Chapter 741

Star's hand hadn't even touched Jackson before a large, bony hand forcefully gripped her wrist.

Jackson's warning was clear, and Star felt a sharp pain in her wrist, as if it were about to be crushed.

Before she could react, she was flung aside.

Star stumbled and fell to the ground, her face pale as she looked up.

Jackson, sitting in the car, exuded a chilling aura, his legs crossed, appearing both noble and aloof.

He took the alcohol wipe Terry handed him and wiped his right hand, which had just touched her, then threw the wipe away and said coldly.

"Star, just because Lillian rejected me doesn't mean I'll settle for someone like you." With that, Jackson slammed the car door shut.

The black Maybach disappeared in front of Star in an instant, and the discarded wipe at her feet was blown onto her.

Star felt like that discarded wipe, not worth a second glance from Jackson, no matter how hard she tried.

She bit her lip, let out a cold laugh, stood up, and slowly wiped the tears from her face.

Lillian hadn't waited long by the roadside before the black Maybach stopped in front of her.

The rear door opened, revealing Jackson's noble and steady figure. Jackson took a long stride and got out of the car.

He raised his hand to shield the car roof, his deep eyes looking at Lillian, signaling her to get in.

Terry, holding the steering wheel, had been worried that Jackson would be affected by Star's words and act out towards Lillian.

Seeing Jackson being so attentive and gentlemanly, he felt relieved.

Lillian bent slightly and got into the car in front of Jackson, "Thank you."

She sat down and lowered her eyes, only to see Jackson bending over, his long, attractive fingers gently placing the corner of her light blue dress, which had fallen outside the car, back inside.

Jackson's movements were graceful and elegant, and his actions, instead of appearing awkward or humble, were inexplicably heart-stirring.

Especially, the way the gauzy dress brushed past his expensive, gleaming watch made a deep impression on Lillian.

Lillian pinched her fingertips suddenly.

She could never have imagined Jackson doing this before.

Jackson closed the car door and walked around to the other side to get in. "Let's go."

Terry immediately drove the car smoothly away.

"The rehabilitation team for Max has all been arranged today. The doctor also examined Max and said that the caregivers have done a good job over the past three years, and the muscle atrophy is not severe. As long as Max cooperates with the treatment, he can recover fully in three months at most."

Jackson clearly knew what Lillian would care about and chose a topic that would please her.

Lillian's mood brightened upon hearing this, her eyebrows and eyes lifting.

"That's great!" She turned to look at him, but the next second, her gaze fell on a spot near Jackson's collar.

There, on his light gray shirt, was a distinct red stain.

It was a lipstick mark.

And the shade was a reddish-orange.

It was the color Star had used today. Lillian's smile faded slightly, and she leaned closer to Jackson, sniffing lightly. Sure enough, she caught a familiar scent of perfume on Jackson and in the car.

So, just now, Jackson had seen Star, and they had clearly had physical contact.

Lillian felt she shouldn't care, but her mood still sank.

She thought of the cufflink in her pocket.

The words Star had said in the garage echoed in her mind again.

At the time, Lillian hadn't believed it, but now she was unsure.

However, even if they had a intimate relationship, it had nothing to do with her!

Lillian thought she was just worried that Jackson might be bewitched by Star and, even if it was later proven that Star was involved in Taylor's death, he would still protect her.

She believed it was not because she still loved Jackson and couldn't stand him being with another woman.

Jackson immediately sensed Lillian's mood shift and leaned closer, asking, "What's wrong?"

Lillian smiled again, "Nothing."

However, despite Lillian's calm demeanor, Jackson's face instantly darkened.

When Jackson noticed her unusual expression, he followed her gaze to his chest.

Then he saw the stain on his shirt.

It must have been Star who left the mark on purpose when she fell into his arms.

He thought Lillian would ask him about it, but Lillian acted as if she hadn't seen the stain and smiled again.

Did Lillian really not care or feel jealous at all?

Jackson thought of Star's words, saying Lillian couldn't wait for him to sleep with another woman so he wouldn't bother her.

His breathing became heavy, and his voice tightened as he looked at Lillian, unwilling to let it go. "Don't you have anything to ask me?"

Lillian looked out the car window, then turned back and nodded. "Of course, I have something to ask."

She hadn't forgotten that she was supposed to ask Jackson about Taylor today.

Jackson's eyes lit up when he heard her say she had something to ask.

He even adjusted his posture, turning his whole body to face Lillian.

His eyes were filled with anticipation, already imagining Lillian getting jealous and angry, ideally grabbing his tie and demanding to know where the lipstick mark came from.

But Lillian's lips quivered, and her eyes filled with sadness.

Before she could ask, her eyes turned red.

Jackson was stunned. He wanted Lillian to be jealous and angry, to prove she still cared about him.

But seeing Lillian genuinely sad, his heart ached.

Jackson, panicked, touched the back of Lillian's head and, before she could speak, urgently said. "Don't misunderstand or overthink. There's nothing between Star and me. The cufflink you gave me was pulled off by Logan in the hospital yesterday. I even had my men search the hospital for a day. I had no idea Star found it.

"Just now in the parking lot, Star suddenly rushed out and fell on me. I thought it was you waiting for me in the parking lot. I didn't see clearly and reached out to catch her, and that's how the stain got there. That's all, really! Lillian, believe me."

Lillian was stunned. She hadn't intended to ask about that.

Jackson's sudden explanation made it seem like she cared a lot, and it felt like he had seen through her hidden feelings, magnifying them.

Lillian's ears turned red with embarrassment and anger.

But before she could explain or refute, Jackson pulled her tightly into his arms.

Jackson's low, magnetic voice sounded in her ear.

"Baby, I only want to be with you, and I only accept being with you."
