Chapter 926
Lillian glanced at Jackson, "So, how do you want me to repay him? How about I cook you a meal myself?"
Jackson was injured, and Lillian figured she could sneak back to the Peace Mansion while Taylor was asleep and whip up a meal for Jackson to bring over.
First, to help him recover faster, and second, to thank him for bringing Taylor back safely.
Jackson's eyes flickered slightly. Lillian used to cook for him all the time.
She even learned to cook just for him. He didn't appreciate it back then, but over the past year, he had missed her cooking more than once, even her homemade coffee.
Thinking about it, he hadn't tasted her cooking for almost a year.
Lillian's offer was tempting, but...
Now that she was back, he wasn't worried about missing out on her cooking in the future.
Jackson leaned in a bit, "You want to cook for me and take care of me? Wait until I'm out of the hospital and can help you in the kitchen."
As he spoke, he took Lillian's hand, gently kneading it, and brought it to his lips for a kiss.
"But for now, I want you to..."
He leaned in and whispered something in her ear, his breath warm and teasing.
Lillian's ears turned slightly red, and she glared at Jackson.
What was he thinking? They were still in the hospital, and he was injured, yet he was thinking about that.
Repay with her body? Dream on, she wasn't going to indulge him.
Lillian promptly shoved Taylor into Jackson's arms, saying, "He caused the trouble; you deal with him."
She didn't believe Jackson would actually hit Taylor just because he wouldn't call him "Dad."
Taylor was momentarily stunned as he was placed in Jackson's arms.
He liked Lillian's soft and fragrant embrace, not Jackson's hard and cold one.
Taylor pouted unhappily and reached out towards Lillian.
Jackson looked at the little rascal, thinking this kid was really here to give him a hard time.
He carried Taylor over to the hospital bed, determined to teach him to say "Dad."
But Taylor seemed to be deliberately defying Jackson, making all sorts of sounds except anything close to "Dad."
Jackson was frustrated and shook his fist at Taylor, "It's 'Dad.' I'll give you one more chance. If you get it wrong again, I'll really spank you."
Jackson lifted Taylor and placed him on his lap, seriously repeating, "Dad, Dad!"
He enunciated each syllable carefully, determined to make Taylor understand his mouth movements and pronunciation.
Taylor's big eyes blinked as he stared at Jackson, seemingly trying to learn.
Jackson felt hopeful this time, eagerly watching Taylor.
Even Lillian thought Taylor seemed to be listening and learning seriously, so she stopped scrolling through her phone and walked over to watch Taylor.
Taylor blinked, then suddenly lifted his little bottom.
The next second, two loud farting sounds echoed.
It turned out Taylor's sudden seriousness and effort were not about learning to speak but preparing to release two big farts.
Jackson's expression darkened instantly, while Lillian couldn't help but burst into laughter.
She laughed harder and harder, bending over and leaning on Jackson's shoulder.
Jackson was initially annoyed, but seeing Taylor's innocent face and Lillian laughing so hard she had tears in her eyes, he couldn't help but smile too.
"He bullies me, and you laugh!"
Jackson turned to Lillian, complaining with a hint of grievance.
Lillian felt a bit sorry for him and was about to tell Jackson not to take it out on Taylor when a familiar, pleasant female voice sounded from the doorway.
"Honestly, it's normal for Taylor not to call you 'Dad.' You were absent during Lillian's pregnancy, and Taylor holds a grudge."
Lillian's eyes lit up at the sound. She looked over in surprise and delight.
"Shirley!"
Standing at the doorway was a woman with her long hair casually tied in a low ponytail, wearing simple sportswear. The hood of her hoodie was pulled up, and large sunglasses were pushed down to her nose, revealing her bright, smiling eyes and lively eyebrows.
The mischievous look on her face was unmistakable. It was Shirley!
Lillian ran over, excited and surprised, "Weren't you filming on a closed set? Why didn't you tell me you were coming? Come in quickly, before anyone sees you."
Lillian hurriedly pulled Shirley into the room, glancing around before closing the door.
Last month, the show Shirley starred in became a hit, starting slow but gaining momentum. By the time it was halfway through, it was a sensation.
Although Shirley didn't play the lead role, her character was memorable and widely discussed. Her action scenes were particularly smooth.
With her sweet face and cool demeanor, the contrast was striking yet seamless, making her a fan favorite as the show aired.
Her Twitter followers were growing rapidly, and she was no longer a minor celebrity.
In the past few days, as the show neared its end, Lillian had overheard nurses and patients discussing Shirley's character's fate.
"It's not that dramatic."
Shirley laughed at Lillian's exaggerated actions.
Lillian closed the door and turned to Shirley, playfully rubbing her face.
"Not dramatic? You need to realize you're a star now. Repeat after me: I am a big star!"
Shirley chuckled and nodded, "Alright, alright, I am a big star."
She was eager to see Taylor and started to walk towards him.
Lillian followed, reminding her, "Don't take it lightly. Next time, bring an assistant and a bodyguard. Don't run around alone!"
Shirley had already reached Taylor, "Okay, okay, I got it."
She agreed, but her eyes were fixed on Taylor.
She bent down carefully to look at Taylor sitting on Jackson's lap.
It was Shirley's first time seeing Taylor, and her eyes instantly welled up with tears.
Taylor's beautiful features were even more adorable than she had imagined, making her breath catch.
Taylor, not shy at all, stared back at Shirley with curious, wide eyes.
