Chapter 251 Forced onto the Operating Table for an Abortion
Lillian's steps unknowingly slowed down. She was very nervous.
Peggy didn't hear Lillian's footsteps, so she turned back. As she saw her walk slowly, she came back to pull her along.
"Mrs. Frane, hurry up. Don't keep Mrs. Lyra Frane and the doctors waiting," Peggy urged.
However, Lillian stood still and asked, "Peggy, what's going on? Isn't Jeffrey in the children's ward? Or is Grandma Lray not feeling well? Why are we going to the Obstetrics Department?"
Seeing that she wouldn't move, Peggy had to explain.
"It's not about Mr. Jeffrey. He's already admitted to the children's ward. To be honest, a few days ago, when you were talking with Miss Jenny at the Frane family, I overheard it. Mrs. Lyra Frane found out that day about Ms. Sivan's pregnancy and asked me to confirm it. She was furious when she learned that Mr. Jackson Frane was still accompanying Ms. Sivan for prenatal check-ups. She had already planned to confront Ms. Sivan, but when she came to see Jeffrey, she happened to run into Ms. Sivan. Ms. Sivan came up, trying to curry favor, with a posture as if she deserved special treatment. Mrs. Lyra Frane wouldn't tolerate her, so she had her taken to the operating room."
After listening, Lillian was shocked. She couldn't understand Wendy's thoughts. She had been photographed in the garden before. Instead of leaving the hospital quickly, she was still trying to get close to Lyra.
However, since her pregnancy wasn't discovered, Lillian relaxed. She and Peggy arrived at the door of the operating room and indeed saw Lyra, along with Wendy, who was being held down by two servants.
"Mrs. Lyra Frane, We have known each other for many years. I respect and adore you. Why are you so cruel to me? The baby in my womb is the child of the Frane family. He is a life. Why do you insist on the doctor terminating him? The baby is innocent, and he is your grandson."
Wendy clutched her belly tightly, her pleading appearance easily evoking sympathy from those unaware of the truth.
However, Lyra's face remained stern as she said coldly, "Save your breath. I won't fall for your tricks!"
Lillian quickly walked over and supported Lyra's arm, saying, "Grandma."
"Lillian, you're here. I didn't know you had suffered so much. Today, I want to make it clear to those with improper thoughts that there will be no special treatment. The Frane family has never had a precedent for illegitimate children! Even if I want a grandson, it must be born by my legitimate granddaughter-in-law. Not everyone who gives birth to a child will be recognized by the Frane family!"
Lyra's words were firm and resolute. She held Lillian's hand tightly, her palm warm.
Lillian's nose tingled, and tears welled up in her eyes.
When Lyra was young, she was a decisive and resolute woman, no inferior to any man, but privately, she was always kind and charitable, a compassionate elder. But now, for her sake, Lyra was forcing Wendy to have an abortion. This was against her principles.
Lillian was deeply moved by Lyra's unwavering support, treating her like a biological granddaughter and not letting her be bullied or wronged. She also felt guilty for making Lyra endure such pain in her later years. However, if Lyra really forced Wendy to have an abortion today, she would be scorned. Moreover, although she despised Wendy, as a mother herself, she couldn't conductsuch an act.
"Grandma, don't be angry. I know you're doing this for my sake." Lillian comforted Lyra.
"Don't try to persuade me. I know you're a kind-hearted, generous child, but this matter cannot be tolerated! I'm making an example out of you so others won't follow suit. I'm not asking you to persuade me. So, you just stand aside and watch. Leave it all to me." Lillian had just started to speak when Lyra interrupted her.
As Wendy heard this, she was twisted with jealousy. A flash of resentment and unwillingness crossed her face. Lyra had taken Lillian in out of the past affection for Wade, but now she was willing to crush her, Wade's granddaughter, into the dust for Lillian!
"Mrs. Lyra Frane, you were closer to my grandmother than sisters. I was mistakenly taken away at birth and never had the chance to be with my grandmother, but I know if she were alive to see me, she would love and cherish me. I miss her too and have always regarded you as my grandmother. You can't treat me like this. Jackson won't let you do this to me either."
Wendy didn't know where she fell short compared to Lillian. She thought Lyra must have been doited!
Wendy thought, 'I already said the child is Jackson's, yet they still wanted to drag me onto the operating table. Damn it!'
