Chapter 667
A bunch of people walked in, chatting away. Leading the pack was Oberon, the guy who'd been talking earlier. Today, he was all dressed up.
Oberon had on a suit, a black bow tie, and a red pocket square. His graying hair was slicked back, making him look like he was heading to some fancy event instead of a hospital.
Next to him, Ambrose was rocking a light-colored suit, which made him look more laid-back and stylish compared to his usual dark getup.
Trailing behind them were a bunch of bodyguards in black suits, filling up the room as soon as they stepped in.
Barry's face changed a bit when he saw them, and he tightened his grip on Lillian's arm. Lillian winced and let out a small yelp.
Oberon's face darkened. He raised his cane and jabbed it at Barry's arm, snapping, "I knew you were trying to take Lillian away last time. I've been gone for two days, and you're already at it again? Let go!"
Barry's arm got jabbed a few times, and he finally let go.
Oberon pulled the still-dazed Lillian to his side, looking her up and down anxiously. "Lillian, let me see if you've gained any weight these past two days. Why is your face still so pale? Come home with Grandpa, and I'll make sure you get healthy and beautiful."
Before Lillian could react, Oberon's old hands cupped her face and gently rubbed it, then patted her head. His actions were natural and affectionate, filled with love, and didn't feel awkward at all.
Lillian stared blankly at Oberon, trying to process his words. She felt like she understood, but also felt like she didn't. She'd always had a feeling and a guess, but it seemed impossible. Yet now, Oberon's words made her feel like she was dreaming.
"Oberon, what do you mean by grandpa and going home?" Lillian's voice trembled. Did it really mean what she thought it did?
Oberon looked into Lillian's beautiful, cautious eyes and felt his heart break. His eyes reddened, and he tightly gripped Lillian's arm.
"Lillian, you're a child of the Kelly family. Your mother was my daughter, Ophelia. I'm your grandfather! I'm sorry we couldn't protect you and only found you now." As Oberon spoke, he couldn't control himself and hugged Lillian.
Lillian, being hugged, looked at Ambrose standing next to Oberon. She was shaken and still in a daze.
Ambrose nodded at her and smiled, saying, "Lillian, back then, Ophelia, Mary, and Grace all gave birth at Radiant Life Clinic. Mary's child was born weak, and Bob didn't want to spend money raising a sickly child, so he swapped the Young Family's baby girl with you. But then he heard you were premature and might also be hard to raise, so he swapped you with Wendy. Here is the paternity test report showing your relationship with Oberon and Flora. Do you want to see it?"
Oberon quickly let go of Lillian. He took the file from Ambrose and urged, "Yes, Lillian, take a look."
Lillian's gaze fell on the file, and she shook her head. She believed them. Besides, Oberon and Ambrose had no reason to deceive her. Moreover, she had felt a sense of closeness the first time she met Oberon and Flora, which turned out to be a bond of blood.
Seeing her shake her head, Oberon looked panicked. "Lillian, do you not forgive us? Do you not want to acknowledge us?"
Lillian was stunned and quickly said, "No, Grandpa, it's Bob's fault. How could I not acknowledge you? I believe you."
Lillian was in a good mood and easily accepted Oberon and the fact that they were family. Having been adrift since childhood, she had always longed for family and kinship.
Especially now, having left the Frane family, she was alone and at her most vulnerable.
Moreover, she had already developed some emotional bonds with Flora and Oberon, so recognizing them as family was a dream come true for her.
Oberon had been extremely anxious, fearing that Lillian wouldn't accept them easily, that she would blame them for losing her, and that her current mental state would be further impacted. Unexpectedly, everything went so smoothly. She was so understanding and kind.
Oberon immediately smiled, his face full of wrinkles. "Good. I'll take you home. We're going home. Your grandma is waiting for us."
Oberon couldn't wait another moment and started to lead Lillian out.
Barry hadn't expected this turn of events. Seeing this, he hurriedly stepped forward. "Lillian, have you forgotten what you promised me?"
When Lillian heard Barry's voice, her steps faltered, and that uncontrollable feeling seemed to return.
Ambrose stepped forward, raising his hand to block Barry from approaching, and said in a deep voice, "Barry, whatever Lillian promised you before, she is now the lady of the Kelly Family. She has just reunited with her family and should go home to be with us. Are you trying to stop her?"
Barry's face darkened, and he unwillingly said to Lillian, "Lillian, have you thought it through?"
Lillian turned to look at Barry, whose eyes behind his glasses brightened.
A voice in Lillian's mind seemed to urge her that leaving with Barry was the right choice. But she was only being influenced, not turned into a fool.
Lillian had already realized something was wrong with herself. She frowned, resisting the uncontrollable feeling, and shook her head at Barry, saying, "Barry, I'm going home. Thank you for coming to discharge me. Grandpa, let's go."
Lillian tightly held Oberon's hand, her face slightly pale.
Barry clenched his fists, his expression showing frustration. He wanted to speak, but Jackson, who had been silently standing aside since the Kelly Family arrived, stepped forward and grabbed Barry's shoulder.
Jackson applied pressure without mercy, making Barry feel like his shoulder blade was about to shatter.
Jackson instructed, "Harry, keep an eye on him."
Barry staggered back a few steps, unable to cry out in pain, and was directly thrown to Harry by Jackson.
Harry had been itching to act, only holding back because of Lillian.
Now that Lillian was being taken away by the Kelly Family, there was no need to worry about. He kneed Barry hard in the chest, making Barry bend over, and then grabbed his collar and threw him onto the hospital bed.
As Lillian followed Oberon into the hallway, Jackson's familiar deep voice sounded behind her.
Jackson asked politely, "Grandpa, wait. Can I have a few more words with Lillian?"
