Chapter 298 Deceive Me?
Jackson looked at Wendy coldly, and Wendy suddenly felt as if her heartbeat had stopped, a chill rising from her feet.
She barely held herself together, tears welling up as she said, "Just now, Lillian and Daisy almost got into a fight. I was too anxious."
Daisy frowned, shielding Wendy behind her as she spoke, "Jackson, Lillian's hand just got a little scratched. Why is she being so delicate? Wendy almost got pushed over and had a miscarriage, and my wrist got scratched, too. Wendy protected me, and she's kind."
Jackson interrupted Daisy's rambling in a deep voice, "How did you find out I was in the hospital?"
He had kept his injury a secret and hadn't told anyone in the Frane family.
When Wendy made the call, she had begged Daisy not to tell Jackson it was her.
Daisy's face was stern as she replied, "Of course, I came to the hospital to see Jeffrey and accidentally saw Terry coming to the hospital. That's how I found out you were injured! Don't hide things from me. You got hurt because of Lillian, didn't you? Jackson, can't you stop protecting her? Hasn't she hurt you enough? Wendy is carrying your child, and you..."
Jackson cut Daisy off, "I'll say it again, her child is not mine!"
His words were firm and resolute, leaving no room for Daisy to think more.
Daisy was stunned, unable to accept this fact, and angrily said, "Jackson, how can you deny your child for Lillian? If the child isn't yours, why did you agree to the amniocentesis paternity test a few days ago?"
Jackson's eyes turned cold as he looked at Wendy and questioned, "Have I ever touched you? Is the child you're carrying mine?"
His gaze was icy, and the pressure of it was like an avalanche, making Wendy's face turn pale.
Wendy hadn't expected Jackson to deny it so thoroughly.
She thought that before her child was born, Jackson would hold back from revealing the truth.
Daisy turned around, anxiously urging Wendy, "Wendy, say something! Didn't you tell me the child is Jackson's?"
She was still counting on the child in Wendy's belly to do a blood type test with Jeffrey.
Wendy's body swayed, but under Jackson's cold and harsh gaze, she didn't dare to lie.
She could feel that Jackson had no tolerance for her anymore.
Wendy's lips turned pale as she cried and looked at Daisy. "I never explicitly said the child was Mr. Frane's. You misunderstood."
Daisy looked at Wendy, feeling a knot in her chest, her vision darkening.
Jackson said coldly, "Mom, you claim to be worried about my injury, but you haven't said a single word of concern about me. You like to be exploited by others, aren't you?"
Daisy was furious. She turned back and said, "Jackson, I'm not..."
She wanted to explain, but Jackson didn't want to hear more.
He glanced at Harry, who was standing not far away, then at Wendy.
Then he forcefully wrapped his arm around Lillian's waist and took her into the ward, slamming the door shut.
Daisy was left outside, her expression extremely embarrassed and angry.
She turned around and slapped Wendy hard across the face, yelling, "You bitch! Who do you think you are? How dare you deceive me?"
"Daisy, please let me explain..." Wendy tried to argue, but as soon as she spoke, Daisy slapped her again, causing a buzz around Wendy's earsand blood to trickle from the corner of her mouth.
"Daisy, I'm sorry!" Before Wendy could speak again, Daisy grabbed her hair and slapped her twice more.
Daisy's long, manicured nails scratched Wendy's face.
Wendy's screams attracted the attention of the nurses, who peeked in to watch. Concerned about her image, Daisy finally let go of Wendy.
She straightened her messy clothes and quickly left.
