Chapter 163 Was Wendy Pregnant?
On the way back, Lillian felt much more relaxed.
Not only did she pass the interview with Alice, but she also informed Alice about her pregnancy, stating that she would only be able to dance again after the baby was born next year.
Regardless of whether Alice accepted it or not, she couldn't exist by deceiving or hiding the truth.
She also told Alice that even if rejected, she would still go to Harmonyland and reapply next year.
To Lillian's surprise, Alice decided to give her this opportunity after some thought.
Alice mentioned that she had a baby when she was young and chose to give up dancing, but she had been regretful about it.
However, as she grew older, her perspective changed. She believed that a good female dancer shouldn't have to sacrifice others to maintain her status and figure. She believed that a woman's experiences would make her dancer different. Understanding life was essential to understanding dance.
Lillian asked Alice to keep her secret, and Alice agreed.
Barry drove Lillian back to the hotel, and on the way, Lillian called the police.
By the time they arrived, the police were already there. Lillian made a brief statement, and the police took items like the cup from the hotel room to investigate.
After the police left, Barry's expression was serious.
He said, "The surveillance is down, and the cup most likely has been tampered with. The hope is slim."
Barry speculated that the police wouldn't make much progress because Wendy was well-prepared.
The time Lillian rushed to the airport was enough for Wendy to hide evidence.
Lillian also thought about this. Besides, she feared it might affect her baby, so she drank a lot of water. Therefore, her blood samples wouldn't reveal much. Since she was fine and just asleep for a while, the police wouldn't pay much attention.
But Lillian couldn't let it go.
"Lilian, how are you? Did Wendy do this?" Shirley asked.
Shirley rushed in anxiously, and after hearing Lillian's explanation, she angrily kicked over a chair.
She angrily said, "What's wrong with the police? The surveillance conveniently went down in such a big hotel; there's definitely something fishy!"
"Wendy had everything planned out before she acted." Lillian sneered.
Shirley asked, "So what do we do? We can't just let this go."
Lillian looked at Barry and asked, "Barry, can I borrow a few people from you?"
Barry's lips curved into a pleased smile. "Of course, I'd be happy to help. Just a few people?"
An hour later.
There was a small wine-tasting event at the Rose Clubhouse tonight.
In the club's largest private room, the lights were bright, and the atmosphere was luxurious. A beautiful pianist in a long gown was slowly playing the piano.
"The wine tasting is also a celebration of Wendy's successful solo performance," Jenny said.
She raised her glass, and everyone congratulated Wendy.
Wendy stood up with her glass, but hers contained juice.
"The hardest part isn't finding a good bottle of wine, but finding people to share it with. Due to health reasons, I can't drink, but my mood is the same as everyone else's," Wendy said to everyone, but her gaze was tenderly fixed on a tall figure not far away.
Everyone followed her gaze. It was Jackson in a black suit. He was discussing business with Mike and Gray, exuding a noble and composed demeanor.
Gray organized today's gathering. Jackson didn't initially plan to come, but Gray refused to leave his office.
Jackson only came when he saw Wendy was there, and he gave her a cold warning glance.
Wendy's smile froze on her face, but before she could sit down, someone tentatively asked, "Wendy, why can't you drink? Could it be..."
The implication was clear, and everyone's gaze turned to Wendy's belly.
Wendy lowered her head and touched her stomach.
Jenny was about to hint at something when suddenly the door of the private room was forcefully pushed open, and several men in black knocked down the waiter, causing a commotion.
