Chapter 585
"Toss a cushion next to the couch so she doesn't roll off."
Jackson reminded her again, and Eulalia shot back, "Oh shoot, I totally spaced on that. I'll handle it now."
There were some rustling noises on the other end, and Jackson chimed in again, "Fire up a video call."
He hung up and immediately hit Eulalia up on Facebook with a video call.
Eulalia picked up right away, like she'd done this a million times. She found a good angle, aimed the screen at the sleeping figure on the couch, and then went about her business.
Jackson was driving, sneaking peeks at the screen now and then.
On the screen, Lillian was rocking a loose white house dress, lying on her side.
Her long hair was all over half her face, and she was gently cradling her noticeably big belly, looking super peaceful.
As the car left the city, Jackson floored it and ended the video call.
Wendy was holed up in a villa on the northern edge of Nimbus City, not far from Miracalia.
Besides two servants from the Price family to handle Wendy's daily stuff, Jackson had three bodyguards keeping a tight watch on her.
Wendy couldn't leave the villa, had zero freedom or fun, and her diet was strictly controlled—all for the baby she was carrying.
During this time, she was basically just an incubator, losing all her rights.
Jackson's car rolled into the villa's courtyard, and Star was already there. She ran out, looking pale as a ghost.
"The doc said Wendy's fall was bad news. She hit her back, got hurt, and now the baby's in a bad position. It's super risky."
Jackson gave Star a quick look and walked past her.
One of the bodyguards watching Wendy came up to give the lowdown.
"How'd she fall?"
Wendy was just over eight months pregnant, not due yet. They had a doc and nurse on standby, but this threw a wrench in the works.
The bodyguard looked nervous and said, "She fell in the bathroom. We checked it out and found nothing weird. Looks like an accident. My bad, Mr. Frane."
Jackson nodded slightly, not saying much.
As he headed upstairs, a faint smell of blood hit him, and Wendy's screams were gut-wrenching.
Jackson frowned, pausing for a sec.
Just then, the doc came out of the room, looking pretty serious, and said to Jackson, "Mr. Frane, the baby's in a bad position, and natural delivery's a no-go."
"Then do a C-section. Am I the doc here? Do I need to spell it out for you?"
Jackson's tone was cold and impatient.
The doc wasn't sure what the deal was between the pregnant woman inside and Jackson, so he didn't dare to make decisions on his own.
He was sweating and replied, "But she's weak, has blood clotting issues, and there's not enough amniotic fluid. Taking her to the hospital for a C-section now is super risky. If something goes wrong..."
Star, hearing this, grabbed Jackson's arm.
"Jackson, the baby can't be harmed! They are Henry's only child."
Jackson's cold eyes swept over, his gaze icy under the hallway's fluorescent lights.
Star instinctively pulled her hand back, her eyes tearing up.
Jackson looked at the doc, his expression calm. "You're the doc! Do your job. Even if the surgery goes south, no one's blaming you."
The doc breathed a sigh of relief, nodded quickly, and went back to make arrangements.
Just then, lightning flashed and thunder roared outside, casting creepy shadows through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Jackson's heart skipped a beat with the thunder, feeling a moment of unease.
His phone rang out of nowhere, and Jackson pulled it out.
Seeing it was Harry calling, he quickly answered and walked to the end of the hallway. "What's up?"
"Mr. Frane, we got a problem. We nabbed someone in Willowbrook Village, but he wasn't Bob—he was a fake. The real Bob might still be in Miracalia and hasn't skipped town."
