Chapter 310 New Discovery
Lillian looked at Shirley, who waved her hand in front of her nose.
"Go ahead and answer it," Shirley said.
Lillian picked up the call.
"Why aren't you back yet?" Jackson asked with a bit of impatience. His voice was low and slightly hoarse, with a grainy texture that brushed against Lillian's ear through the phone.
"I'm at the coffee shop talking to Shirley. I'll be back soon. Why don't you take a nap?" Lillian felt a bit embarrassed and glanced at Shirley across from her.
Shirley deliberately raised her voice and said, "We just talked a few words before you asked. Fine, I'm leaving. However, Mr. Frane, if you don't treat Lillian well this time, I'll protest outside the Star Group building!"
Shirley waved at Lillian and got up to leave.
Lillian also left the coffee shop and said to the phone, "Shirley is always so dramatic. Don't be mad. I'm already on my way back."
Jackson responded, "It's good that Shirley protects you like this. If not for that, I wouldn't easily let go of anyone else who helped you escape from Miracalia."
Hearing the anger and dissatisfaction in his voice about her escape, Lillian snorted, "Good thing you didn't actually do anything to Shirley, or I wouldn't forgive you so easily!"
Lillian hung up the phone and walked towards the hospital.
Unexpectedly, she saw Wendy and Rose at the hospital entrance again.
Wendy was clearly surrounded by Mary and two others, pulling at her and bothering her.
Lillian didn't know what Mary said, but Wendy's expression was off. She turned and reached out to Rose.
Rose took out a bank card, and Wendy handed it to Mary. Only then did Mary and the others leave.
Lillian pondered, 'When Mary has let it slip last time, I found out that Wendy has been giving Mary money all along. However, as Wendy is in a precarious situation herself, she is still giving money to Mary. Given Wendy's selfish nature, it seems strange.'
Lillian thought for a moment and walked over. Wendy indeed saw her and came over angrily, raising her hand to hit Lillian and shouting, "Lillian, you bitch!"
Lillian raised her hand and grabbed Wendy's wrist, sneering. "Are you mad because I exposed your lies?"
Wendy's chest heaved, and she gritted her teeth.
She yanked her hand back and took a deep breath before saying, "You must have seen Mary and the others just now, right? They're seriously injured and have no money for treatment. As her biological daughter, isn't it inappropriate for you to avoid them?"
Lillian sneered. "Isn't that what you're for? Ms. Sivan, with your kindness and generosity, why not take care of them more?"
Wendy retorted, "Lillian, don't you think you're being too cold-hearted? You're now the Jackson's wife and having his child, but you watch your family suffer without medical care. That won't look good for your reputation."
Wendy was beyond annoyed. Jackson had exposed her in public and withdrew the Frane Family's later investment in the Sivan Family. Now, she was being pestered by Mary and the others.
She thought, 'Those fickle persons! They were scared by Jackson and don't dare to ask Lillian for money. I don't want to give money, but Mary has something on me! Damn it!'
Lillian nodded. "My reputation is already bad, but you are so concerned about your reputation. Why not take care of them for life? I don't mind spreading the word for you."
"You!" Wendy clenched her fists in anger.
Lillian looked at her, thinking, 'It is obvious Wendy wasn't giving Mary and the others money out of affection. Is she being blackmailed?'
Lillian continued, "Don't feel wronged. Between the two of us, Mary clearly favors you more. Why is that?"
The was a hint of fleeting panicin Wendy's eyes, but she quickly covered it up and retorted, "Of course, it's because I respect her more and always treat her like a mother. But you were used to the luxurious life in the Sivan Family and looked down on her after returning!"
Lillian caught that moment of panic in Wendy's eyes.
Lillian's heart sank as she thought, 'Could there really be something more to this?'
