Chapter 567

Jackson ignored her wide-eyed stare and continued, "You might not remember, but before you turned five, every time Mrs. Wade Sivan and my grandmother had a gathering, they would bring you along. Back then, the person you were closest to in the Frane family was me. When you started talking, the first word you said wasn't 'mom' or 'dad,' but 'brother.'"

No one had ever told Lillian this before. She looked at Jackson, somewhat stunned. "Are you lying to me?"

Jackson cupped Lillian's face, his gaze softening, and a faint smile appeared on his thin lips.

"I'm not lying. When you were two, you once came to the Frane family, and the servants couldn't find you. When I got home from school, I found you had somehow taken over my bed."

"Lillian, you were the first to occupy my bed, and so far, the only one. I won't allow any other woman in the future. Shouldn't you take responsibility for me?"

Lillian didn't know this either, and her cheeks inexplicably turned red.

She thought it must be the warmth from Jackson's palm affecting her.

Jackson's eyes softened, and his voice became slightly hoarse as he continued, "When I was eight, my grandfather took me fishing. I wandered off to play, and when I came back, he had collapsed from a heart attack. The delay in getting him medical attention cost him his life. I was overwhelmed with guilt and locked myself in my room for two days and nights, refusing to eat or drink, ignoring everyone."

Lillian's breath hitched in her throat. Lucas and Lyra had a great relationship, and after Lucas passed away early, no one in the Frane family mentioned the details of his death.

Lillian had always thought it was a simple illness, but she hadn't expected this.

Seeing Jackson lost in painful memories, she instinctively reached out to stroke his hair, her gaze softening unconsciously.

Jackson took her hand, brought it to his lips, and gently kissed it, gazing at her. "Do you know who finally pulled me out of that darkness?"

Lillian's heart skipped a beat, but she couldn't quite believe it.

Jackson's eyes slightly lifted, and he said firmly, "It was you."

"Me?" Lillian's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yes, you." Jackson nodded. "You sneaked into my room when the servants weren't looking, stumbled in the dark, and crawled to my feet, insisting on holding my hand and saying, 'Don't cry.'

"I pushed you away, but you persistently crawled back, even pulling off the pacifier hanging around your neck and trying to shove it into my mouth. That pacifier was covered in your saliva. Lillian, we had an indirect kiss so early on."

As Jackson spoke more and more outrageously, Lillian felt embarrassed about all the things she had done without even remembering them. Her cheeks burned.

She clapped a hand over his mouth. "Stop it!" she hissed. "I don't want to hear any of this. It doesn't matter anymore!"

Jackson pulled her hand away and said in a deep voice, "It matters. I'm trying to tell you that when Max brought you to the Frane family, I took you home not because of Star, but because you had saved me without even knowing it!"

Lillian's eyes suddenly welled up with tears. Jackson gently stroked her slightly reddened eyes and continued, "Lillian, I remembered you even when you had no memory.

"Look, my memories of you have existed since you were born, for twenty-two years now.

"Lillian, I've only spent a short time with Star, but I've been entangled with you for twenty-two years. We're meant to be together; no one compares to you.

"I realized too late before, misunderstood too much, and hurt you. You can scold me, hit me, punish me, but don't doubt my heart. I know clearly who I love!"

Lillian had never known Jackson to be so eloquent. He had a way of skillfully attacking her heart, hitting the mark with every word.

She didn't want to be swayed by him, to have her emotions easily manipulated, but her heart was overwhelmed with emotions, and she couldn't help but let her tears fall, feeling utterly confused.
