Chapter 648

At the Price Mansion...

Star was carried into the house by two servants, with two clear slap marks on her face and her other injuries unknown.

They laid her down on the living room sofa, and immediately she felt a sharp pain shoot through her back and abdomen.

"Ouch! Watch it, you idiots! You’re pressing on my wound!" Star, still reeling from the pain, screamed and shoved the servants away.

The servants, clearly panicking, quickly said, "Is your back really hurt? Quick, let Miss Price lie on her stomach."

As they spoke, they and two other servants lifted Star again and turned her over.

Star screamed again, her face twisted in pain and covered in cold sweat.

The servants, flustered, tried to help her up again, and Star almost cried out, "Get away! Don't touch me again!"

As the maids stood there helplessly, Dominic, who had already gone to bed, was woken up by the noise and came downstairs.

"What's going on here?" he asked.

Star replied, "Dad... I got beaten up. You have to help me find the culprit. We can't let her get away with this! I want her to kneel before me and pay a hundredfold!"

"Go get the private doctor now!" Dominic shouted at the servants, who hurriedly went to make the call.

Dominic then looked at Star, frowned, and said, "Alright, stop howling. What exactly happened?"

Star, clutching her abdomen and groaning in pain, tears streaming down her face, took a long time to explain everything to Dominic.

Tonight, she had heard that Lillian had been taken away from the Frane Mansion, and feeling happy, she decided to go to the club for some pampering.

She wasn't exactly young anymore, and she had suffered a lot in the past. Her skin looked fine at first glance, but compared to those real heiresses, she was still lacking. Not to mention, Lillian had such good skin.

Star wanted to take good care of herself, believing that one day Jackson would notice her beauty.

Who knew that just as she was being massaged by the beautician and was about to fall asleep, several women burst in from outside.

The leader was a 220-pound wealthy woman who rushed in, calling her a homewrecker, grabbed her hair, and dragged her off the beauty bed.

She was pulled out of the beauty room, unable to resist, and was beaten and kicked.

By the time the club's security and Star's driver arrived to rescue her, the 220-pound woman and her group had quickly gotten into a car and fled!

Star said, "The driver took me to Frane Hospital, but the hospital said they had just received a dozen food poisoning patients in the emergency room and were too busy to let us in!"

Star got even angrier at this point, clenching her fists. "Those doctors and nurses must have known that Jackson had kicked us out of the hospital, so they were deliberately making things difficult for us! Jackson was just upset because he lost his son; he couldn't possibly hold a grudge forever! Jackson must not know what the nurses did tonight. Otherwise, even if he was angry, he wouldn't let them humiliate me like this!"

In a few days, when Jackson calmed down and she won him over, becoming Jackson's wife, she would make sure those who had kicked her when she was down would pay! She would have them all fired from the hospital!

"It hurts!" Star thought about it and slammed the sofa, but it pulled at her injuries, causing her to scream in pain, her face contorted.

Dominic's expression darkened. "Idiot! Didn't you think about why someone would beat you up out of nowhere?"

"How would I know? I've never even seen that fat woman. She's so huge, what kind of husband could she have? Am I crazy to seduce her husband? I..." Star cried, but when she saw Dominic's mocking eyes, she suddenly realized. "Dad, are you saying that Jackson ordered someone to beat me up tonight? To avenge that bitch Lillian?"

Thinking of this, Star felt a chill run down her spine.

She shook her head, unwilling to believe it. "No way, Jackson couldn't be so cruel to me."

However, Star realized that the worst injuries were on her waist and abdomen.

And that day, it was in this very spot. When she was beating and kicking Lillian, thinking that Lillian had just had a difficult childbirth, she specifically targeted Lillian's waist and back.

It was exactly the same as how the 220-pound woman had beaten her tonight.

That day, Jackson had come in from outside and most likely saw her attacking Lillian.

Suddenly, Star felt her injuries hurt even more.

"Sir, the police are here," the servant said.

Star had called the police when she was beaten at the beauty club.

She immediately looked up expectantly. "The culprit must have been caught!"

She thought, 'It couldn't have been Jackson! Maybe someone else did it, or perhaps that fat woman just got the wrong person.'

When the police were invited in, they told Star that the club's surveillance cameras were broken, and it would take time to find the perpetrator.

And the 220-pound woman had used a guest's card to enter the club, not her own. The guest claimed that the beauty card had been lost two days ago.

In short, the person who beat Star had disappeared without a trace, and they couldn't find her for now. Although the police claimed they would continue the investigation, Star could tell that it was just an excuse.

The police had so many cases to handle every day, and if they didn't find the person tonight, the chances of finding her later were even smaller.

After the police left, Star cried even harder, clutching Dominic's sleeve. "Dad, you have to get the Price Family to find out. How could the club's surveillance cameras just happen to be broken? I..."

Dominic interrupted her, his voice deep. "No need to look. Even if you find out, it won't help."

Clearly, if Jackson was behind this, the person wouldn't be found. She might have already left Miracalia.

Star choked. "So I just got beaten up for nothing?"

It hurt even to breathe now, and she suspected her ribs were broken.

Dominic's face darkened. "For now, lay low."

Star clenched her fists, her eyes filled with resentment and humiliation.

All night, the Price Mansion was filled with Star's whimpering, crying, and tantrums.

At the Hospital...

Early the next morning, Shirley suddenly rushed out of the bathroom, holding her phone, her face full of excitement. "Lillian, karma really does come around! Look at this video, it'll definitely cheer you up!"

Shirley's eyes lifted from her phone, and when they landed on the hospital bed, her smile slightly faded.

She saw Lillian sitting there, her hand instinctively resting on her abdomen.

Her gaze was unfocused, staring out the window into the void, her delicate face looking calm and melancholic.

Yesterday, after Lillian was awakened, she seemed normal except for being a bit weak.

She talked and laughed with them, even making small jokes, making Shirley almost forget that Jackson had said Lillian was suffering from postpartum depression.

Lillian seemed to react a beat slower, blinking and looking at Shirley, then smiling softly. "Shirley, what video were you talking about?"

Seeing her gentle and soft smile, Shirley felt a tug at her heart.
