Chapter 890
Jackson pressed down without a care, his scorching kisses trailing from her neck downward.
Lillian panicked instantly, her voice trembling slightly.
"Stop it! We can't do this here, not now!"
Lillian was in a state of alarm, knowing Oberon and Flora were just next door.
The Kelly Manor didn't have any special soundproofing, and sometimes Lillian could be woken up in the middle of the night by Oberon and Flora's coughing.
Oberon had asked Ambrose to bring someone in to add another layer of soundproofing or to move Lillian's room upstairs.
But Lillian refused, not wanting the soundproofing redone.
Hearing Oberon and Flora's movements at night gave her a sense of security.
But at the same time, any noise from her side would definitely be noticed by Oberon and Flora.
"Not now? Then when? You think it's fun to keep teasing me like this?"
Jackson was clearly angry, grabbing Lillian's hand and pressing it against himself.
Lillian's face flushed instantly from the sensation in her palm.
She curled her fingers, shaking her head in apology.
"I didn't mean to tease you, I..."
"Didn't mean to? If you didn't mean to, would I be like this? What good does it do you to wear me out?"
Jackson wouldn't let her retreat, nor would he let her pull her hand back.
He gripped her wrist firmly, forcing her to feel.
Lillian had no choice but to endure Jackson's increasingly dangerous aura.
Her blush spread from her cheeks to her entire body, and she turned her head, not daring to meet his eyes filled with desire and temptation.
It was as if she feared that one more look would have her soul ensnared by some male demon, leading her to do something utterly ridiculous.
"Stop it! Get off!"
Her words grew more resolute, as if that could fend off the reactions her body was having to his teasing.
Jackson's large hand cupped her face again, turning her to face him.
"Rejecting me so coldly, what? Are you planning to dump me and find another man?"
Lillian was speechless.
She knew it was because of what she had said earlier.
She quickly explained, looking pitiful, "No! That wasn't what I meant. I already told you, you were the one who scared me first! You and Grandpa were talking just fine, and Grandpa was already starting to compromise, but you still scared me, so I..."
Before she could finish, Jackson's lips covered hers, biting down hard.
She winced in pain, her eyes growing misty with tears.
Jackson released her, squinting, "You can't say things like breaking up! Do I need to teach you what you can and can't say, even as a joke?!"
As he spoke, his hand moved to her waist, gripping her soft curves tightly and pulling her closer.
Lillian's eyes reddened, feeling guilty and regretful.
She truly regretted it. If she had known he would be this angry and hard to appease, she wouldn't have said those words even if it killed her.
She looked at him, her eyes full of pity.
"I was wrong, I really was. I won't say it again, okay?"
Jackson scoffed, "Too late! The damage to my heart is done. I don't accept verbal apologies."
With that, Jackson lowered his head, and Lillian's loose loungewear was pushed up to her waist.
The atmosphere grew increasingly heated and intimate.
Just then, a faint cough came from the next room, making Lillian curl her toes in fear.
She felt certain Oberon knew something or had heard the noise.
She was on the verge of tears, desperately clinging to Jackson's neck, lifting her body, and whispering tearfully in his ear.
"Jackson, please let me go. I'll sneak out to see you tonight, okay?"
Jackson's breath hitched, finally lifting his busy head from Lillian's body, his deep, dangerous eyes fixed on her.
"You'll really come out to see me?"
Lillian nodded quickly, terrified that Oberon might come over any second.
She felt a sense of impending doom, like she was about to be caught in the act.
"You know where I'm staying, right?"
Lillian, in her panic, nodded without fully understanding his question.
Of course, she knew. She had helped him book the hotel, choosing the nearest five-star hotel to the Kelly Manor.
Jackson's voice was hoarse. "And then?"
"What do you mean, 'and then'?" Lillian was confused, not following Jackson's train of thought.
Jackson chuckled lightly, "Are you playing dumb with me?"
Seeing his meaningful expression and feeling the unrelenting pressure of his body, Lillian blushed and pushed him away.
"Then you should be asking yourself."
Jackson's thin lips curved into a smile, "Then it means whatever I say goes. You'll listen to me."
Lillian was almost driven mad by him. She just wanted him to leave without disturbing Oberon any further.
"Yes, yes, just go."
Lillian nodded, not realizing the gravity of what she had agreed to.
Jackson's eyes sparkled with amusement, his lips curling into a meaningful smile.
Though his body hadn't been satisfied, his mood was excellent.
He hadn't intended to do anything to her in the Kelly Manor, especially since he wasn't yet accepted by the Kelly family.
He knew his limits.
He was just angry about her casually mentioning breaking up and wanted to scare her. He hadn't expected to get such a promise.
Suppressing the smile tugging at his lips, Jackson put on a reluctant expression.
"Kiss me, and I'll agree."
Seeing him push his luck, Lillian had no choice. She lifted her head and pressed a light kiss on Jackson's lips.
As she was about to pull away, Jackson held her head in place, sighing against her lips.
"You're not a little girl anymore. Kissing so innocently, how can you satisfy a hungry man?"
Lillian's face heated up at his teasing gaze, feeling speechless.
The next second, Jackson's voice turned husky.
"Close your eyes, open your mouth."
When Jackson finally got off the bed, Lillian's lips were slightly swollen, her eyes red, and her face flushed.
Even though nothing had happened, it felt as if they had.
Lillian glared at Jackson, quickly running to the door and opening it.
"I'll take you to the guest room to freshen up and see you out."
Seeing her act like she was sending off a plague, Jackson found it amusing and smiled.
He didn't tease her further, leaving her room promptly, already looking forward to the night's feast.
Lillian escorted Jackson to the guest room, letting him clean up and change clothes before leaving.
