Chapter 422

No matter what, this wasn't what Lillian wanted.

'Why are there only two possibilities?' she wondered.

Lillian shot Wendy a cold look and snapped, "Maybe Jackson just doesn't want to waste police resources. With his resources, he can figure it out fast. Stop trying to sway me."

Wendy clenched her fists and sneered. "You're so naive. Do you trust Jackson that much? The Price family is crucial to him. Susan almost got killed by that letter. Do you think he'd worry about wasting police resources?"

Lillian mocked, "Wendy, stop with the nonsense. Seeing you try to ruin our relationship is almost pitiful. We're getting married soon, but don't worry, you're not invited. We both know who did this. Be ready for the consequences."

She glanced at Wendy, then looked away, ignoring her.

Wendy watched her leave, eyes dark with anger.

Jackson escorted Dominic to a nearby lounge, then came back to find Lillian. "I need to head back to Star Group. Should I have Floyd take you home?"

Lillian nodded. "I'll check on Max first, then head back."

Jackson gently touched the top of her head.

Adara, who had been anxiously waiting, stepped forward, looking worried. "Mr. Frane, I didn't leak anything. Will you still help with my husband's illness?"

Jackson nodded calmly. "This isn't your fault. Your husband's surgery is set for next week. I'll arrange for someone to take you and your daughter back to Averlake."

Adara was overjoyed. She bowed to Jackson and thanked Lillian. "Thank you, Mrs. Frane. I need to go back to care for my husband, so I can't stay for your wedding. I wish you both a happy life. If you ever come to Australia, I'll treat you to a meal."

Lillian shook her hand. "I hope your husband recovers soon."

Adara left, filled with urgency and joy.

Lillian looked at Jackson. "Adara must really love her husband."

Jackson smiled. "Yes, she does. But why are you jealous?"

Lillian glared at him, embarrassed. "It's your fault for keeping things from me! Is there anything else you're hiding?"

Jackson thought about the latest findings on Star's whereabouts but decided not to share it yet. "I wouldn't dare hide anything from you anymore."

His tone was teasing and affectionate. Lillian smiled, squeezed his hand, and said, "I'll go see Max. Don't work too late. Come home early."

Her tone was gentle and caring.

Jackson felt warm inside, kissed her forehead, and let go of her hand.

Wendy stood nearby, watching them with envy, her nails digging into her bag.

She was curious about what kind of wedding Lillian would have.

Back at his office, Jackson opened a drawer and took out an old diary and the confidential letter from today.

The handwriting on both was almost identical.

He knew Lillian's handwriting well. It tilted slightly to the left, a habit that was hard to change. It reflected a personality that suppressed emotions, was sensitive, and cautious.

Lillian's writing used to tilt more, but Jackson had helped her correct it. It had improved, but a slight tilt remained.
