Chapter 35 Lillian is Pregnant

A faint red line slowly appeared on the pregnancy test stick.

It wasn't very clear, but it was definitely a weak positive.

Lillian was pregnant. Her legs gave out, and she sank back onto the toilet seat, staring blankly at the faint pink line.

Shirley grabbed the test stick, her hands shaking with anger. "Jackson is such a jerk, getting two women pregnant at the same time!"

She knelt down and hugged Lillian. "Lillian, what are you going to do? Do you want this baby?"

Lillian didn't know. After getting married, she had promised Jackson not to have kids, but deep down, she really wanted one. She needed a baby to prove her relationship with Jackson. She even thought having a baby might make Jackson accept her as his wife and eventually fall in love with her. Now she realized how silly and pathetic that idea was, and she was determined to let it go.

But now, the baby was here. Lillian was in turmoil. When her phone rang, she answered without looking.

"Light? It's Wendy. I'm calling about the song. I believe Williams, the manager of the Frane Group, has explained everything clearly to you. Price is not an issue, and if you're not satisfied, we can offer more."

Lillian's phone had dual SIM cards, and Wendy had called her secondary number.

Lillian frowned, about to hang up, but Wendy kept talking. "I have the full support of the Frane Group and Star Group behind me. They will promote and endorse your song to the fullest. In a world where talent is abundant, relying solely on talent is not enough. Many have missed opportunities and been abandoned and blacklisted by capital due to arrogance. What do you think, Light?" Wendy was practically threatening to blacklist Lillian if she didn't cooperate, implying she'd never make it in the music industry again.

Lillian's expression turned icy.

Shirley was livid. She grabbed the phone and snapped back. "What? It's the first time I've heard someone talk about a sponsor so elegantly! Do you even know your own level? Can you even play Light's song with your trashy piano skills? Talking about the Frane Group for a song? You're just trying to take advantage with your mediocre talent. In my opinion, if talent is lacking, the harder you work, the more bitter it gets. Go to bed early and stop bothering us!" Then she abruptly hung up.

Shirley looked worriedly at Lillian. Just as Lillian discovered she was pregnant, Jackson’s lover came arrogantly, trying to steal her creative work. Shirley feared Lillian wouldn't be able to handle the stress.

But Lillian chuckled and stood up from the toilet seat, rubbing Shirley's face.

"Let's go. I don't feel like having instant noodles. Let's go out to a restaurant. I'll treat you well." Lillian linked arms with Shirley and walked out.

Seeing her indifferent attitude, Shirley breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. "Exactly, you have a special condition now. You need to eat more nutritious food, and maybe find a stepfather for your child."

The two of them left in a hurry. Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Wendy was trembling with anger. "Light was just a no-name composer, thinking she's some great musician? I contacted her for a song out of respect, but listen to what she just said!"

Rose tried to calm her down, but Wendy wasn't having any of it.

Wendy could never forget the first time she saw Lillian, with her hair in a bun, wearing a pink and white princess dress, standing barefoot on the sofa playing the violin. The music was melodious, and Lillian looked like a princess in a castle. But all of that should have belonged to her!

For so many years, Wendy had been playing the violin just to surpass Lillian. But her talent for the violin was average. Although her biological mother, Grace, was a dancer, it seemed that Lillian had inherited the talents for music and dance!

No matter how hard Wendy tried over the years, she always fell short. Grace's occasional looks of disappointment and sorrow ignited an intense jealousy and hatred in Wendy towards Lillian. This time, when she returned to the country for her career, her first solo concert had to be stunning. A classic violin piece would easily expose her technical shortcomings.

So, Wendy set her sights on Light. Last year, a young violinist won a highly prestigious international trophy with a piece by Light that had a touch of hip-hop flair. This refreshing song could perfectly cover her technical shortcomings and make a remarkable debut.
