Chapter 560 The Recorder
Lillian and Jackson took Star to the hospital room together.
Lillian had Mary come in to apologize and said, "Miss Price, she injured you. Do you need me to help call the police for you?"
Mary was furious upon hearing this and pointed at Lillian. "Lillian...!"
Before she could finish cursing Lillian, Jackson raised his hand and twisted Mary's pointing hand, causing her to scream in pain and kneel on the ground.
Jackson released his grip, looked down at Mary, and said coldly, "I don't allow anyone to offend my wife and kid.
Mary clutched her hand in pain, not daring to make a sound.
Lillian watched this scene, her eyes flickering slightly.
Jackson took a tissue to wipe his fingers, and Star, lying on the hospital bed, suddenly spoke up, "Lillian, wasn't I right? Jackson really cares about you. Think about what I just said."
She looked envious, but her hand under the blanket was tightly clenched to suppress her inner jealousy and anger.
"What did you say to Lillian?" Jackson immediately asked.
Star blinked and smiled at Jackson, saying, "Are you afraid I'll say something wrong? I just told Lillian that I've realized I don't love you, so I'm preparing to go abroad. I also told Lillian that you love her very much and asked her to give you another chance."
Jackson looked at Lillian and asked, "Is that true?"
Lillian pressed her lips together and nodded.
Jackson then turned to Star, his expression much softer, and said warmly, "Thank you for today. I'll get the best scar removal specialist to ensure your burns don't leave any scars."
Star shook her head and rejected, "No need, Jackson. Consider it my atonement for my mother. As for calling the police, it's not necessary. After all, it's Lillian's mother, and I ran into her myself. I'm in some pain and want to rest now."
Her face remained pale, etched with pain and exhaustion.
Jackson nodded, signaling the bodyguard to take Mary away, and then he led Lillian out.
As Lillian left, she glanced back at Star, who was lying there with her eyes closed, quietly.
Lillian felt a pang of unease.
She thought Star would use her injury as an excuse to avoid going abroad, but Star didn't.
Star seemed genuinely trying to make amends for her mistakes.
'Is it possible that Susan had been solely responsible for everything?' Lillian wondered.
As the hospital room door closed, Star, lying there with a calm expression, suddenly opened her eyes.
Her eyes, filled with resentment and bitterness, shot towards the door.
Although Susan had taken the blame and died, Jackson still harbored a grudge against the Price family. He was no longer as close and trusting as before.
He even had people keeping tabs on the Price family.
Today, to win back Jackson's trust, she had to play her cards right and make a sacrifice.
The pain from the burns felt like it was branded into her body, it hurt so much.
Star gritted her teeth and swore that the pain she suffered today would be returned to Lillian tenfold, a hundredfold in the future!
She bit her lip to endure the pain, took out her phone, and made a call.
Soon, the call connected, and Star anxiously said, "Jackson has sent people to investigate the surveillance and find the recorder. If they can't find it, they'll definitely suspect me!"
When she and Mary collided, the recorder fell from Mary's pocket and landed beneath her.
She had an idea at that moment and decided to hide it, not expecting that the recorder seemed to contain some secret.
When she was brought to the hospital room earlier, she had already carefully sent the recorder to Dominic's room.
"Don't worry about the recorder, I'll handle it," Dominic said in a deep voice.
