Chapter 531
Even in upscale neighborhoods, there were usually onlookers who crossed the police line.
Lillian had contacted Shirley early on. As she came out of the Price Mansion, she saw Shirley at the front of the crowd, right by the police line.
Lillian quickly walked over, and by the time Harry drove up, Lillian was already in Shirley's car.
Harry had no choice but to follow them all the way.
Shirley naturally saw the car following hers and mocked, "Can't shake him off."
If Lillian weren't pregnant, she would have sped up and shown Harry her driving skills.
"Ignore it," Lillian said indifferently from the passenger seat.
Last night, when Lillian stayed at the Frane House, she had already called Shirley and informed her about everything that had happened.
Seeing Lillian's gloomy expression, Shirley frowned with concern. "What's wrong?" she asked. "Why is it taking them so long to arrest her? I came early hoping to see the old witch being taken away."
"Susan is dead," Lillian said solemnly. Her words made Shirley slam on the brakes.
"What? Dead?" Shirley was bewildered.
Lillian nodded. "She said she wanted to change clothes, but ended up injecting herself with drugs and left a suicide note."
Shirley took a moment to process this and then heavily slapped the steering wheel. "She deserved to die, but death was too easy for that old witch! What are those cops even doing?
"So many of them came, and they still let the prisoner die? That's negligence! And Jackson, that bastard—did he mess things up on purpose?"
Lillian turned to look at Shirley and suddenly burst into laughter.
Shirley glanced at her and asked with a puzzled look, "What's so funny?"
Lillian shook her head. "Nothing, hearing you say that makes me feel better."
Just now at the Price family, she almost thought she was too selfish and lacked empathy.
Suicide was also a way to escape punishment. Just because someone died didn't mean they deserved sympathy!
Susan's death was her own doing, and she deserved it.
She just wanted Susan to face the punishment she deserved. Now that Susan had committed suicide to escape, why should she sympathize with the person who tried to murder her and her family?
Shirley started the car again and asked with a frown. "Are you sure Star had nothing to do with this?"
Lillian pursed her lips and replied, "I don't know. Susan insisted she acted alone, and all the evidence pointed to her.
Now that Susan was dead, whether Star was involved or not, it ended here."
Susan had even prepared the poison and the suicide note in advance, and the note was a confession.
"Star better not be involved. Otherwise, with Susan taking the blame for her, won't she feel guilty?" Shirley said sarcastically.
Seeing Lillian leaning back in her seat without speaking, Shirley changed the subject. "Forget it, let's not talk about these depressing things and people! I booked a private room to celebrate your return to singlehood. Let's have some fun!"
Soon, Shirley brought Lillian to Elegance Manor.
Opening the door to the private room, Shirley stepped back to let Lillian go in first. As Lillian walked in, she heard the sound of party poppers.
A shower of golden confetti filled the air. She blinked, admiring the luxurious decorations of the room.
Balloons and flowers filled the room, and a giant, flashing sign on the front wall proclaimed "Happy Divorce, Lillian".
Standing at the door with the fireworks were two familiar faces, Barry and Nathan.
Lillian turned to look at Shirley, silently exchanging glances.
Shirley winked and then turned to make a stopping gesture at Harry, who had followed them, before slowly closing the door to the private room.