She went to Ambrose's room and knocked on the door.
Ambrose opened the door quickly, and Lillian smiled.
"Ambrose, do you have any clothes that might fit Jackson? Can I borrow a set?"
Ambrose wasn't surprised by her request, smiling and nodding.
"Come in, I prepared them for you earlier."
Lillian followed Ambrose inside, her eyes following his gaze to a stack of clothes neatly folded on the nearby sofa.
From undergarments to outerwear, everything was there.
"They're all new, never worn," Ambrose said.
When Jackson had been brought in earlier, Ambrose was there too, clearly anticipating that Lillian would come to borrow clothes.
Lillian appreciated his thoughtfulness and said, "Even if they were worn, it wouldn't matter. He doesn't get to be picky."
She walked over, bent down, and picked up the stack of clothes.
As she turned to leave, Ambrose said, "Sit for a bit. He probably won't be done washing up anytime soon."
He had already poured a glass of water for Lillian. She didn't think much of it, placing the clothes on the sofa and sitting down.
Ambrose handed her the glass, and Lillian realized she was quite thirsty. The earlier tussle with Jackson had left her feeling oddly dehydrated.
She took several large gulps, and as she paused to catch her breath, she noticed Ambrose's knowing look, making her blush again.
"Even at home, he doesn't know how to restrain himself," Ambrose said with mild disapproval.
Lillian's cheeks flushed once more, and she stammered, "It's not like that, we didn't do anything..."
Halfway through her explanation, she realized it was only making things worse, so she stopped and pleaded, "Ambrose, please."
Seeing her embarrassment, Ambrose changed the subject. "The police called earlier."
Lillian quickly asked, "What did they say?"
"Ruby isn't admitting to anything, but it doesn't matter. She won't get away this time."
Ruby had repeatedly tried to harm Lillian, and the Kelly family had gathered solid evidence and witnesses over the past few months.
Moreover, the old butler who had helped Anouk falsify the paternity test had confessed. It was indeed Ruby who had coerced him into doing it.
This meant Ruby had known eight years ago that Anouk wasn't a Kelly and had been actively covering up the truth.
Although they hadn't yet found evidence that Ruby had swapped the babies, all signs pointed to the fact that it wasn't Bob who had done it.
It was highly likely that Ruby was responsible, and it was only a matter of time before the truth came to light.
Now that Ruby was in custody, those who had helped her would be more likely to come forward, making the investigation easier.
The only uncertainty was whether Kenneth had been involved.
Thinking of Kenneth, Ambrose's gaze softened as he looked at Lillian. "Kenneth might have been deceived by Ruby..."
Lillian shook her head with a smile, interrupting him. "You don't need to comfort me. Kenneth may be my biological father, but that's all he is. I've never had any expectations of him, so there's nothing to be disappointed about."
Lillian wasn't at an age where she needed a father's love. Over the years, from the Sivan family to the Young family, she had faced too many disappointments.
She had long since stopped expecting anything from her relatives. Reuniting with Oberon and Flora was already more than enough for her.
As for Kenneth, she was indifferent.
It was clear that Kenneth wasn't worth her emotional investment.
If anything, she felt anger and disgust on behalf of the late Ophelia.
Seeing that she genuinely didn't care, Ambrose felt relieved. His expression relaxed.
But knowing that Kenneth was her biological father, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Lillian, who had endured so much.
He reached out to ruffle her hair, about to speak, when a lazy voice came from the door.
"Lillian, why are you bothering Ambrose again?"
Lillian turned to see Jackson, already done with his shower.
His hair was still damp, and he was wearing a white bathrobe.
The robe was neatly tied, covering him modestly, but his striking features and usual stern demeanor made him look somewhat seductive and roguish.
Lillian quickly stood up, grabbed the clothes, and said to Ambrose, "Ambrose, I'll take him to change."
Before she could finish, Jackson walked in.
He took the clothes from Lillian with one hand, his other arm naturally wrapping around her shoulders. He smiled at Ambrose.
"Thanks for the clothes, Ambrose."
"Mr. Frane, you should wait until you actually marry Lillian before calling me that."
Though Jackson's tone was sincere, Ambrose couldn't help but feel a mix of awkwardness and mockery.
"Why did you come over? Go change your clothes," Lillian urged, sensing the tension between the two.
She tried to pull Jackson away, but he didn't budge. Instead, he reached up to smooth Lillian's hair.
"Your hair's a mess."
Lillian was speechless.
Of course, it was because Ambrose had ruffled it earlier.
But that was just a brotherly gesture of comfort.
This petty man!
Lillian glared at Jackson, signaling him to stop.
Jackson smiled and withdrew his hand, but he said, "No rush. Ambrose cares so much about us and has been so considerate. I should show some concern for him, too. Especially since we're so happy together, don't you worry about him being all alone?"
With Jackson bringing it up, Lillian couldn't just drag him away.
Besides, she was genuinely concerned about Ambrose's personal life.
She had been curious for a while.
"Ambrose, what happened with that pretty woman you had dinner with? Why didn't you follow up? Invite her over for dinner. Grandpa and Grandma haven't been in the best mood lately, and it might cheer them up."
Ambrose felt a headache coming on, especially with Jackson there.
Now he had to deal with both Oberon and Lillian pushing him to get married. It was too much."I told you before, she and I aren't like that..."
"Why not give it a chance?" Jackson interrupted.
He felt that with a strong rival like Ambrose, he couldn't afford to let his guard down.
Until Ambrose found a girlfriend, Jackson couldn't fully relax.
Seeing how easily Ambrose and Lillian interacted, Jackson couldn't help but want to find a woman to pair Ambrose off with immediately.
