Chapter 197 Come Back
The cool touch made Lillian suddenly awake.
She opened her eyes and hastily pushed him away in a panic.
Jackson sensed her resistance, released her, and raised his head.
With a blush on her face, Lillian turned her head aside, breathing rapidly and whimpering softly, "Don't."
Jackson froze, his Adam's apple bobbing. He almost used all his self-control to leave her and get up from the bed, unzipping his hoodie and walking to the window.
Lillian silently sat up, awkwardly tidying her disheveled clothes and hair.
She lowered her head, calming herself.
Jackson's voice came from behind. "Your hair is still wet. Come here."
Lillian turned around and found Jackson back to normal. He plugged in the hairdryer and gestured for her to sit down.
Lillian's hair was still wet, so she stood up and walked over.
"I'll do it myself," she said.
However, Jackson pressed her shoulder, making her sit on the bed.
He pressed the button, and the warm air blew over her scalp.
Sitting upright, Lillian felt his fingers gently through her hair.
Her hair was of excellent quality, soft and straight, thick and dense. Jackson was somewhat reluctant to stop blowing.
When he turned off the hairdryer, Lillian suddenly looked up and spoke, "That day, you fed me an orange candy, too. Do you remember?"
Jackson placed the hairdryer back and asked, "Which day?"
"The day you brought me back to the Frane family fourteen years ago," Lillian replied.
Jackson pondered for a moment, but he only remembered bringing her back that day, the details already fuzzy.
Seeing his expression, Lillian knew he had forgotten, so she continued, "That day, I almost died because of Bob, barely escaping. I thought everything seemed blood-red, and my mouth was filled with the taste of blood. You brought me back and called the family doctor, but I refused to let the doctor come near me. You then stuffed an orange candy into my mouth. I still remember what you said at that time."
A faint smile played on Lillian's face as she said, "You said, 'Eating candy makes the pain go away. Is it sweet? If you let the doctor take a look, I will reward you with a big jar of such candies with different flavors. Would you like to taste them?'"
Hearing her words, Jackson seemed to have a vague memory.
He chuckled slightly. "So, I just use a candy to soothed you back then?"
Lillian nodded with a smile, lowering her eyes to hide her surging emotions.
He didn't know that it was the first time in two years since being abandoned by the Sivans at the age of six that she had tasted candy again, which Jackson gave it to her.
After that day, once again, she became a child who could enjoy candies as if a ray of light had entered her world.
The next day, Jackson really gave her a jar of colorful candies, all fruit-flavored.
However, her favorite for so many years remained the orange-flavored candy, and she always remembered the taste of that candy that night.
"Yes, you've only had this one trick for so many years!" Lillian teased Jackson with a pout.
Jackson clicked his tongue, looking at her with a rare smile in his deep eyes, appearing very gentle.
"Teasing me? But it turns out this trick works well on you," he said.
Lillian's ears turned slightly red as she lowered her head.
Sitting there, she seemed unusually gentle.
Jackson leaned down slightly, lifted her small face with his hand, and raised her little head, asking, "You're an adult yet still need candy to be coaxed. Are you shy?"
Lillian blushed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Suddenly, Jackson spoke, "I used to trick you to be my sister with a candy. Can I do the same thing to win you back as my wife now?"