"Taylor, I'm Shirley. Do you remember me?"
When Lillian was pregnant with Taylor, she had spent some time living with Shirley. Back then, Shirley would talk to Taylor every day and often feel the baby's movements.
Shirley could still remember the magical feeling of those kicks. She never imagined that the little one who kicked her through Lillian's belly would turn into such a soft and adorable child.
Shirley was smitten and reached out to Taylor, saying, "Let me hold you."
Taylor, surprisingly cooperative, stared at Shirley for a moment before reaching out and smiling at her.
Taylor flailed his arms and legs, making sounds that were somewhat similar to calling her "Auntie."
Whether he was just babbling or actually trying to say "Auntie," Shirley was thrilled. She scooped Taylor up from Jackson's lap and exclaimed to Lillian, "Taylor just called me Auntie! Did you hear that?"
Lillian nodded, looking at Taylor in amazement.
Jackson's handsome face darkened slightly, his gaze at Taylor filled with a hint of resentment.
Shirley, not one to let things go easily, turned to Jackson with a smug look, "Mr. Frane, you're not doing too well as a father. You need to reflect on this."
Jackson was already frustrated with the little rascal, and now, in front of others, Taylor wasn't giving him any face.
And this was his biological son, leaving him with no options.
Jackson stood up, giving Lillian and Shirley space, saying, "You two chat. I need to make a couple of calls."
He grabbed his phone and walked out, glancing at Taylor as he passed Shirley.
Taylor seemed to sense that Jackson had marked him down, and he nestled into Shirley's arms.
Shirley felt her heart melt and said to Lillian, "Our Taylor is too good at this. With his charm and looks, what will happen when he grows up?"
She sat down on the sofa with Taylor, coaxing him to call her "Godmother."
"Taylor, calling me Auntie is too easy. Try calling me Godmother!"
Lillian poured water for Shirley and laughed, thinking Taylor better not actually call her Godmother. He hadn't even called Jackson "Dad" yet. If he did, even Lillian wouldn't be able to protect him from a spanking.
Fortunately, Lillian's worry was unnecessary.
Despite Shirley's efforts, Taylor didn't call her Godmother. Instead, he wriggled around in Shirley's arms, making her want to pack him up and take him home.
When Lillian sat down next to Shirley, Taylor leaned towards her, wanting to be held.
"Mommy!"
The clear, crisp call was unmistakable.
It was completely different from his previous babbling. Lillian took Taylor into her arms.
Shirley clicked her tongue, "Taylor may be a boy, but he's definitely Mommy's little darling. Not bad, not bad. I'll give Taylor a gift as a reward."
Shirley took out the gifts she had prepared for Taylor from her bag: a pair of small gold bracelets and a necklace.
She had prepared these gifts for Taylor long ago, but after everything that happened, she had kept them, unable to part with them.
Shirley thought she'd never get the chance to give them, but fate had other plans.
She considered getting new gifts but decided the original ones held better meaning.
They were prepared with hope and blessings before Taylor was born.
Before coming, she even took the items to a church and had a priest bless them.
She put the necklace on Taylor, "Do you like it, Taylor?"
The necklace had a small bell that made a pleasant sound.
Taylor was clearly attracted to the sound, grabbing the necklace and shaking his little hand, showing his toothless gums in a smile.
Shirley kissed Taylor's cheek, "So soft, so cute, it makes me want to have a baby myself!"
Shirley couldn't help but sigh, her eyes showing a hint of envy.
When she arrived, she saw Jackson holding Taylor while Lillian laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes.
Honestly, for a moment, Shirley felt a pang of envy and jealousy.
She didn't want to break that warm and happy scene, even taking a photo before speaking up.
Jackson, usually so perceptive, hadn't noticed her at the door.
He was clearly immersed in the joy of being with his wife and child.
While happy for Lillian, Shirley couldn't help but feel envious. Now, seeing Taylor so cute and lively, she felt Lillian was tempting her to fall in love and have a baby.
At that moment, two tall figures entered the room.
"Lillian is gentle and serene, with good genes, which is why her baby is so adorable. You, on the other hand, might end up with a tomboy."
A slightly mocking voice sounded, the words not very pleasant, but the tone somewhat teasing.
Even so, Shirley's smile instantly disappeared.
She frowned slightly, glancing at the door.
The two figures entering were Jackson and Gray.
Gray was also dressed in casual sportswear, wearing a baseball cap, and his outfit's color was similar to Shirley's.
Anyone who didn't know better might think they had coordinated their outfits like a couple.
After breaking up with Gray, Shirley had completely blocked him on all social media.
But the entertainment industry isn't that big, and they had run into each other twice recently.
Each time, Gray would make snide remarks, while Shirley remained calm and indifferent, treating him like a stranger.
This always left Gray feeling frustrated.
Now, hearing Gray's words, Shirley acted as if she hadn't heard him, glancing at him before turning to Lillian.
"I only got a day off from the director. I have to return to the set soon. I'll be back for Taylor's christening party after filming."
Her words were clearly a farewell.
Lillian hadn't said anything yet, but Gray's expression turned cold.
He had just arrived, and she was already leaving. The message was clear.
Lillian hadn't seen Shirley in a while, and Shirley had been busy playing with Taylor. They hadn't had a chance to talk much.
Seeing this, Lillian glared at Jackson.
She suspected Jackson had called Gray to come over.
