Chapter 666
Lillian noticed Jackson staying quiet and not taking the phone, so she frowned and shoved it closer to him.
She insisted again, "You can leave now. Just go back and tell Lyra you dropped me off."
Jackson finally took the phone from her, his fingers accidentally brushing against hers.
Lillian jerked back, clearly startled.
Jackson's face darkened, but Barry's eyes lit up as he stepped forward, putting himself between them.
Barry gave Jackson a polite smile, but his words were sharp. "You heard Lillian. You two are divorced now, and she doesn't want to bother you anymore. You shouldn't push her, especially since her last coma was because of your stubbornness. Remember what the psychologist said, Mr. Frane?"
Barry kept bringing up the divorce and the psychologist for a reason. He knew Jackson was onto something and wanted to provoke him, hoping Jackson would lose his cool. That way, Lillian would only push Jackson further away.
But Barry's plan didn't work. Jackson just gave him a cold, disdainful look before turning back to Lillian.
Jackson frowned deeply and warned Lillian in a low voice, "What did Barry mean by 'his apartment' earlier? He's been involved with another woman, and now she's missing. Do you know where she is?"
This was what had Jackson worried. Despite Harry's skills, they hadn't found the woman from the parking lot after a whole day.
Either Barry had sent her out of Miracalia, or she was already dead. Something was definitely off.
But Lillian wasn't listening. She was already annoyed and said, "Did you take that photo in the parking lot? Did you have Shirley send it to me? Barry already explained it was his girlfriend. They just started dating, and he didn't want his mom pressuring him into marriage, so he kept it a secret. Where I go or stay is my business. Barry, let's go."
Lillian looked at Barry, who nodded, and they started to leave.
Jackson didn't move, but Harry stepped in to block Barry's path.
Lillian knew how strong Harry was. If he didn't let them pass, they weren't going anywhere.
She turned back angrily, glaring at Jackson. "Are you going to imprison me again?"
Jackson's hand clenched tightly at his side as he faced her hatred. He deeply regretted his past actions of forcing Lillian, which led to her current distrust and rejection of him.
This also gave Barry the chance to manipulate Lillian during her most vulnerable moments, bribing the psychologist to mess with her mind.
Today's mess was all because of Jackson's past mistakes.
Suppressing his pain, Jackson looked at Lillian with gentle eyes, even a hint of pleading, and said, "Lillian, have you agreed to go abroad with Barry?"
Lillian was taken aback by Jackson's gaze. "How do you know that?"
She had only told Barry about this decision and hadn't had the chance to tell anyone else.
Jackson shot Barry a cold look and stepped closer to Lillian, asking, "Why did you agree to stay at Barry's apartment instead of going home after being discharged? Lillian, think carefully. Is this really what you want? Did you feel this way before you started seeing Rafaela for therapy?"
Lillian took a step back, feeling the pressure. Jackson's presence was intense, his voice deep and compelling, making it hard to ignore him.
She tried to think, but her mind was blank. She couldn't remember agreeing to go abroad or stay at Barry's apartment. It felt like these decisions weren't hers, more like sudden, strong impulses. How could that be?
The more she thought, the more her mind went blank. She raised her hand, wanting to hit her head to clear it.
"Don't move." Jackson quickly grabbed her wrist.
Lillian snapped back to reality, but seeing Jackson's worried face, she became extremely agitated. "Don't touch me!" Her voice was sharp, filled with fear.
Jackson, startled, immediately let go.
Lillian took a step back, supported by Barry. She was pale, with a fine layer of sweat on her forehead.
Jackson watched her, his forehead veins throbbing. He had previously told Harry that psychologists weren't that powerful. But now, he felt he had severely underestimated their abilities.
Unable to hold back any longer, Jackson wrapped his arm around Lillian's waist.
Lillian was forcibly pulled into his arms, and Barry's face turned angry, "Lillian! Let her go!"
Barry stepped forward to pull Lillian away, but Jackson grabbed Barry's collar, his voice cold and menacing. "What did you have Rafaela do to her?"
Jackson suspected Rafaela was involved, so he had Harry go to Rafaela's office. But they were too late. Rafaela had left the hospital and gone straight to the airport with her husband, already out of the country.
Barry frowned, grabbing Jackson's wrist. "Mr. Frane, what are you trying to do? I don't understand what you're saying. Please let go of me; you're scaring Lillian."
Jackson's eyes were cold, but before he could respond, Lillian suddenly pushed him away forcefully. The force caused Lillian to stumble sideways, leaning against the wall. She hugged herself, looking anxious and in pain.
Jackson froze, clenching his fists, not daring to make another move. He could only watch as Barry rushed over to support Lillian, saying concernedly, "Lillian, your postpartum depression is acting up again. Remember, it's because of his entanglement and broken promises that you decided to leave the country quickly. As for staying at my apartment, Rafaela suggested you avoid your old place to help you relax and recover."
Lillian looked at Barry, her eyes slightly dazed, but a voice inside told her to believe him. Was it true?
She nodded. "I want to leave here quickly."
Barry smiled slightly, supporting Lillian as they walked. "Alright, let's go."
Barry glared at Jackson. "Mr. Frane, you see, Lillian wants to leave with me. You can't take her. Unless you want to drive her insane. Move aside!"
Jackson's fists clenched, his arms trembling.
Harry was even more anxious. 'How can we let Barry take Ms. Young away? In just a day or two, Barry has already messed Lillian up. If she falls into his hands, who knows what he will do next. If they leave the hospital, Lillian might disappear like the woman in the parking lot. But if we don't let them go, Lillian's current state might really drive her insane.'
Barry clearly knew this, which was why he was so arrogant.
Just as the tension reached its peak, an elderly voice suddenly came from the doorway. "Lillian won't go with Jackson, and Jackson has no right to take her. What about us? We certainly have more right than you, Barry, who has no relation to her!"
