Chapter 876
Lillian's muscles tensed up from the pain, and she was startled, worried that Star might notice something was off.
Before Star could react, Jackson yanked her away and tossed her aside.
She stumbled and hit her lower back on the edge of a table, letting out a cry of pain.
"You were crushing her!"
Jackson stepped in front of the hospital bed, creating a barrier between Star and Lillian.
Star couldn't get closer. She leaned against the table, catching her breath, but a hint of suspicion flashed in her eyes.
Did she just feel Lillian move?
She immediately looked up at Lillian again.
However, Jackson stood in front of the bed holding Logan, his tall frame completely blocking Star's view.
Jackson's voice was cold and displeased. "Get out!"
Star couldn't see Lillian and felt uneasy. Her doubts began to grow.
She held her lower back, her eyes red with frustration. "Jackson, I didn't mean to crush Lillian. Can you please not be mad at me? I..."
Jackson didn't want to hear her excuses. "Get out! Don't make me say it again."
Star didn't dare to anger him further. This wasn't why she had come.
"Then I'll take Logan..."
She stepped forward to take Logan, but Logan turned his little body away and clung tightly to Jackson's neck.
"Logan, come with me."
Star called out, but Logan kicked his little legs and climbed further up Jackson, letting out two loud farts in Star's direction.
Star froze, her hand instinctively pulling back.
Jackson noticed her momentary look of disgust and let out a light scoff. "Logan stays here."
"But..." Star started to protest.
Jackson cut her off. "No buts. Didn't you say that Logan's touch made Lillian's eyes move? Then let Logan stay and try again. Or do you not actually want Lillian to wake up?"
Star was indeed worried that Logan's presence might actually help Lillian.
But under Jackson's cold gaze, she quickly said, "Of course, I want Lillian to wake up. It's just that with Lillian like this, Jackson, you're already exhausted. I'm worried Logan might be too noisy and disturb your rest."
"He won't." Jackson's voice was firm as he turned away with Logan, clearly signaling for her to leave.
Seeing this, Star thought that if Logan stayed, she would have an excuse to come by often. She quickly softened her tone. "Alright, I'll leave Mireille here too. Jackson, make sure to rest. I'll come by again soon."
Jackson didn't respond at all. Star frowned but had no choice but to turn and leave.
At the door, she glanced back at the room.
Lillian still looked lifeless on the bed, her face pale and lips bloodless in the sunlight.
Star thought that it was probably just her imagination; maybe even a comatose person could have physical reflexes.
She turned and left, closing the door behind her.
The room fell silent. Even Logan didn't make a sound, his big eyes fixed on Lillian, as if wondering why she wasn't waking up to play with him.
Seeing no reaction from Lillian, Logan turned to look at Jackson.
He smacked his little lips, impatiently wiggling his butt, trying to crawl towards the bed.
It was like he was asking Jackson what needed to be done to wake Lillian up so she could play with him.
Jackson patted his little butt. "You gotta kiss the princess to wake her up. Let me show you."
Jackson leaned in, his warm breath brushing against Lillian's cheek.
Lillian's eyelashes fluttered. She was worried that Star hadn't left and might come back or be spying from outside, so she didn't dare open her eyes.
Feeling Jackson's breath close to her, she smiled slightly, waiting silently.
But even though Jackson's breath was near, his kiss didn't come.
Lillian's eyelashes fluttered more intensely, the anticipation becoming almost unbearable.
Finally, unable to stand it, Lillian suddenly opened her eyes and glared at Jackson.
At that moment, Jackson's lips met hers in a kiss.
Lillian blinked but didn't close her eyes again.
Seeing Lillian awake, Logan's big eyes lit up, and he clapped his hands excitedly in Jackson's arms.
With Logan there, the kiss was brief.
Lillian gave Jackson a playful look. "Didn't you say the princess needed a kiss to wake up?"
He was just teasing her.
Jackson's eyes were deep as he gazed at Lillian. "Yeah, but I kissed you a bunch of times before, and the princess never woke up. The prince's heart was broken, and he was a bit traumatized."
Lillian was taken aback. She hadn't expected that to be the reason.
She thought he was just teasing her.
Thinking about how Jackson had kissed her repeatedly while she was unconscious, hoping she would wake up and respond, only to be disappointed each time, her heart ached.
She reached out and ruffled Jackson's hair. "My poor prince. Do you need a comforting kiss?"
Jackson raised an eyebrow. He certainly wouldn't refuse a kiss from his beloved.
Their eyes met, filled with a magnetic pull, but before Jackson could lean in, someone else objected.
It was Logan who was sitting on Jackson's lap.
Logan hadn't learned to crawl yet. Seeing Lillian awake, he stretched his neck and arms, trying to reach her.
But after several failed attempts and being ignored by Lillian, Logan felt very wronged.
He started crying loudly, the sound echoing through the room.
"Why is Logan crying? Come here, let me hold you."
Lillian quickly pushed Jackson aside and reached for Logan.
She bent her legs, placing Logan on her soft belly, his little back resting against her legs.
Lillian kissed Logan's tear-streaked cheek. "Auntie was wrong. Auntie will kiss little Logan. Don't be mad at Auntie, okay? No more crying."
Logan seemed to love the cuddles and kisses. He was easily comforted.
Logan immediately stopped crying, his big eyes shining as he smiled at Lillian. Then, a stream of drool trickled from his mouth.
