Chapter 484 Relative

Lillian was freaking out and struggling, but the person tying her up whispered, "Ms. Young, don't be scared! My boss is Ambrose. I'm not here to hurt you."

It was a woman's voice.

Lillian stopped struggling and started to relax.

She patted the woman's hand over her mouth, signaling she wouldn't scream.

The woman let go, and Lillian turned around, still shaken.

"You're really Ambrose's person? But I don't understand."

Lillian kept her gaze fixed on the woman who looked to be in her thirties. With her neatly trimmed hair and distinctive local complexion, she was clearly a native.

"Ms. Young, you can call me Seren. Ambrose hired me to protect you. I've been here waiting since you boarded the plane."

"But why..." Lillian remained cautious.

She was filled with confusion, not seeing any real connection between herself and Ambrose.

She recalled Jackson's words, wondering if Ambrose had other intentions regarding her.

But that couldn't be right.

"I can't answer that," Seren said calmly, "My job is just to ensure your safety. Mr. Kelly will be in touch with you soon. You might want to ask him yourself. It's not safe here, so we need to leave."

Lillian nodded, not doubting Seren's words.

Seren seemed strong and capable, and if she had sinister motives, she could have subdued Lillian already. There was no need to deceive Lillian.

As the car sped away, Lillian glanced back at the airport.

She saw Caius and the tall guy, accompanied by four or five men with a menacing presence, still searching for her. Caius was mumbling to himself, clearly agitated.

Lillian turned away, her hands and feet feeling icy cold.

She wasn't naive enough to think that Star's search party was meant to protect her.

Clearly, they had sent so many people to prevent her from escaping, and what they planned to do next was anyone's guess.

Lillian had previously thought that the Price family would be cautious about Jackson and wouldn't harm her.

After all, she had stepped aside to make way for Star, but it seemed she had been too naive.

Fortunately, she hadn't fully trusted the Price family and had escaped at the first opportunity.

An hour later, Lillian was settled into a discreet, secure villa, sipping tea brewed by Seren, while waiting for Ambrose's call.

Gratefully, she expressed her thanks and directly asked the burning question on her mind.

"Mr. Kelly, could you tell me why you're helping me?"

She felt she couldn't sleep soundly at night until she got a clear answer.

Ambrose's voice was smooth and tinged with amusement. "What do you think? Do you believe I'm hiding you away?"

Lillian's breath caught as Ambrose's laughter rang through the line.

"Are you serious? Didn't take you for a narcissist."

Lillian fell silent.

His words, though embarrassing and leaving her flushed, were a relief. Her tone softened as she replied.

"Mr. Kelly, making such a joke in this situation only makes anyone scared and believe it's true."

"Lillian, you remind me of someone like a relative," Ambrose said warmly.

"A relative? Someone important to you, I assume?"
