Chapter 269 Lillian Ran Away with the Child

"Amelia, what's going on? Are you pregnant?" Otis snapped back to reality, frowning as he glared at Amelia.

If Amelia was pregnant and had hidden it to join the crew, it would delay the filming. It hadn't been easy for Amelia to land the role of the second female lead. She couldn't lose the role because of this. She immediately shook her head anxiously at Otis.

Shirley tugged at Amelia, stepping in to explain, "Otis, I know about this. Amelia had a miscarriage!"

Amelia quickly followed up, "Yes, I had a miscarriage for the sake of my career!"

Jackson, however, let out a cold laugh. "A miscarriage? When and at which hospital?"

His gaze was as sharp as a knife.

Amelia, on the verge of tears, braced herself to respond, "I don't even know you. These are my private matters. Why should I tell you?"

The producer beside them recognized Jackson at that moment. He stepped forward, pulled Amelia aside, and scolded, "Amelia! How can you speak to Mr. Frane like that? Whatever he asks, you answer honestly! Quickly!"

If the actors in the crew offended Jackson, they might as well disband the production right then and there.

The producer hurriedly grabbed a wine glass, nodding and apologizing to Jackson.

Otis quickly realized the situation and stood up in a flutter. In an instant, everyone in the private room stood up, their voices filled with flattery and apologies.

Jackson's face remained stern. He ignored them all, and his gaze was still fixed on Amelia. Everyone else also looked at Amelia. Amelia's pressure was mounting. She had seen Jackson before when she was covering for Lillian during a prenatal check-up. He had seemed familiar then. But she hadn't expected that she had offended such an important figure. She was on the verge of tears, her face pale, looking to Shirley for help.

At this point, Shirley couldn't let Amelia take the fall. She stepped forward, standing in front of Amelia, and said to Jackson, "Mr. Frane, let's talk outside. If you want to know anything, ask me. It has nothing to do with Amelia!"

Jackson knew Shirley's temperament. Pressuring Amelia was just a way to put pressure on Shirley. His gaze finally shifted coldly to Shirley as he said, "Ms. James, I hope you won't disappoint me. Otherwise, anyone will have to pay the price for daring to deceive me in Miracalia!"

Hearing this, Amelia's eyes welled up with tears. She tugged fearfully at Shirley's sleeve. Shirley's face was also pale. She forced a reassuring look at Amelia, nodded, and followed Jackson out. After they left, the private room remained silent.

Gray lagged behind, waving to the astonished Otis and others. "It's nothing, just a personal matter for Mr. Frane. Please go on." With that, he followed them out.

Shirley followed Jackson to another private room. His expression was as usual, but his aura had changed. He couldn't wait any longer and asked directly, "The one who went for the prenatal check-up last time was Lillian. Was she pregnant?"

It was a question, but his tone was affirmative. Shirley's face turned slightly pale as she replied, "You've already guessed it, so why ask me? But hiding it from you has nothing to do with Amelia. She didn't know Lillian was your wife. She was just helping us. Mr. Frane, please don't make things difficult for her. If you have any anger, vent them on me!"

Although Jackson had already guessed and was certain in his heart, his emotions were stirred up when hearing Shirley confirm it. His eyes were filled with a myriad of feelings.

'Unbelievably, Lillian was pregnant! She had our baby in her belly! I'm going to be a father!' These thoughts flashed through his mind.

Amidst the overwhelming joy, Jackson quickly remembered that Lillian had left. She had left with the child! She was pregnant but hadn't told him, going to great lengths to hide it from him, and now she wanted to escape while pregnant!
