Chapter 606

Gray bolted forward to catch Jackson. Even in the crappy stairwell lighting, Jackson's usually handsome mug looked ghostly pale.

"Dude, I'm good, let go."

Jackson tried to shake off the dizziness and push Gray away.

Gray held on tight, "No way, man. You need a doc, like, now. Let's bounce!"

Terry had mentioned Jackson was in a car wreck that night, too, but he hadn't seen a doctor or caught any Z's since.

If he kept this up, his body was gonna crash and burn.

"Let go!" Jackson snapped, his face twisting in anger.

Gray ignored him, and Jackson's temper flared until he finally snapped.

Next thing Gray knew, he was slammed against the wall, his cheek throbbing and frustration boiling over.

"Fine, call me a busybody!" he spat, clenching his fist as he turned away.

But then, his expression shifted.

"Jackson!"

He watched as Jackson's tall frame crumpled to the ground.

An hour later, Jackson was laid up in a hospital bed, hooked to an IV.

The doc said he had a concussion and gastric bleeding. He'd only blacked out for a bit before coming to, now trying to yank the needle out of his hand.

Gray pressed down on his shoulder, "Jackson, I checked for you. Ambrose left after a bit, and Lillian's out cold."

"Even if you go to watch over Lillian now, it won't help. Chill and get your IV. You still gotta investigate, right?"

Thinking about what needed to be done, Jackson finally calmed down. His face went from anxious to stone-cold as he muttered.

"Get Harry in here."

Seeing Jackson finally chill, Gray left the room.

After calling Harry in, he headed to Lillian's room.

He pushed the door open and saw Lillian wasn't asleep.

Shirley was holding a tablet, and Lillian was video chatting with Flora.

Flora wanted to come to the hospital, but Lillian smiled and told her not to.

Flora was older and had almost pulled an all-nighter because of her. Lillian didn't want to drag her out again.

Oberon was nearby, comforting Flora, "Ophelia needs rest now. She can hang with us once she's better."

Flora then said, "I'll whip up something tasty for Ophelia and have Ambrose bring it over."

Seeing Oberon nod, Flora perked up, clasped her hands, and mimed sleeping.

"Ophelia, get some rest."

Lillian smiled and mimicked her before ending the call.

She glanced at Gray and said to Shirley, "Shirley, I'm good here. You guys must have stuff to do, so don't hang around."

She thought Gray was there for Shirley, but Shirley shook her head.

"I'm good. No clue if I'll nail the next audition. I'm pretty free, so I'll stay with you. I gotta protect you and not give Jackson any more chances."

Gray sighed and walked to the bedside, "You can't say that. The kid's Jackson's too, and he's hurting just as much. He couldn't have known Bob would pull that stunt. When he found out, Jackson rushed back right away."
