Chapter 16 Mr. Frane's Bad Breath and Lack of Vigor

The century-old foundation of the Frane Group was like an old aircraft carrier, showing all its flaws, making reforms difficult.

Eight years ago, Jackson decisively split Star Group from the Frane Group, injecting new vitality. Under his leadership, Star Group's astonishing pace of development had long left the Frane Group far behind.

Today, the Frane Group was in the hands of Jackson's father, Martin Frane, while Star Group, led by Jackson, radiated with even greater brilliance. Although Jackson was supposed to be the successor of the Frane Group, it was clear that the group relied heavily on his guidance.

A year ago, in an attempt to foster a relationship between Lillian and Jackson, Lyra arranged for Lillian to work as a junior clerk in the president's office at Star Group, keeping her relationship with Jakson a secret from the ordinary employees.

Lily, who also worked in the president's office alongside Lillian, stumbled upon the divorce agreement that Lillian had accidentally left in the printer today. She approached Lillian's desk with concern and hinted subtly, "Lillian, has there been a change in your family? You can apply for annual leave to deal with it."

Lillian shook her head and replied, "Thank you for your concern. Everything is fine at home."

Lily further hinted, "Marriage requires effort from both parties. Listen to me! Don't act impulsively! Perhaps you should have a child; having a child will make a man more caring."

"I do want to, but I feel helpless," Lillian replied casually while continuing to work.

Little did Lily know, she misunderstood, "Is your husband impotent?"

"Not exactly, he can have sexual intercourse, but unfortunately, they are all ineffective," Lillian explained.

Lily was shocked. "Your husband has erectile dysfunction! Oh, he has bad breath and erectile dysfunction. How can you stand it? Since you've made up your mind, I support you! Get a divorce from him!"

Earlier, Lily saw a man and a woman kissing in the parking lot, and the woman resembled Lillian. She asked Lillian if her husband had come to pick her up. Lillian replied that she had never kissed her husband, leading to rumors in the office about Lillian's husband having severe bad breath.

Lillian had no way to explain, but the thought of Jackson, with his noble and aloof demeanor, being described as having bad breath and suffering from erectile dysfunction made her smile inwardly.

"Are you all free during work hours? Star Group doesn't employ idle people!" Terry Cooper's stern voice interrupted.

Lillian turned around to see Jackson's serious expression, her smile freezing on her face. Terry, aware of Lillian's identity, cautiously glanced at Jackson after speaking, his forehead breaking out in a cold sweat.

"Lillian, come into the office," Jackson said as he entered his office.

"Mr. Frane is as charming as ever." Lily nudged Lillian. "You're so beautiful,so why not dump your impotent husband and go for Mr. Frane?"

Colleagues nearby started to gossip as well.

"Mr. Frane isn’t interested in Lillian. She's been a year under his nose. If he hasn't made a move by now, will he ever?"

"Don't you read the news? Mr. Frane and Miss Sivan are already a couple."

"Mr. Frane must be in love, maybe even have a child with Miss Sivan!"

Lillian self-deprecatingly thought that sometimes the words of passersby inadvertently revealed the truth.

How could Lillian have been under Jackson’s nose for just a year?

She heard that she was only three days old when Jackson, following Lyra, visited the hospital to see her. And she even peed on Jackson. By that count, Lillian had been under his nose for twenty-two years.

If there was no love between them in the past, there would never be any in this lifetime.

With her resignation report printed, Lillian walked into the office.

Jackson sat behind his desk, looking at documents with a dignified and distant air. Upon hearing footsteps, he didn't even lift his head, his voice cold and indifferent.

"Is this how you reflect?" Jackson asked.

Before he could finish his sentence, Lillian placed two documents in front of him: a divorce agreement and a resignation report.

"Mr. Frane, please sign these. Thank you." Lillian said.