Lillian chuckled and reached for a tissue to wipe his face, but Jackson had already handed her one.
Lillian took the tissue and gently dabbed Logan's face, then turned to Jackson. "Can you have someone bring some baby wipes? These tissues are too rough for Logan's delicate skin. We don't want to ruin his cute little face, right, Taylor?"
Lillian's eyes shifted to Logan, and the name slipped out almost unconsciously.
As soon as she said it, she realized her mistake. Her expression faltered, and her smile became stiff.
But Logan, sitting on her belly, was excitedly waving his arms and kicking his little legs. His tiny bottom bounced on Lillian's stomach, just like when she was pregnant with Taylor.
Whenever she placed her hand on her belly and called Taylor's name, Taylor would respond by kicking her palm, giving her a strong sense of connection.
Lillian's throat tightened, and she looked at Logan with a mix of disbelief and nostalgia.
Jackson heard Lillian call Logan by Taylor's name and saw her eyes turn red. He assumed she was missing Taylor again. Feeling a heavy weight in his heart, he interrupted her thoughts and lifted Logan off her lap.
"Where did Star touch you?"
With Logan now in Jackson's arms, Lillian looked up. She wanted to tell Jackson about the intense feeling of maternal connection she had just experienced, similar to when Taylor was in her womb.
But seeing the worry in Jackson's eyes, she swallowed her words.
She thought she must be losing her mind, missing Taylor so much that she imagined Logan was Taylor.
Jackson was already so concerned about her. She didn't want to say anything that would make him more anxious.
She pretended to be upset and replied, "She twisted me really hard! It hurt so much I almost gave myself away!"
When Star had fallen on Lillian, Jackson had quickly pulled her off and thrown her aside. But he had noticed Lillian's brief expression of pain.
He suspected Star had done something to Lillian, and now he knew she had dared to hurt Lillian right in front of him.
Jackson's face fell as he bent down and lifted Lillian's blanket. "Where did she twist you? Let me see."
"It's on my leg. It's fine now, it doesn't hurt anymore. What are you doing? Logan is still here."
Lillian shook her head, indicating it was no big deal.
She had only pretended to be angry because Jackson had asked, but the pain had already subsided.
But Jackson moved quickly. Before Lillian could finish her protest, he had already pulled down her loose hospital pants.
Lillian was so light, and the pants were so loose that they slid down easily, even pulling her underwear down a bit.
Lillian felt embarrassed and tried to pull her pants up, but Jackson held her knee firmly.
He spread her legs wider and saw a bruise on her inner thigh, his face growing even grimmer.
Lillian's skin was smooth and delicate, especially on her inner thighs. The bruise stood out like a stain on paper, making it look even more painful.
Seeing the bruise, Jackson felt even angrier, especially since it had happened right under his nose.
He clenched his fist. "I'm sorry. I didn't protect you well enough."
When Star had lunged at him, he had been holding Logan and had only managed to dodge, not kick her away.
In hindsight, he should have let Star hit him instead.
Seeing Jackson's expression, Lillian knew what he was thinking.
She quickly pulled the blanket over her legs and glared at Jackson. "It's a good thing you dodged. If you had let her touch you in front of me, I would have been so angry I might have come back to life just to kill her!"
Jackson looked up and gave her a light smack. "Don't say such nonsense!"
He couldn't stand hearing anything about her dying and coming back to life.
Lillian laughed and grabbed his hand. "Alright, alright. Don't frown. I don't feel any pain anymore. Besides, you pulled her off me in time. I heard her hit the table pretty hard. You've already avenged me."
Star's collision with the table was definitely more serious than her bruise.
But Jackson didn't think it was enough. His eyes darkened as he placed Logan back on the bed. "I'll get you some medicine."
He turned to leave, and Lillian opened her mouth to say the bruise didn't need any medicine and would probably fade by tomorrow. But she knew Jackson had been treating her like a fragile doll since she woke up. If applying some medicine would ease his guilt and discomfort, she would let him do it.
She turned her attention back to Logan. "Logan, did you miss me? Do you want to learn to say my name? Lillian."
Lillian slowly opened her mouth, trying to get Logan to mimic her.
Logan was too young to speak, but he stared at Lillian with his big eyes and then lunged forward, covering her face with drool.
Jackson left the room and headed to the nurse's station, but first, he took out his phone and called Harry, giving him a few instructions.
Meanwhile, Star left the hospital feeling quite pleased.
Although Jackson hadn't shown her any special affection or interest, and his underlying disdain had hurt her, Lillian was dying.
There were no other women close to Jackson now. His disdain for her was all because of Lillian's manipulative tactics, constantly driving a wedge between them.
Men were forgetful and fickle.
Once Lillian was gone, it wouldn't take long for Jackson to forget her and the doubts and suspicions.
Then, he would remember their youthful love and feel guilty towards her. She would have a chance to get close to him, melt his heart, and win him over.
With this thought, Star confidently instructed the driver to take her to the mall.
She hadn't gone shopping in a long time and wanted to buy some pretty, simple clothes.
Star entered the mall, shopped around, and was about to leave when she passed a lingerie store. She went in and bought two sets of lingerie and a few nightgowns.
She didn't have the driver follow her, carrying her shopping bags herself as she headed to the elevator. Her phone rang.
She walked towards the escalator, looking down to find her phone in her bag.
At that moment, someone suddenly pushed past her from behind.
Star reached out to grab the handrail, but it was too late. She lost her balance and tumbled down the escalator.
