Chapter 818
Logan's delicate skin was covered in bruises.
A child's skin is tender, making the marks even more shocking.
These bruises were hidden in places like his chest and underarms, areas that are hard to notice. The weather hadn't warmed up completely yet, and Logan was wearing thick clothes.
With his clothes covering them, it was impossible to see the bruises.
But for someone like Star, who was Logan's family, it was impossible not to notice the injuries if she paid any attention to him.
Lillian's hands trembled with anger, especially when she looked into Logan's innocent eyes, which seemed unaware of everything. Her heart twisted in pain.
How could anyone be so cruel to such a small child who couldn't express or defend himself?
Lillian, burning with rage, instinctively touched the bruise on Logan's chest.
Logan, perhaps remembering the pain, immediately started crying.
Lillian quickly withdrew her hand, adjusted Logan's clothes, and was about to pick him up to comfort him when a sharp, angry voice came from the doorway.
"What are you doing?! Lillian, let go of Logan!"
Lillian turned her head and saw Star.
Behind Star was the nanny, Celine, and two men in police uniforms.
Before Lillian could react, Star rushed into the hospital room.
She pushed Lillian aside, grabbed Logan from the bed, and shouted.
"Lillian, what are you doing to Logan? Logan, don't cry, don't cry, I'm here."
Star patted Logan, glaring at Lillian with suspicion.
Lillian, pushed aside, stumbled and hit her elbow on the bed frame, causing a sharp pain.
Celine pointed at Lillian and said, "This is the woman who took Logan. Look at her, she must have hurt Logan. He's crying so loudly. You need to take her in for questioning."
Celine saw Logan's clothes were undone and her face changed instantly.
She angrily pointed at Lillian and then turned to Star.
"Ms. Price, let me take care of Logan. You have an injury on your head."
Star's forehead was wrapped in bandages, and she didn't look well.
Hearing this, Star handed Logan to Celine.
Logan, clearly frightened by the commotion, struggled in Celine's arms, looking around as if searching for Lillian.
The two police officers approached Lillian. They had received a report that a nanny was with a child on the street, and the child was taken away by someone in a car.
The report came from the Price family, who were well-known in Miracalia.
When they heard the Price family's heir was taken in broad daylight, the police took it seriously, fearing it might be a kidnapping case, and immediately responded.
On the way, they had already questioned the nanny and Star about the situation and learned that the woman who took Logan had a grudge against Star.
Initially, they thought it might be a malicious kidnapping case, but when they followed the clues, they found Logan safe in the hospital.
This scene didn't look like a kidnapping.
But they did see Logan kicking and crying loudly.
The two police officers fixed their sharp gaze on Lillian and questioned her.
"Ma'am, the child's guardian reported that you kidnapped him and intended to harm him. We need you to cooperate with our investigation. Please provide your name and driver's license."
"Why did you take the child? What's your relationship with him? What were you doing to him just now?"
Lillian, under the scrutiny of the two police officers, looked at Star.
Star slightly curled her lips, then feigned panic.
"Logan is just a child. He hasn't done anything wrong. Lillian, if you hate me, come at me, okay? Don't hurt Logan."
Star's voice trembled, making it seem like Lillian had indeed kidnapped Logan.
Lillian noticed that after Star spoke, the police officers' gaze became even more suspicious.
Lillian found it amusing and said to the police officers.
"Officers, if I had really kidnapped and harmed the child, I wouldn't have brought him to the hospital. I was just trying to comfort him. As for my driver's license, I don't have it with me."
But the police officers, hearing Lillian's explanation, remained firm.
"Then please come with us to the station to make a statement and assist in the investigation."
As they moved to take Lillian, Logan, either frightened or uncomfortable in Celine's arms, started crying loudly.
Logan's cries attracted a crowd at the door, curious and watching the commotion.
Seeing the police surrounding Lillian, they stared at her with strange and inquisitive looks.
Lillian frowned and tried to explain again.
"Officers, the child is sick, and the nanny wasn't taking good care of him. When I found him, he was already unconscious, so I brought him to the hospital. The doctors can vouch for me. I did not kidnap or harm the child."
Despite Lillian's clear explanation, the police officers insisted.
"Ma'am, please come with us to the station. We will investigate the truth. If you haven't harmed the child, you will be released soon. Please cooperate."
"What's this woman done to get the police involved?"
"Who knows? She must have done something terrible. She's a real femme fatale."
"Looks like she abused the baby. Look how heartbroken the child is."
The crowd outside the door pointed at Lillian and gossiped.
Star turned to hold Logan, a smile playing on her lips.
She knew this wouldn't get Lillian detained, but making her take a trip to the police station was satisfying enough.
Lillian meddling in the Price family's affairs, thinking she was someone important.
If it weren't for Jackson backing her, Star would have had someone deal with Lillian long ago.
Just as Star was feeling pleased, a deep, authoritative voice came from the doorway.
"Why do you need my girlfriend to cooperate? I drove the child here with her. Do you need me to come with you for a thorough investigation too?"
