Chapter 177 Lillian Degraded Herself

Lillian bit her lip and said, "I just wanted to save Shirley. I thought..."

"What did you think? Did you think that I would go easy on you? That I would just go along with you no matter what you say?" Jackson easily deciphered what Lillian didn't finish saying.

However, the more he understood, the more despicable he became.

He saw through her, deliberately humiliating her, causing more tears to well up in Lillian's tightly closed eyes.

Jackson was annoyed by her tears and became sharper in his words.

He said, "I only have a soft spot for my sister and wife. Do you deserve it now? You present yourself as a toy, then cry in self-pity. Are you that lowly?"

He brought up a foolish mistake of hers four years ago when she had drugging him, and now she still hadn't learned her lesson.

Thinking that she would rather degrade herself like this than turn back to being his wife, Jackson wished he could crush her rebellious spirit.

Lillian couldn't take his humiliating words anymore. She opened her eyes, which were burning red.

"Yes, I was wrong! I was despicable. I have learned my lesson. Can you let me go now? Don't be lured by me like a lustful person."

Jackson's forehead twitched, his hand on Lillian's waist clenched suddenly into a fist.

He got up from her and stood upright, saying, "Don't worry. I don't have much interest in women who throw themselves at me."

Lillian hurriedly picked up her clothes and put them on in a panic while her phone kept ringing on the table.

She was afraid there might be new developments at the police station, so she hurried to pick up the phone. However, when she saw "Amelia" displayed on the caller ID, her face changed slightly.

She had used Amelia's identity for her prenatal check-ups and left her name.

She had taken sleeping pills today, feeling anxious, so she asked Amelia to check with the doctor. She didn't expect her to call back at the moment.

Lillian quickly hung up.

"Why aren't you answering?" Just as she breathed a sigh of relief, Jackson's slightly stern, questioning voice came from above.

Lillian felt nervous, and she dropped all the clothes she was holding to the ground.

Jackson wasn't one to meddle in others' affairs, so his question clearly indicated suspicion.

After suppressing her guilt, Lillian stared at Jackson with red eyes. "Am I in a suitable state to answer the phone now?"

Her voice still trembled slightly. However, Jackson didn't withdraw his scrutinizing gaze and asked again, "Is Amelia the one who accompanied you for the last check-up? Why is she contacting you?"

Lillian picked up the clothes again and casually replied, "I don't know."

She didn't bother to come up with a bunch of excuses, so Jackson dispelled his doubts. He turned and walked towards the stairs.

As soon as his figure disappeared into the living room, Lillian collapsed onto the sofa.

She was exhausted, and as she thought that Shirley was still at the police station and she had gained nothing from this trip, she cursed Jackson in her heart.

After Lillian got dressed, she lowered her head and left the villa. As she searched her phone contacts and wondered if she should seek help from Kevin, Jackson's car stopped in front of her,

Aiden rolled down the window and said, "Mrs. Frane, Mr. Frane asked me to take you to the police station."

To the police station?

That meant going to pick up Shirley.

Lillian stood frozen in place. As Aiden urged her, she quickly stepped forward to open the car door.

As she bent down to get in, she paused her movements, turning her head to look toward the second-floor bedroom.

At the window, a tall figure seemed to turn and disappear, causing an inexplicable pang in Lillian's heart.

In the end, Jackson did soften towards her.

In the car, Lillian sent a message to Amelia, and she responded quickly.

Amelia: [The doctor said it's okay to take a sleeping pill occasionally. Judging by your sleep duration, the dosage of the medication should not be large, so its impact on the fetus should not be significant. She wants you to relax and continue with your regular prenatal check-ups. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, seek medical attention promptly.]

Lillian thanked her, feeling completely relieved.

She hesitated for a moment with her phone and eventually sent a message to Jackson.

Lillian: [Thank you.]

Jackson didn't reply.
