Chapter 502 Danger

"Tomorrow."

Jackson said so, his voice deep, holding an unlit cigarette. He used to smoke only when in a bad mood, but the past two months of searching had him smoking more. Now, with Lillian before him, he resisted smoking due to his habit, which increased his frustration.

He crushed the cigarette, looked away, and repeated, "Tomorrow."

Jackson turned and went inside, leaving Harry exasperated. "Mr. Frane, you said that last night and the night before!"

Jackson's sudden trip abroad left the company scrambling. Harry thought of Terry, who was nearly in tears over the phone and felt helpless.

"Handle the surveillance," Jackson ordered calmly. Harry knew Jackson planned to sneak into Lillian's villa again, which had tight security.

"Got it. But Mr. Frane, you should reunite with Mrs. Frane soon. The longer you wait, the angrier she'll be when she finds out!" Harry advised, feeling like an unqualified relationship expert.

Jackson scowled, staying silent. He desired to reveal everything to Lillian and go away with her, especially now that she was pregnant. However, he was aware she wouldn't leave willingly, which could lead to disputes and perhaps her another attempt to flee. The man, usually resolute, wavered.

That night, Jackson sneaked into Lillian's room and left quietly. Back in his room, he restored the surveillance and alarm systems and lay down, holding two strands of her hair, slowly closing his eyes.

Unbeknownst to him, ten minutes later, six shadows approached Lillian's courtyard, destroying two cameras and triggering an alarm in Seren's room.

Seren grabbed a gun, peeked outside, and quickly drew the curtains. She woke Lillian, dressed her in thick clothes, and whispered, "There's danger. I'll hold them off. You escape from the back. Head towards the northern woods; someone will meet you."

Lillian, startled, accepted the gun from Seren and followed her into the darkness. Seren directed her to the back door and switched off the lights. "Be careful."

Lillian's heart pounded, but she knew staying would cause more trouble. Seren had rehearsed emergency escapes with her. She pulled her hat down, crouched, and felt her way to the hidden back door.

She heard the door break down, heavy objects falling, and then the sounds of fighting and silenced gunfire.
