Chapter 62 Jackson Didn't Want Her Anymore

For the next few days, Lillian didn't see Jackson again.

She had unblocked his phone number, but he hadn't contacted her. It seemed like they had entered a cold war.

On this day, after finishing her performance at the Mermaid-themed restaurant, Lillian emerged from the water all wet.

She went to the changing room to rinse off and change clothes. Just as she was about to leave, the manager came over with a smile.

"Ms. Lillian, our regular customer Mr. Morris over there would like to invite you for a drink. He's a friend of the boss, so do me a favor."

Lillian frowned and said coldly, "It's not my job to accompany customers for drinks."

Saying that, she turned to leave.

As the manager was in a dilemma, a figure blocked Lillian's path.

It was a man in his mid-twenties, dressed sharply in a suit, looking decent, but with an air of arrogance that made people look down on him.

"Ms. Lillian, right? I liked your performance. Please accompany me for a meal as a favor, and this is for you."

Sean Morris dangled a set of BMW keys in front of her, his eyes scanning Lillian from head to toe.

Lillian was wearing a simple white t-shirt and jeans, not showing any skin, but her unassuming attire added a unique charm to her, making her look more sophisticated.

He flashed back to her appearance in the water just now. She gracefully swam in the water like a real deep-sea mermaid princess, with her gorgeous golden mermaid tail and flawless skin like snow, enchanting and pure.

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, it would be hard to imagine the graceful figure beneath her oversized white t-shirt, and how mesmerizing when she entwined around a man's waist with her two long legs, which were flexibly and alluringly in the water.

"Get lost!"

Sean's gaze was too blatant, and Lillian's expression turned cold.

The manager frowned. "Why are you talking to Mr. Morris like that?"

Sean smiled, gracefully stepped aside, and even patted the manager's shoulder to show he didn't mind.

As Lillian walked away, Sean watched her disappear, then withdrew his gaze, patted the manager's shoulder, and said, "That's the kind of personality I like. Send me her part-time schedule here."

After leaving the Mermaid-themed restaurant, Lillian felt as if she could sense his lecherous look and the disgusting feeling of being watched from behind.

She felt disgusted and annoyed, thinking that this part-time job might not last long.

But trouble never comes alone, Mary's call came at that moment.

Lillian answered, and Mary's sharp cries came through the phone.

"You brat, where did you go? Max and I are about to be kicked out of the hospital. If you don't come, Max and I will die together!"

Lillian hurriedly hailed a taxi and called Shirley while in the car.

Upon hearing about Max's situation, Shirley comforted Lillian and rushed to the hospital as well.
They met at the hospital entrance.

Outside Max's ward, it was chaotic as Mary was arguing with two nurses.

Seeing Lillian, Mary ran over and grabbed her.

"Lilian. Why is the hospital kicking us out? Isn't this hospital owned by the Frane Group? Let me tell you, I am the mother-in-law of your honorary dean!"

She scolded the nurses and pushed Lillian. "You brat, why are you standing there? Hurry up and call Jackson!"

Mary's voice was loud, and everyone looked at Lillian with strange eyes.

They were probably wondering where this Ms. Lillian came from.

Lillian felt embarrassed, and Shirley stepped forward to pull Mary away.

"How can you call yourself a mother? Besides asking Lillian for money from the Frane family, have you done anything decent? Max has been lying here for a year, and it's Lillian who has been taking care of him. How many times have you taken care of him? Don't you feel guilty?"

Mary stumbled back from Shirley's push, pointing at Shirley and cursing.

"I'm talking to my daughter, what's it to you?!"

"Do you treat Lillian as your daughter? Where were you when Bob was beating her? When she was hungry and rummaging through the trash barefoot for survival, where were you? When she was taken in by the Frane family, you only sought her out every month to ask for money. You let everyone call her a parasite. How dare you call yourself her mother? You only remember her when something happens."

Shirley was trembling with anger, thinking back to the first time she met Lillian.

Lillian had gone from a wealthy young lady to a neglected and helpless girl, scalding her hand while boiling water, and having nothing to eat at home, but Mary didn't care at all.

In the dead of winter, Lillian was kicked out by the drunken Bob, wearing only a thin shirt to rummage through the neighborhood's trash cans.

When Shirley found her, Lillian looked like a beautiful Persian cat whose expensive fur had been soaked, looking panicked and helpless.

Shirley couldn't understand why Mary, although not a good mother, had once fought with Wendy and Bob to protect her.

"Because Lillian was only brought back home at the age of six, you didn't have any feelings for her, even though she's your flesh and blood."

Mary's face turned purple from Shirley's scolding, looking embarrassed as she stared at Lillian.

"Lilian, I'm just too worried about your older brother. You must be worried too. Quickly ask Jackson what's going on."

Max's body relied on hospital equipment to survive, and Lillian had to send Max abroad for treatment. She couldn't let anything happen to Max before help arrived.

Lillian wanted to seek help from Barry, but the nurse informed her that Barry had gone to participate in a medical aid event and wouldn't be back for about half a month.

Thinking back to when Jackson mentioned replacing his position, Lillian became more convinced that it was Jackson's doing.

She took out her phone and called Jackson, her fingertips feeling icy cold.

Jackson knew that in her heart, Max was the only blood relative she had, yet he was using Max's life to manipulate her.

Was he trying to force her to go back?

Or was he seeking revenge for Wendy?
