Jackson asked, "Were you afraid I'd stop, so you hid from me until now? You're so smart!"
His eyes were clouded, like a forest without sunlight.
It turned out she had made a decision long ago.
When she had first mentioned divorce, there was no turning back.
He thought his disapproval and attempts to keep her were simply a joke.

Lillian finished blow-drying her hair and turned off the hairdryer. When she was about to put it on the low cabinet next to her, Jackson suddenly grabbed her wrist.
The hairdryer fell to the ground.
With a swift turn, Lillian found herself lifted by Jackson from behind the sofa, pressed against his body.
She was shocked with her chest heaved. "Jackson, what are you doing?"
Jackson's chest robe was wide open, and his chest still cold all over. Lillian felt like she was lying on an ice sculpture, and she trembled slightly.
Jackson held her waist, staring closely at the woman.
He asked, "When are you planning to leave?"
Lillian replied, "In a month."
She bit her lip lightly, looking at him with some concern.
She added, "You have promised me that you'll divorce me and let me go as long as I settle the debt with the Frane family. You can't go back on your word!"
Jackson sneered, then pinched Lillian's chin and turned her face left and right.
His movements were somewhat rough, making Lillian's stiff neck almost cramp.
Lillian shouted, "Let go! What are you doing?"
Jackson said, "I'm checking if you're thick-skinned or if you think you're incredibly beautiful!"
He let go and added, "Lillian, I won't try to keep a woman who is determined to leave me and doesn't like me!"
Lillian pursed her lips and twisted her waist, saying, "Then let go of me."
However, Jackson's large palm on her waist remained, his gaze fixed on her.
He asked, "Are you hiding something else from me?"
He felt something was off, including her assertiveness tonight. Was it really just because Wendy had ruined her interview?
Lillian felt uneasy. She was afraid of revealing the baby's situation if he kept pressing.
At that moment, Jackson's phone rang urgently, and Terry was calling.
Lillian quickly handed him the phone. "You should answer that call."
Jackson released Lillian, and she hurriedly sat up. Jackson answered the call, and Terry's report came through.
Terry said, "Mr. Frane, I've brought Ms. Sivan back, but she's been causing a scene. Maybe you should come and see for yourself."
Wendy's crying could be heard in the background, so Jackson let go of Lillian.
It was the first time that Lillian truly felt grateful to Wendy for helping her out of this situation.
After leaving the hotel, Lillian tried to contact Shirley, but her calls went unanswered.
When Lillian returned to their rented house, Shirley was still nowhere to be found. Just as Lillian started to worry, she received a call from the police station.
After hurrying to the station, Lillian finally saw Shirley, who was being held there.
