Chapter 650

Anouk had been in a bad mood ever since she arrived in Miracalia because Lillian inexplicably appeared. Back in Seaspring Valley City, she had always been the little princess of the Kelly family and its heir.

Flora mistook Lillian for Ophelia and couldn't stop thinking about her, and even Oberon started giving Lillian special attention. Ambrose was all over Lillian, not even trying to hide it.

All this made Anouk furious and jealous. Last night, she went on a shopping spree and felt great.

When she got home, she saw Flora overseeing the servants making a nutritious meal. She thought it was a late-night snack for her since she got home late.

She asked for some soup, but Flora stopped her, saying it was for Lillian and she couldn't touch it.

She, the proud heir of the Kelly Family, couldn't even get a sip of soup in her own house!

Later, Ambrose came down and personally took the food to the hospital.

He stayed there for ages, not coming back until after ten.

Now, early in the morning, Flora was fussing about going to the hospital again. Was Oberon and Ambrose going too?

The whole family was revolving around Lillian, who had lost her child during childbirth. What kind of spell were they under?

Anouk suddenly lost her appetite.

She put down her utensils and said, "I'm not hungry, I'm not eating."

She pushed back her chair to get up, and sure enough, Oberon grabbed her arm, smiling gently. "Come on, how can you skip breakfast? Our Anouk is the young lady of the Kelly Family, always our little princess. How can you lose confidence and be jealous of an outsider?"

Hearing Oberon call Lillian an outsider, Anouk's mood lifted a bit, and she pouted. "But Grandma is so good to outsiders, she hasn't paid attention to me lately. I feel like an outsider. I just want to be close to her, but she makes me so sad."

Her eyes reddened, and she clung to Oberon's arm, acting spoiled and aggrieved, looking at Flora with longing eyes.

Oberon, feeling sorry for his only granddaughter, immediately patted Anouk's arm to comfort her. "Have you forgotten that your grandma is the one who loves and spoils you the most in the family? Who did she give all her treasured items to? Isn't the necklace you're wearing specially made for you by her? Your grandma just misses your mother too much. Anouk, you're the most understanding and kind, can't you be considerate of her?"

Flora used to love jewelry and collected many precious pieces, giving Anouk expensive jewelry as gifts on every holiday.

Over the years, the value of these jewels added up to billions of dollars. The ruby necklace Anouk was wearing now was one of Flora's former collections.

Anouk blushed and rubbed her head against Oberon's shoulder. "I know, don't make fun of me."

She then got up and went to Flora, hugging her neck and kissing her cheek.

Flora, displeased, rubbed her cheek hard as soon as Anouk walked away.

Anouk sat back down and continued eating, but casually said, "Lillian helped me at the bar, helped Grandma at the airport, and even dances in Ambrose's troupe. I don't know if Miracalia is too small or if she has a special connection with our family."

Flora was getting on in years, but with the Kelly Family's clout in Seaspring Valley City, lots of folks tried to cozy up to her to get in good with the family.

Anouk's words hinted that Lillian was just another one of those people, except this time, Flora was totally duped.

Ambrose, munching on his breakfast, glanced up at Anouk when he heard her.

Yesterday, he had Dashiell dig up some old photos of Bob and Mary from back in the day.

Maybe because Anouk was always pampered and had that proud, polished look, Ambrose couldn't see any resemblance between her and the plain-looking Bob and Mary.

"Ambrose, why are you staring at me? Did I say something wrong?" Anouk suddenly snapped.

Ambrose's eyes narrowed a bit, and just then, his phone buzzed.

He looked down, unlocked it, and opened Facebook, scrolling through his feed.

The next second, his finger froze on the screen, his eyes lighting up with sudden emotion.

He quickly looked back at Anouk, a smirk forming on his lips. "You're right. Lillian does have a deep connection with the Kelly Family."

Anouk's heart skipped a beat. Ambrose's words felt loaded, making her uneasy.

She gripped her spoon tightly, wanting to dig deeper, but Ambrose had already turned away and was talking to Oberon. "Grandpa, there's something about the group collaboration I need to discuss with you."

"Let's talk in the study after breakfast," Oberon nodded.

After breakfast, Ambrose helped Oberon upstairs.

Flora was still set on going to the hospital, and the servants were trying to talk her out of it.

Anouk walked over and said, "Grandma, I'll go to the hospital with you to see Ophelia."

Flora's eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly.

Anouk then told the servants, "I'll go out with Grandma. If Grandpa asks, just let him know."

The servants agreed, and Anouk helped Flora out the door.

Upstairs in the study...

Oberon sat down and asked, "Isn't the collaboration going smoothly? What's the issue?"

Ambrose didn't rush to answer. He poured Oberon a glass of water and sent a message to his private doctor, telling him to be ready to come over.

After getting a reply, Ambrose looked at Oberon and spoke up. "Grandpa."

He hesitated, unsure where to start, and wondered if he should just show Oberon the paternity test results.

But thinking about Oberon's love for Anouk, he worried it might be too shocking. Oberon seemed energetic but actually had high blood pressure and chronic headaches.

This trip to Miracalia was also to treat his headaches.

"It's not about business, is it? Seeing you so hesitant, let me guess, is it about Lillian?" Oberon took a sip of water and smiled.

Ambrose's expression shifted slightly, thinking Oberon had caught on, but then Oberon continued,

"Are you interested in Lillian and afraid I won't approve? Don't worry, although I hoped you could be my grandson-in-law, if you don't want to and don't have feelings for Anouk, I..."

Before Oberon could finish, Ambrose said, "Grandpa, I'm willing to be your grandson-in-law."

Oberon was stunned. Ambrose and Anouk had grown up under his watch. Previously, Anouk had chased after Ambrose, and Ambrose had almost left the Kelly Family to avoid her.

Oberon couldn't understand why Ambrose suddenly agreed now, especially since Ambrose clearly showed affection for Lillian; it made no sense that he was unwilling to be with Anouk before but changed his mind now that he had someone he liked. A fleeting thought crossed Oberon's mind.
