Chapter 373 Confrontation
Barry was worried. "Can you hold on? If you're not feeling well, you should stay in the hospital for observation."
Lillian smiled faintly and said, "Barry, I'm fine. I just want to go home. Did you drive here? Could you give me a ride back?"
She didn't have the energy to get a cab, and her bag and phone had been taken by Daisy's bodyguards earlier.
"My car is in the parking lot. How about I carry you over?" Seeing Lillian's pale face, Barry asked tentatively.
Lillian shook her head. "I can walk."
Seeing her insistence, Barry shook his head and said, "You'd better not walk too much. Wait here for me."
He let go of Lillian and quickly walked away.
Barry found a wheelchair and was about to turn back when he saw a tall, imposing figure striding towards Lillian.
Without a word, Jackson bent down, picked Lillian up, and walked out with large strides.
Several bodyguards in black followed closely behind.
Barry immediately abandoned the wheelchair and rushed over, but Lillian had already been placed in the car by Jackson, leaving only Barry's coat on the ground.
In the car.
Lillian was placed on Jackson's lap, held tightly in his arms, silent and still.
She didn't struggle wildly. Perhaps due to psychological reasons or other factors, she felt persistent discomfort in the pierced area.
She was worried about Taylor, so she didn't dare to move recklessly.
The partition was raised, and what once felt like a spacious backseat now felt incredibly cramped.
The scent of Jackson that used to comfort Lillian now only irritated her.
Lillian struggled a bit, and Jackson immediately held her tighter, lowering his head to ask with concern, "What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable?"
Lillian looked up, her eyes dull and emotionless, and simply asked, "Can you let go of me?"
Jackson felt a pang in his heart as he met her gaze as if he couldn't breathe.
He raised a hand to cover Lillian's eyes, loosened his tie with the other, unbuttoned two buttons of his shirt, and said hoarsely, "Don't look at me like that."
Freed from his arms, Lillian immediately moved off Jackson's lap and sat to the side.
She turned her head to look out the window, coldly saying, "Take me to Shirley's place. I don't want to go back with you."
Jackson saw Lillian's resistance, and a dark, gloomy look flashed in his eyes.
Suppressing the turbulent emotions in his heart, he reached out to stroke Lillian's long hair, saying gently, "Come back to the Peace Mansion with me."
He wanted to say that he had already arranged for Emily to stay at the Peace Mansion. Lillian needed rest for the next few days, and with Emily's care, it would be more secure.
He couldn't be at ease if she went to Shirley's place.
However, before he could say that, he inadvertently said something that displeased Lillian.
Lillian seemed to reach her breaking point, slapped his hand away, and turned back coldly, sneering. "Why should I go back to the Peace Mansion with you? If you don't take me to Shirley's place, then stop the car now!"
Her emotions suddenly flared up, and she turned to pull at the car door, banging on the window.
Jackson frowned deeply, worried she might hurt herself. He raised his hand and picked Lillian up again. He placed her back on his lap, holding her tightly.
Lillian, in her agitation, struggled on his lap without care.
Jackson panicked and said in a deep voice, "Do you really hate me so much?"
Lillian shouted, "Yes! Let go of me. You've already gotten what you want. Whether it's a paternity test or a blood type test, I can't resist! Could you please just let me go?"
Jackson felt painful as he listened to her resentful words.
He gripped Lillian's chin tightly, forcing her to face him, his eyes dark and heavy, his voice hoarse. "Lillian, before you convict me, at least give me a chance to defend myself! Even murderers have the right to speak for themselves. In your eyes, am I already beyond redemption?"
