Chapter 703

Lillian answered Ambrose's call, and sure enough, Ambrose was still at the restaurant.

Lillian explained the situation, and Ambrose immediately said, "I'll head to the hospital right away."

Lillian quickly refused, "No need, we're almost there. You just go about your business. If there's any new development, I'll contact you."

Ambrose knew she wasn't in the mood to chat, so he just agreed and reminded Lillian to contact him if needed before hanging up.

Although Lillian told him not to come, Ambrose naturally wouldn't listen to her.

He knew that although the Young Family treated Lillian poorly, Max genuinely cared for her.

In fact, when Lillian was taken back to the Kelly Family, Ambrose had negotiated with Jackson.

He wanted to bring Max to Seaspring Valley City, but Max's medical team was hired by Jackson.

This team helped Max show signs of recovery, and even though the Kelly Family had the resources, they couldn't guarantee better doctors.

Jackson refused Ambrose's request, citing that Max was not fit for a transfer.

In the end, Max stayed at Frane Hospital, but the Kelly Family sent a substantial medical fee to Frane Hospital's account every month.

Even so, for the past four months, it was mostly Jackson taking care of Max.

If Max woke up, Lillian would be immensely grateful to Jackson.

Thinking this, Ambrose quickened his pace and called Oberon to briefly explain the situation.

When Lillian arrived at the hospital, she rushed to Max's room and saw Mila rubbing her eyes as she came out.

Lillian's heart skipped a beat, and her legs went weak.

She stumbled, and Jackson, who had caught up, reached out to steady her.

"What happened?" Jackson asked Mila in a deep voice as he supported Lillian.

Mila, seeing Lillian's pale face, quickly waved her hands and said, "Don't worry, I'm just happy! Max really woke up. The doctors are inside checking on him."

Mila had been taking care of Max for the past two years, and although they hadn't interacted much, she had grown attached to him. Now that Max had woken up, she felt like she had witnessed a medical miracle and couldn't help but shed tears.

Hearing this, Lillian's mind went blank. When she came to her senses, she rushed into the room.

A group of medical staff was surrounding Max, conducting a physical examination.

Lillian looked at Max on the bed, her heart sinking because Max's eyes were closed, and he looked no different from usual.

"Max, Max!" Lillian called out twice, but Max didn't respond, and tears of anxiety started to fall from her eyes.

She turned around, and Jackson pulled her into his arms, smiling gently as he comforted her, "Don't worry, and don't doubt the doctors' judgment. I asked, and Max is indeed awake. He's just fallen asleep again."

Hearing that Max was asleep, Lillian became even more anxious. "How could he fall asleep? When will he wake up? Will he wake up again?"

She was anxious, and Jackson glanced at the attending doctor.

The doctor quickly said, "Don't worry, he's truly awake. His current sleep is completely different from before. Since he's woken up, he won't fall into a coma again."

Lillian slowly calmed down, remembering what she had learned before.

If a vegetable woke up, their initial periods of consciousness were very short, maybe just a minute or two.

She felt a bit guilty because she had planned to visit Max at the hospital today.

If she had known, she would have rescheduled lunch with Jackson and stayed at the hospital earlier.

She wondered if Max felt scared or upset waking up without seeing a familiar face.

Lillian asked a few more questions, thanked the doctors, and the medical staff finished their examination and left.

Once they were gone, Lillian could no longer contain her excitement.

She turned around, grabbed Jackson's arms, and started jumping up and down in joy. "Max woke up! This is wonderful!"

Jackson subtly withdrew his arms from Lillian's grasp, and the next second, he opened his arms and hugged her.

Lillian, immersed in her excitement and joy, didn't even notice. She even hugged Jackson back, sharing her happiness.

It wasn't until Jackson's arms tightened around her, preventing her from jumping, that she realized she was trapped in his familiar embrace, surrounded by his familiar scent, hearing his rapidly beating heart, and she was hugging him.

Lillian quickly let go, wanting to push him away, but then she remembered that Jackson had saved Max and that she had probably hugged him first out of excitement.

Lillian froze, feeling too embarrassed to push Jackson away.

Jackson, holding Lillian, lowered his head, his firm chin gently brushing against her soft hair.

Her scent filled his nostrils, making Jackson momentarily forget where he was. He felt her joy and her emotion.

Max had been lying in bed for over two years, and his waking up was like coming back to life, a miracle.

While Jackson was happy for Max, he also felt a deep sadness and longing. He thought, 'If only our Taylor could come back to life, I would give anything to make it happen.'

Terry, carrying some items, rushed in from outside. Seeing the scene in the room, Terry's eyes widened in shock, and he hurriedly turned to leave. "Mr.  Frane, I'm sorry, I'll leave right away!"

Lillian came to her senses and quickly pushed Jackson, speaking softly, "Let go of me."

Jackson tightened his arms for a moment, and just when Lillian thought he wouldn't let go, he suddenly released her.

It was as if that moment of tightening was an unconscious reflex.

But it left Lillian feeling like her heart skipped a beat.

She looked up but didn't dare meet Jackson's eyes, instead focusing on his high nose as she said, "Thank you."

With that, Lillian straightened her slightly disheveled clothes and called out to Terry, "Terry, what did you bring for Max?" To ease the awkwardness, Lillian walked towards Terry.

Terry quickly showed her the items, "Some nutritional supplements that might be useful. I'll need to check with the doctor to see if he can have them. I also bought a bouquet of the freshest flowers to replace the old ones."

Lillian smiled and nodded, "I'll do it."

She reached for the bouquet, and Terry handed it to her but then suddenly remembered something and lowered his voice to ask, "Mrs. Frane, did you receive the rose Mr. Frane made for you? He's not very good at crafts. He spent three hours with Nora making it."
