Chapter 238 Jeffrey's Inquiry

Lillian snapped back to reality and said, "Jeffrey sneaked out of Golden Oaks Manor. He called me just now but soon lost contact. I confirmed he didn't go to the Peace Mansion and probably doesn't know my current address. I suspect he went to Central Park West, where Shirley used to live. I'm on my way to find him now, but it's quite a distance, and the traffic conditions here aren't great."

The sound of a chair being pushed rang out on Jackson's end. His voice was soothing as he said, "Alright, I got it. I'll send someone to look for him, and I'll come over to check as well. Don't worry."

Lillian breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Okay, then I'll hang up for now."

"Okay." Jackson hung up, grabbed his coat, and walked out of the office.

Terry hurried over as Jackson briskly headed towards the elevator, but Jackson said, "No need to follow."

Terry nodded. He was curious about where Jackson was going at such a late hour, but he had another matter to inquire about, so he took a few steps and asked, "Mr. Frane, Mr. Cole, and the others are still waiting for you in the meeting room."

In the evening, Jackson returned to Star Group to work overtime and had Terry call over Brian, Eric, and Aaron.

When they arrived, Jackson did not meet anyone, only instructing Terry to keep the three in the conference room and drinking cup after cup of coffee but not allowing them to use the restroom.

By now, the three directors had been there for over three hours. They looked pale and were restless.

"Let them stay until the early morning, and then they can leave," Jackson instructed calmly as he reached the elevator.

Terry nodded as he asked, " Mr. Frane, do you have any message for them?"

"If they want to know the reason, let them ask their wives," Jackson replied as he stepped into the elevator.

Terry stepped back respectfully but then suddenly remembered something and addressed Jackson inside the elevator, "Mr. Frane, you might run into Mr. Sivan downstairs."

Wendy had been sent back, and Aiden had told York of Jackson's intention to withdraw the investment for Phase Two.

York hurried to Star Group upon hearing this, but Jackson had not allowed him in.

As Jackson reached the parking lot, he encountered York.

Seeing Jackson approaching, York hurriedly rushed forward and said, "Jackson, did Wendy do something wrong out of stubbornness? She suffered a lot in her childhood, and when she returned, we spoiled her and made her more and more disobedient. I apologize on her behalf. How can you easily change your investment? "

Jackson completely ignored York, opened the car door, and got in without a word.

York anxiously tried to pull the door, but Jackson's cold gaze stopped him in his tracks. The warning in his eyes made even someone like York, who had been in the business world for years, shiver and stop his movements.

Jackson closed the door, started the car, and then lowered the window to say coldly, "Mr. Sivan, instead of facing a dead end with me, you better discipline Wendy to avoid bigger troubles."

York thought there might be some conflict between Jackson and Wendy, but Jackson's words were strong enough to be considered a warning.

As York pondered with a furrowed brow, Jackson's car had already sped out of the underground garage.

Jackson arrived earlier than Lillian and drove slowly down to the old residential area,, where he saw Jeffrey squatting by the flower bed from a distance.

Jackson walked over and looked down at him, saying, "You're smart to wear warm clothes when going out."

Jeffrey was dressed in a thick and oversized down jacket. Upon hearing this, he looked up and grumbled, "I go out all for you. Jackson, you're heartless. No wonder Lillian doesn't want you."

Jackson chuckled and said, "Get up."

Jeffrey said, "I can't. My legs are numb."

As Jackson squatted down to lift Jeffrey, he grabbed the collar of his coat and asked, "Jackson, did you really divorce Lillian? You'll regret it. Let me tell you, with the gender imbalance now, a girl can have four partners. Lillian is still so beautiful. I bet if she gets divorced, many men will pursue her in no time. Then you'll be called ex-husband by those men every day. Just thinking about it makes me feel sorry for you."

Jackson felt Jeffrey really knew how to hit his sore spots. He pulled him up by the back of his neck and scorned, "No man dares to call me ex-husband! I will never give up on Lillian."

"What do you mean? Do you like Lillian?" Jeffrey asked.

As Lillian hurried over, she heard Jeffrey's slightly sharp voice from a distance. She paused as if struck by a nail, her eyes fixed on Jackson's broad back, holding her breath.
