Chapter 757
Lillian's figure had disappeared at the door for a long time before Jackson finally realized what had happened.
Lillian's words were essentially agreeing to give him a chance.
Jackson's thin lips instantly curved into an uncontrollable smile. He lowered his eyes, but the excitement in his expression was still evident.
"Jackson, you look lovestruck so early in the morning. It seems like there's been a breakthrough in your pursuit of Lillian," came a teasing voice from the doorway of the hospital room.
Jackson looked up to see Mike leaning casually against the door frame.
Mike was dressed in a casual white suit, as dashing as ever, playing with a pair of sunglasses in his hand.
Gray, who was a step behind Mike, didn't look as good.
Dressed in dark black sportswear with a hood, he exuded a cold aura that even a gray mask couldn't conceal. It seemed like his hands in his pockets could pull out a knife at any moment.
Both men were tall, and when they crowded the doorway, Terry, who was carrying a food box, couldn't get in.
"If you're not coming in, move aside. What are you doing blocking the doorway?" Gray bumped into Mike and squeezed into the room first.
But Mike hooked his arm around Gray's neck, and the two of them approached the hospital bed together.
"Jackson, look at Gray. His face looks terrible from the hormonal imbalance caused by a breakup. Walking with him, I'm afraid the security might think we're here to cause trouble and kick us out."
Gray's face turned colder, and he shook off Mike's arm, sitting down on the sofa before saying coldly.
"Jackson needs rest because he's sick. Are you here to visit or to disturb him?"
Mike clicked his tongue, "Gray got dumped and doesn't want anyone to talk about it. Hiding it won't save face. Look at Jackson, who is openly and honestly pursuing his wife; that's a real man, and that's why he's making progress. Jackson, tell us, when are we attending your wedding with Lia?"
Gray scoffed. He didn't believe it.
He had only made a small mistake, and Shirley had completely blocked him, avoiding him everywhere, not even meeting him.
Jackson had made such a mess, and he could still successfully pursue his wife?
Mike must be joking.
Moreover, even if there was some progress, would Jackson share it with Mike?
However, the next second, Gray was surprised.
Jackson's cold expression relaxed, and he even patted Mike's shoulder. "There is progress. Although the wedding is still a bit far off, Lillian has agreed to let me pursue her."
Mike wasn't surprised at all because he had come prepared today.
He had accidentally let it slip when he sent Lillian off earlier, and he was worried that Jackson and Lillian might have another falling out, so he had someone keep an eye on Jackson's movements for the past two days.
Last night, Jackson and Lillian had stayed at the cemetery all night, and Mike received the news this morning.
Although he didn't know exactly what happened, given the bad weather and the fact that they were alone in the mountains, something must have happened. He didn't believe there wouldn't be any progress.
Therefore, Mike had arranged to visit with Gray early in the morning.
If there was good progress, he would take credit.
If there wasn't, he would apologize and have Grey to ease the tension.
But seeing Jackson's extremely happy smile at the doorway, Mike knew he had made the right decision.
Mike's eyes narrowed with a smile, "Congratulations, Jackson. I must have had a part in this, right?"
Gray couldn't stand Mike's smug look and immediately interjected.
"Even if Jackson made progress in pursuing his wife, what does it have to do with you? Besides, Jackson is still pursuing her, isn't he?"
Gray didn't think this was progress.
Jackson glanced at him, "You don't understand."
Gray felt that look was full of disdain. "What do you mean I don't understand? Ever since Jackson got divorced, hasn't he been pursuing her? He's still pursuing her now."
Mike looked at Gray with a complicated expression, wondering what was wrong with this actor.
When acting, Gray had a strong ability to empathize with his characters.
Logically, such a person should have high emotional intelligence.
But outside of his roles, Gray's emotional intelligence seemed to plummet.
"Of course, it's different. It's like driving with a license and without a license. Can they be the same?"
"I'm talking about chasing a woman, and you're talking about driving." Gray still didn't get it.
Mike sat down, exasperated.
"Let me put it this way. Before, pursuing a girl without her permission was just pestering. Now that she's agreed to let you pursue her, it means she's accepted your feelings. As long as you don't mess up, it's almost like being her boyfriend."
Gray raised an eyebrow, "So you're saying that Jackson's previous pursuit of Lia was just pestering?"
Mike was helpless. Was that the point?
The key was, could you just blurt out such blunt truths?
Feeling the cold aura emanating from the hospital bed, Mike gritted his teeth and gave Gray a big eye roll.
"I'm talking about you! Your current behavior towards Ms. James is just pestering."
Gray's face turned even darker, and he scoffed disdainfully. "Pestering her? What a joke. Which eye of yours saw me pestering her? She'll come crying back to me sooner or later."
The entertainment industry wasn't easy to navigate. Although Shirley had signed with the Kelly Group's entertainment company, she had offended HorizonHive Media, which would cause her endless trouble in the future.
Shirley's various conditions in the entertainment industry were mediocre, and she had a bad temper and acted impulsively. Without a strong backing, she would just offend people everywhere.
At The Kelly Media, Shirley thought she had latched onto the Kelly family's heiress, but the person in charge now was Lillian's stepmother, Ruby.
Lillian, who had suddenly returned as the heiress, might not even be able to protect herself, let alone Shirley.
He was waiting for that woman who didn't know her limits to come crying back to him when she had nowhere else to go.
Jackson glanced at the self-destructive Gray and didn't say much.
Some lessons can only be learned the hard way.
Jackson just looked at Mike and said, "You can pick any car from my garage."
Mike's eyes lit up instantly. Although he had come to seek a reward today, he hadn't expected such a big gift.
Although Jackson wasn't particularly into cars and usually drove the same few, the cars in his garage were all collectible and valuable.
Mike rubbed his hands, "Are you sure? After all, I just said a few words."
