Chapter 609
Star hit the ground, clutching her face, a clear handprint marking her cheek.
"Lillian, I was just trying to help and explain things. How could you do this?"
Lillian's fingers shook; she didn't want to say another word to Star.
She couldn't stand Star's innocent act. Clenching her fists, Lillian ignored Star and walked away.
Star, with a servant's help, tried to go after Lillian, but Barry raised his hand to stop her.
"Ms. Price, I recorded everything you just said. Whether it was out of goodwill or to provoke, should I play it for Mr. Frane and let him decide?"
Star froze, glaring at the phone in Barry's hand.
Back in the hospital room, Barry poured Lillian a glass of water. Seeing her slightly red eyes, he said, "You're still recovering; you can't let yourself get too upset."
Lillian took a sip of water. "Barry, I know. I'll keep it together."
Barry didn't push it and changed the subject, chatting with Lillian for a while. He brought up Alice and studying abroad, asking Lillian about her future plans.
"Lillian, Alice finished her world tour ages ago and is back teaching. You two still keep in touch, right?"
Lillian did keep in touch with Alice, often sending her dance videos via email.
Alice would sometimes reply, sharing her hopes for Lillian's future studies.
Lillian had planned to continue studying abroad once Taylor was a bit older. But now, with Taylor gone, her emotions were all over the place, and she couldn't think straight.
"Lillian, study abroad. A change of scenery might help you forget everything about Miracalia. Your stage will be much bigger. If you decide, I'll set everything up for you..."
He spoke with concern, but Lillian cut him off, "Barry, thanks for your kindness. I'll think about it."
But right now, she just wasn't in the mood.
She always felt like Taylor was still here, like he was still around.
She didn't want to leave Miracalia now, as if leaving would erase all traces of Taylor.
Barry hadn't expected her to turn down his suggestion.
He looked up, the light reflecting off his glasses hiding the complex emotions in his eyes.
He actually wanted to ask if she refused to leave because she still loved Jackson.
But then Lillian looked at him and asked, "Barry, I want to transfer to your hospital. Do you have any available beds?"
Lillian didn't want to stay in this hospital anymore. The Price family was here, and since she ran into them today, she might run into them again.
And Jackson was also here; she couldn't find peace.
"I'll check for you." Barry's handsome face showed a faint smile.
Lillian said, "Thanks, Barry. If it's convenient, I'd like to transfer right away."
Barry nodded, stood up, and went out with his phone. He came back quickly.
"Lillian, I've made the arrangements. I'll handle the discharge procedures for you. I'll call a nurse to help you pack, and the car I arranged will be here soon."
Lillian nodded. Barry went out, and soon a nurse came in to help Lillian pack her things, put on a hat, and wear a coat.
Lillian was helped downstairs, and sure enough, a business car pulled up in front of the inpatient building.
The driver got out, took the bag from the nurse, and said, "Ms. Young, please get in the car."
The nurse helped Lillian down the steps and to the car. The driver opened the door, and Lillian got in with her head down.
The door closed, and the driver returned to the driver's seat and drove off.
Lillian leaned against the seat, closed her eyes, and slowly exhaled. But then she smelled a faintly familiar scent in the car.
She suddenly opened her eyes and looked at the back seat. At the same time, a man's deep voice sounded from behind her.
"Lillian, where do you think you're going?"
