Chapter 540 Can You Let Go Now?
The doctor took many photos of Taylor with different expressions: sticking out her tongue, eyes wide open, grinning, yawning.
When Lillian got the report, she was reluctant to let it go, but before she could hold it for long, Jackson leaned over and took it from her hands.
"What are you doing?" Lillian instinctively tried to grab it back, but Jackson quickly folded the report and said, "I'll keep it safe."
Lillian was unhappy and held out her hand. "If you want it, you can ask the doctor for another copy. This one is mine. Give it back."
She really liked it and wanted to keep it. She thought about showing it to Shirley later or even to Taylor in the future.
Jackson ignored her and had already put the report into his suit pocket.
Jackson raised an eyebrow and looked at Lillian. "You and Taylor are together all the time. What's the big deal if I take a report? If you want to see it, just call me anytime, and I can bring it to you."
Lillian was frustrated; she didn't need this kind of meeting arrangement.
Seeing her puffed-up face and displeasure, Jackson softened his tone, gently rubbed Lillian's head, and said, "I'm taking it back to show Grandma. She'll be very happy."
Lillian also wanted to make Lyra happy, so she nodded and agreed.
They parted ways in front of the elevator. She was going to see Max, and Jackson had business to handle at his company. Terry had already been waiting for a while.
However, just as Lillian was about to step into the elevator, Jackson suddenly grabbed her, causing her to spin around and stumble into his arms. He held her close.
Lillian raised her hand to push against Jackson's chest, but he seemed oblivious to her resistance. He leaned down, resting his head on her shoulder, and whispered hoarsely in her ear, "I promised not to bother you until I solve the issue with Star. You have to remember your promise to me too."
"Got it. Can you let go now?" Lillian responded.
She had only promised him not to get too close to other men.
She was heavily pregnant and not in the mood for new relationships, so these conditions didn't matter much to her.
Hearing her somewhat obedient response, Jackson felt a pang of reluctance.
Sending Star abroad would have to wait until after the funeral.
Such a long time without seeing her felt like an eternity.
"Will you miss me?" he asked, holding her with a hint of longing.
Lillian couldn't believe Jackson would ask such a question.
She didn't answer, but her silence was the best response.
Jackson's lips curved slightly, and he let her go, his eyes showing a faint joy. "I'll take that as a yes."
Lillian thought he had become quite good at comforting himself. She turned and walked into the elevator.
As the elevator doors slowly closed, blocking Jackson's figure outside, her face gradually turned cold.
Her feelings for Jackson were fragile, limited by time.
When a woman became more rational than emotional in a relationship, she didn't get hurt as easily.
She didn't believe Jackson could send Star away. She just didn't want to provoke him or have him constantly appear in front of her.
She worried that, like last time, she wouldn't be able to get the divorce certificate smoothly, but she hadn't expected Jackson to be so easily fooled.
He seemed to really think that after the divorce, they could start over and she would accept his pursuit.
Lillian frowned, feeling inexplicably irritated.
Max's hospital room was as clean and tidy as ever, with fresh flowers on the bedside table.
