counter, looking at her lively expression, feeling nothing but joy.

He pretended to be troubled, "That won't do, I'm already in the negative with your family. If I can't score high with you, does that mean I'll never have a chance in this lifetime?"

Jackson leaned in as he spoke, his nose gently brushing against Lillian's, his voice low and husky. "Ms. Kelly, please be kind to me."

Lillian didn't know he could be so disarming when trying to win someone over.

Her face reddened slightly, and she turned her head a bit, "From what you're saying, you want me to help you win favor with my family? Dream on!"

Jackson had made mistakes, and she could choose to forgive him and give him another chance.

But she couldn't persuade her family for Jackson, hurting their feelings.

If Jackson was sincere enough, he would have to clear up the misunderstandings and win over her family himself.

"I know, but what if your grandparents still can't accept me? Will you insist on being with me?" Jackson asked, looking at Lillian.

If he wanted to be with her, he had to get past her family.

No matter what tests he faced, he was willing to take them.

But in this matter, his opponent was Ambrose, who was raised by Oberon and Flora.

From what the two elders had said earlier, they were very satisfied with Ambrose.

Jackson wasn't entirely confident.

Lillian leaned her neck back slightly, smiling. "Don't worry, if my grandparents don't accept you, I'll definitely make you leave."

Jackson fell silent.

He knew it.

He felt a bit disappointed, but he couldn't bring himself to be angry with Lillian.

Because he knew, there was a time when Lillian had put him first.

But he had lost that Lillian.

With determination in his deep eyes, Jackson didn't know how long it would take to find the Lillian who loved him deeply again.

But he wouldn't give up. If one year wasn't enough, then two years, if two years weren't enough, then five years.

Even if it took a lifetime, he would wait!

Meanwhile, Shirley entered the bedroom to find Gray lying on the bed, staring silently at the ceiling, his expression particularly desolate.

Thinking of the doctor's diagnosis, Shirley walked up and asked.

"Are you okay? I didn't expect the collision to be so serious. The doctor asked me to check on you specifically. Don't be sad or despair, tell me exactly how bad the injury is."

Gray didn't move, instead turning over to face away from Shirley, looking utterly defeated.

"Leave me alone, I want to be by myself."

Shirley, however, directly pulled Gray up into a sitting position.

"You have to face it, Gray. Look into my eyes and tell me, are you really not okay?"

Gray stared at Shirley, "I don't know. The doctor gave me medication and told me to rest well. If in half a month it's still... then my love life is ruined by you! You have to take responsibility!"

Gray gritted his teeth, and Shirley licked her lips.

"How should I take responsibility?"

Gray's face tightened, his brows furrowed, and he said irritably. "Shirley, do you have a heart? I've been hurt this badly by you! If you were sincere, you should think of it yourself, why are you asking me?"

Shirley pursed her lips, thinking for a moment, then looked at Gray as if she had made a difficult decision.

Seeing her troubled expression, Gray was already annoyed.

A normal woman would be crying and shouting that she would take responsibility, that she would stay by his side and take care of him for life, right?

This heartless woman, Shirley, was actually thinking for so long!

Was being with him, Gray, so painful and hard to decide?

Seeing her finally make up her mind, Gray slowly exhaled, deciding to generously forgive her few seconds of hesitation.

However, the next second, Shirley said, "I'm a normal woman, and I have a strong need in that area. If you're really hurt and can't satisfy me for the rest of your life, then we shouldn't be too involved. As for your injury, I'm sorry, but I can't take responsibility."

Shirley even took two steps back as if avoiding a plague, then bowed deeply at ninety degrees.
