Chapter 651
Oberon's hand shook a bit as he held the glass, his eyes suddenly locking onto Ambrose.
Ambrose leaned in, took the glass from Oberon, and wiped the water off his hand with a tissue. "Grandpa, looks like you've figured it out too."
Oberon grabbed Ambrose's hand tightly, disbelief written all over his face. "Lillian, my granddaughter? How can that be?"
His voice trembled, memories of the first time he saw Lillian's face flooding back. Every time he felt an unexplainable closeness to her.
He also remembered the kinship test he did for Anouk eight years ago.
"Grandpa, I secretly redid the kinship test. Here's the electronic result; take a look. The written report will be delivered by Dashiell later." Ambrose, seeing that Oberon had already guessed, opened the paternity test report on his phone and handed it over. "This one is the kinship test between Grandma Flora and Lillian, confirming she's indeed the biological granddaughter. And this one shows Flora and Anouk aren't related. I also sent your hair sample for a kinship test with Lillian, but it's a bit more complicated, so the result will come out later."
As Ambrose spoke, Oberon, with trembling hands, put on his glasses and carefully examined the reports.
His chest heaved as he said, "Lillian is Ophelia's daughter, my biological granddaughter?"
Oberon's voice was hoarse as he looked at Ambrose for confirmation.
Even though he had been through a lot, this revelation stunned him.
Ambrose nodded, and Oberon suddenly stood up, accidentally knocking over the glass beside him.
"Grandpa! Please calm down." Ambrose quickly stepped forward to support him.
Oberon felt dizzy and, with Ambrose's help, sat back down, still struggling to speak, "We need to go to the hospital right now. I need to see Lillian—no, my granddaughter" He said, clenching his fist and pounding the table.
Thinking of Lillian's hardships, the only bloodline of the Kelly Family suffering all these years, he felt immense hatred and self-blame.
His vision darkened, as his breathing quickened.
Ambrose quickly advised, "Grandpa, we didn't know before, but now that we've found her, you need to take care of your health so you can reunite with Lillian, bring her home, find out the truth, and give her justice."
As Ambrose spoke, he handed Oberon his usual blood pressure medication. Oberon gradually calmed down, waving off Ambrose's concern. "I'm fine; you're right. I need to hold on and stand up for Lillian!"
Oberon thought about how Flora, despite getting senile, recognized her granddaughter at first sight and kept her close in her heart.
But Lillian had been around him for so long, and he hadn't noticed anything. He felt like the confused one, deeply sorry for his granddaughter.
He closed his eyes and hoarsely instructed, "We can't let this go public yet. We need to find out how the child was switched back then, whether the problem lies within the Kelly Family, and what happened with that fake kinship test. Also, find a reliable psychologist; I need to know if it's suitable to tell Lillian about this."
Ambrose nodded, and after a quick chat, they headed downstairs.
Not seeing Flora, Oberon immediately asked the servant and found out that Anouk had taken Flora to the hospital to see Lillian.
Oberon's brow furrowed. "Ambrose, let's get to the hospital, now."
In the hospital room, Lillian was surprised when Anouk suddenly brought Flora over.
Flora, familiar with the place, sat by Lillian's bedside and started chatting warmly, while Anouk's eyes flashed with coldness.
She stepped forward and said, "You're so concerned about Lillian's health. I asked Layla to help you find Lillian's doctor and ask when she can be discharged, okay?"
Flora, eager to take Lillian home, nodded immediately.
Anouk gave a signal to the servant Layla, who then helped Flora out.
Lillian didn't stop them and looked at Anouk with a smile. "You have something to say to me, don't you?"
Anouk, clearly not here to visit the sick, had sent Flora away. Lillian knew she wasn't here with good intentions.
Anouk didn't beat around the bush and smiled faintly. "Ms. Young, you're straightforward, so I won't hide anything. I hope you can keep your distance from my family."She added, "You might not know, but I came to Miracalia with my grandparents to get treatment for my grandpa Oberon's illness. That night, because of saving you, my grandpa had a headache and nausea all day, and grandma was so frightened she couldn't sleep well. They're elderly, and it's not appropriate for them to be running around for you, someone unrelated."
Anouk's attitude was aggressive, openly accusatory.
After speaking, she stepped forward, took out a bank card from her bag, and placed it on Lillian's blanket.
"This card has five hundred thousand dollars. Don't get me wrong; it's a thank you for helping me at the bar. You can also hire a nurse..."
Lillian smiled, picked up the card, and interrupted her, "Is your life only worth five hundred thousand dollars? That's pretty cheap."
Anouk was stunned, clearly not expecting Lillian to be so blunt.
Her expression turned grim, and she sneered, "Not satisfied with five hundred thousand dollars? No wonder everyone in Miracalia says you were adopted by the Frane Family, only to repay their kindness by ensnaring Jackson as your husband. You're greedy! What? Without my grandparents here, you don't even bother to pretend and show your true colors?"
Lillian wasn't angered by her words and didn't argue back, just coldly threw the card back. "Same to you. Aren't you showing your true colors too? Otherwise, why send Flora away?"
The card hit Anouk and fell to the ground, and Anouk's eyes seemed to shoot fire. "Lillian, don't be ungrateful. People who don't know their place are annoying."
Lillian just smiled lightly. "Oberon and Flora are elders I respect. I'm very grateful to them and feel an inexplicable closeness to them. They are your elders, and I think they have the right to choose who to associate with. Do they know you are saying these things? Do they agree? Anouk, you are strange, as if you have an inexplicable fear of me."
