Chapter 731

The next day, Lillian woke up very early and went to Frane Hospital to see Max.

After Max woke up, his body functions recovered quickly.

In the morning, he was already able to speak in complete sentences while leaning against the hospital bed. He looked behind Lillian and asked with concern, "Where's Jackson? Didn't he come with you?"

Lillian placed the various nutritional supplements she brought on the table, and her smile almost faltered at his words. "Max, you never used to call Jackson so affectionately!"

In the past, Max always referred to Jackson as Mr. Frane.

Now that she and Jackson were no longer together, Max seemed to be more affectionate.

"Did you two have a fight?" Max asked.

Lillian quickly shook her head. "No, we're doing fine. It's just that I've never heard you call him so affectionately before, it's a bit strange."

Max then laughed. He hadn't called Jackson that way before because, before his accident, Lillian and Jackson weren't married yet.

At that time, Jackson seemed very aloof and arrogant, and Max was worried about leaving Lillian with him.

But now that he had woken up and learned that over the past two years, Jackson had kept his promise and married Lillian.

And the high-and-mighty Jackson was even willing to lower himself to take care of him, this burden, for Lillian.

Max felt very comforted, thinking that he had misunderstood Jackson before. Actually, Max had realized Jackson was a good man.

Before Max could voice these thoughts, a familiar deep voice sounded from the doorway. "What's so strange about it?"

Accompanied by the voice, Jackson's tall and upright figure walked in, heading straight for Lillian.

Today, Jackson was wearing a British-style suit, a brown Welsh checkered suit, looking noble and wealthy. Bathed in the warm sunlight streaming through the window, his innate steady charm was even more pronounced.

It seemed to add a touch of warmth and approachability that his usual cool-toned black suits lacked.

Lillian watched Jackson approach, feeling a bit dazed. By the time she snapped out of it, Jackson was already by her side, naturally wrapping his arm around her slender waist.

Jackson looked down at Lillian and said, "I told you to wait for me while I parked the car. Why did you come up by yourself?"

Lillian looked up to meet his focused, smiling gaze, and a faint blush crept up her cheeks.

She couldn't help but thought, 'This man, he clearly said yesterday that he has a full schedule today and no time. Why does he show up in Max's ward so early? And, does he put a tracker on me?'

Lillian's thoughts was obvious, her expressive features changing constantly. Jackson gazed at her, smiling deeply.

It seemed to say, "Are you really not surprised to see me at all?" Or perhaps, "I'm playing along for Max's sake, and you don't even thank me."

The two of them looked at each other, and to Max, it seemed like they were exchanging loving glances.

Max's face was full of a comforting, joyful smile, and he said, "Lillian, you and Jackson should sit down. I have doctors, nurses, and caregivers here, you don't need to come every day."

Lillian had no choice but to pull Jackson to sit by the bed.

No sooner had they sat down than Max said, "You two should sleep in more so I can become an uncle sooner."

Lillian's face stiffened slightly, and Max noticed her expression and looked at Jackson. "What's wrong? You two haven't planned for that yet?"

Max thought that since Lillian's marriage was happy now, having a kid would be great. After all, Lillian had graduated several years ago.

Jackson's large hand returned to Lillian's waist, pulling her into his arms, and he said to Max, "Of course, we have plans. I couldn't want it more, but I also respect Lillian's decision."

Max nodded repeatedly, looking at Jackson with even more comfort and warmth.

Jackson then leaned down and whispered in Lillian's ear, "Shall we have one?"

Lillian stiffened her back, glaring at Jackson to tell him to stop.

She then looked at Max and said, "Max, my career hasn't even started yet, so there's no rush for a baby."

They chatted with Max for a while longer before leaving the ward together.

Jackson kept his arm around Lillian's waist the entire time. Even after they had walked quite a distance from the ward, he showed no intention of letting go.

"Have you had enough?" Lillian felt the warmth of Jackson's large hand through her sweater, making her skin feel unusually hot.

She reminded Jackson to let go, just as they reached the elevator. The elevator doors opened, and instead of letting go, Jackson pulled her into the elevator and pressed her into a corner.

"What are you doing? There's a camera, watch your behave!"

Although there was no one else in the elevator at the moment, people could enter at any time in a hospital.

Lillian was enveloped in Jackson's woody scent, feeling the tension in his chest, inexplicably nervous.

Jackson placed one hand on the elevator handrail behind Lillian, his deep eyes locked onto her soft face, and said hoarsely, "You have taken me off the blacklist. What about in your heart?"

Jackson wanted to know if he had also been released from the blacklist in Lillian's heart, where he was once detested and avoided.

Jackson bent slightly, his voice sounding in Lillian's ear, his gaze burning on her blushing face.

Lillian's breathing was light, but she couldn't stop her increasingly rapid heartbeat.

She pressed her red lips together and heard herself say in a firm tone, "No, I told you, I only took you off the blacklist because I had something to ask you. Stop wishful thinking, now move!"

But her voice trembled slightly, and a beautiful blush spread from her ears to her cheeks.

She no longer had the cold, disdainful attitude she once had towards him.

"What if I want to be wishful? Lillian, I was very happy last night, I barely slept. I couldn't wait to see you, so I came here." Jackson looked at her trembling eyelashes, his Adam's apple bobbing as he spoke, inching closer. "I want to kiss you, may I?"

Lillian's slight initiative made him unable to control his wild thoughts, wanting to kiss her, wanting more.

He also wanted to stop her from saying those heartless and contradictory words.

Jackson's voice was low and filled with emotion and temptation.

Jackson's approach was slow, his deep eyes like a hawk's, fixed on her.

He didn't want to force her, giving her the chance to accept or refuse.

Their breaths mingled, lips drawing closer and closer.

Just as they were about to touch, Lillian suddenly turned her head away.

Jackson's warm lips brushed past the corner of Lillian's mouth, stopping just at her blood-red earlobe.
