Chapter 403 Will You Marry Me

"Marry me, Lilian."

Lilian never saw this coming. She was the star of the proposal.

She froze, staring at the sky where a red jewelry box floated. It opened, revealing a diamond ring that sparkled in her eyes.

A hand appeared, picked up the ring, and slid it onto her finger.

Even as the moment hung in the air, Lilian was stunned, unable to process it.

"Lilian, will you marry me?"

Jackson, usually so distant and noble, was on one knee in front of her, holding their wedding ring, looking up at her.

Her heart raced. It pounded so hard she thought it might leap out of her chest.

Like any girl, Lilian covered her mouth in shock, staring at Jackson.

He wore a custom suit, a dark gray cashmere coat draped over his shoulders. Even on one knee, he looked powerful, charming, and elegant.

His deep eyes were sparkling, gazing at her like she was his treasure.

This was the happiness she had always dreamed of.

"Lilian, we've missed so many chances. I didn't take good care of you, misunderstood you, and neglected you. That was all my fault. Can we start over?" Jackson's voice carried on the night wind. Despite the winter chill, the wind felt gentle and romantic, making everything seem perfect.

At that moment, Lilian decided to follow her heart, letting go of all doubts.

She reached out to Jackson, softly saying, "Yes, I will."

She smiled, but tears fell, landing on Jackson's hand.

As Jackson slid the ring onto her finger, a warm tear dropped onto his hand.

He looked up, seeing her tears streaming down. He was momentarily stunned and stood up, asking, "Why are you crying? Are you still unsure? I didn't mean to pressure you."

He lifted her chin and kissed her tear-streaked cheek.

Lilian thought Jackson was so silly. How could she be unwilling?

She was clearly overjoyed. How could he not see the difference between sadness and tears of joy?

Lilian lightly punched his chest, tugging at his shirt. "You silly. I'm happy!"

"Anyway, don't cry." Jackson held her, gently patting her back.

He smiled, rubbing her hand with the ring. "Lilian, I'm happy, too."

Jackson had always wanted her to willingly put the ring back on and return to his side.

Luckily, he did it. He didn't lose her.

Lilian nestled in Jackson's arms, calming her emotions, and Jackson silently embraced her.

Neither spoke, but they felt a quiet happiness surrounding them.

After a while, Lilian shivered slightly.

Jackson loosened his hold and looked down. "Are you cold? I'll take you back."

He reached for her hand, but she shook her head. "I want to stay a little longer."

She didn't want to leave, wanting to hold onto this night a bit longer.

Jackson unbuttoned his coat and wrapped her inside. "Is this better?"

Lilian nodded. "Much better."

She looked up at his clear jawline and asked, "Why propose here? My last memory of this place wasn't great."

She had been thinking about the trouble Wendy had caused last time and didn't realize it was Jackson's romantic proposal.

Jackson looked down at her and said softly, "Because the last memory wasn't good, we need to be here. Let's cover all the bad memories, okay?"

Lilian's eyes welled up with tears. Before she could hold them back, she smiled, closed her eyes, stood on tiptoe, and kissed Jackson.

Jackson embraced her, responding tenderly.

The lights in the square twinkled, and the fountains on the lawn danced, illuminated in a myriad of colors.

Lilian wished this night could last forever, hoping dawn would never come, so she and Jackson could be together forever.

But on the way back, Jackson's phone kept ringing.

It was Dominic calling. Jackson had Aiden take Lilian back to the Frane Mansion and hurried to the hospital.

He didn't return all night.
