Chapter 697

Terry looked at Jackson's increasingly cold stare and, for the sake of the penthouse, he couldn't back down. "Mr. Frane, Mrs. Frane didn't accept your flowers. You should really try these handmade roses. First, it shows you put in effort, full of your sincerity for her.

Secondly, she's very soft-hearted. When she sees you lowering yourself and putting in so much effort and time to make her happy, she'll definitely soften and keep the flowers. Once the flowers are kept, she'll think of you every day when she sees them."

Terry kept rambling, but Jackson didn't budge.

Terry's voice gradually weakened, thinking that Jackson still had principles and boundaries.

He gave up, "Sorry, Mr. Frane. I thought you could practice some crafts now, and in the future, when you and Mrs. Frane have kids, this skill would come in handy. I didn't think it through. I'll leave now."

After saying that, Terry turned and quickly walked out. Unexpectedly, something he said seemed to touch Jackson.

Jackson suddenly spoke, "Have Nora stay late tonight."

Terry, having just been rejected by Jackson, felt he might have been a bit out of line. He didn't expect Jackson would actually take his suggestion. He could hardly believe it.

After a moment of shock, Terry quickly turned back and said, "Alright, Mr. Frane, I'll arrange it."

Terry had to ensure that Nora staying late wouldn't be seen by other employees.

Otherwise, if Star Group's employees saw Jackson hiding in the office at night making handmade roses, tomorrow's headlines would be something like #Shocking: Star Group's CEO Has This Peculiar Hobby

At Kelly Media, Lillian had a pretty chill morning; Thalia didn't assign her any specific tasks or have anyone guide her.

Lillian only helped a colleague print two documents. Near the end of the workday, she took her cup and walked to the break room.

Before entering, she heard Cecilia and two others talking.

"The project department hasn't hired any new people recently. She must have gotten in through connections. And having the last name Kelly, she might really be the heiress of the Kelly Family."

"How could that be? If she really were, why would she be stuck in our small project department? I checked; her clothes aren't from any high-end brands. Besides, Ms. Fairchild is clearly giving her the cold shoulder. Even if she's a relative of the Kelly Family, she must be the poor kind."

"Looking at her face, one might think she's had plastic surgery. A woman who goes to such lengths wouldn't be content as a lowly employee. She might be aiming to sign a contract as an actress, getting close to some company executive. It's much easier than going around auditioning. Smart and opportunistic."

Lillian paused at the door, then stepped inside.

The three saw her, their faces slightly awkward for a second before they nonchalantly tried to leave.

Lillian suddenly took a step, blocking the exit. She glanced at Cecilia with a faint look. "You said I had plastic surgery? What about you? Did you botch your surgery and now spread rumors every day?"

"You!" Cecilia didn't expect Lillian to retort directly, her features twisted in anger.

Cecilia indeed had cosmetic work done. At first glance, it looked fine, but on closer inspection, it was awkward. When her expression became intense, it looked even more distorted.

Doris and Elena quickly held Cecilia back, whispered a few words to her, and pulled her out.

After getting a cup of water from the break room, Lillian saw that no one was reporting to Thalia in her office, so she went over and knocked on the door.

She entered, closed the door, and walked to the desk. Thalia, who was working, looked up with a friendly smile, "What's up? Is there any problem?"

Judging by Thalia's attitude alone, it didn't seem like she was targeting Lillian.

Lillian also smiled and said, "Ms. Fairchild, I'm pretty much settled in. I wanted to ask about my future tasks or if there are any projects that need extra hands."

Thalia replied, "Lillian, no need to rush. You don't have much work experience. You can observe how your colleagues work for now. If anyone needs help, you can assist them. You did well this morning, helping print two documents. No rush."

Lillian wasn't entirely sure if Thalia was targeting her. After all, Thalia might just not have had time to assign her tasks.

But after a morning and hearing Cecilia and the others talk, she realized Thalia didn't treat every new employee this way.

Lillian understood it very well. She just wasn't sure who was behind Thalia, but she had a guess.

Lillian smiled and said, "You really care about me. I only got up twice to print documents this morning, and you noticed."

Thalia's smile stiffened slightly, then she forced it back. "Of course, new employees need extra attention. It's good to be eager, but don't rush. The current projects are all being handled. It wouldn't be fair to others if I suddenly added you. I'll sort things out and call you when there's a suitable project. You can go now."

Lillian could tell Thalia's words were just excuses to keep her sidelined.

But Lillian pressed her lips together, eventually nodded, and turned to leave.

After the office door closed, Thalia made a phone call. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, a fawning smile on her face. "Yes, she's been here all morning, didn't do much, just organized her workspace and helped a colleague print two documents. I'll take good care of her and won't let her get too tired, don't worry."

Thalia was speaking when Lillian's eerie voice suddenly sounded behind her. "Thalia, are you talking about me?"

Thalia was startled, turning around with a scream.

Then Thalia saw Lillian, who had clearly left, standing in front of her, eyes curiously on the phone she was holding.

"Thalia, who cares about me so much? How can I not know?" Lillian said, reaching out to take the phone from Thalia's hand.

Thalia, caught off guard by Lillian's sudden return and feeling guilty, didn't react in time and let Lillian take the phone.

Watching Lillian put the phone to her ear, Thalia's face changed.

Lillian greeted the person on the other end, "Ruby? Is that you?"

There was a moment of silence, then a gentle female voice responded, "Lillian, it's me. I was worried about your health and couldn't rest easy, so I asked Thalia to take extra care of you. Please don't blame me for meddling."

The person on the other end was Ruby Lawson, Kenneth's current wife and the acting president of The Kelly Media.

The Kelly Media was founded by Ophelia. After she passed away, Flora took over The Kelly Media.

The Kelly Media thrived under Flora's leadership, but eight years ago, Flora suddenly fell ill, leaving the company without a leader.

Ambrose had many companies and affairs to manage, and although he held a position at The Kelly Media, he didn't come often. Instead, Ruby became the acting president.

The Kelly Media's headquarters were in Seaspring Valley City, but Miracalia had economic advantages over it. After the branch in Miracalia was established, the focus gradually shifted there.

But Ruby should still be in Seaspring Valley City. Lillian didn't expect Ruby to care so much about her from such a distance.
