Chapter 110 "If You Can't Bear to Divorce, Just Say It."
The supporting actress waiting for the reshoot was the famous actress Cordelia whom Lillian had seen at the Sky Gate Club.
The gossip on set was endless, and Cordelia knew that everyone was mocking her, from her temperament and looks to her figure, all overshadowed by the dance double.
She was already furious, and now hearing the director's words, all her grievances came rushing back.
As she was about to go find trouble with Lillian, her agent, Thea Cooper, stopped her. "What do you want to do?"
"Lillian, a dance double, is stealing all the limelight from me!" Cordelia said.
"The director this time is pragmatic, and he hates actors causing trouble on set. If you want to continue filming, just behave yourself!" Thea said.
With a stern warning from Thea, Cordelia held back her anger and nodded with red eyes.
Thea comforted her, "She dances well, but the one who will benefit from the final product is you! Don't be so short-sighted!"
After speaking, Thea turned and left. She chased after Lillian who was about to leave. "I am Thea, Cordelia's agent. You did a great job today, and here is your payment."
Lillian had heard from Shirley that it was common for actors to receive extra payment when their doubles performed well.
Just now, the director's assistant had brought the payment over, so Lillian accepted the payment from Thea and thanked her.
As she turned to leave, Thea added, "Would you consider signing a contract with me to become an official actress? With your looks and charisma, I guarantee that within three years, no, two years, you will become a top star. Shall we discuss the contract?"
Lillian smiled lightly and said, "Thank you for your favor, but my aspirations lie elsewhere. Goodbye."
She refused without hesitation and walked away.
Thea was stunned and amazed by her decisive rejection.
It was a huge temptation to become a top star. Who wouldn't dream of stepping in front of the camera as a dance double?
But she could tell that Lillian's rejection was genuine, not a tactic.
Lillian knew clearly what she wanted. She was strong-willed and decisive. Thea admired her and felt regretful.
She caught up with Lillian after she got into the car and slipped her business card in.
"If you change your mind, give me a call."
Cordelia watched from afar, stomping her foot in frustration.
She returned to the set and got her phone from the assistant.
After leaving the set, Lillian went back to the Peace Mansion.
She remembered there were two jars of red wine left at the Peace Mansion and thought of taking them to Kevin.
Jackson rarely returned to the Peace Mansion, and it was already past four in the afternoon, making it even less likely for him to be there.
As she entered the villa, it was eerily quiet.
She went straight to the wine cabinet, only to find Jackson's collection inside.
Thinking that Daisy might have thought the two bottles of wine were not suitable for guests and had Tina store them in the utility room, Lillian went to the utility room and rummaged through it.
She finally found the wine hidden in the farthest corner. However, as she climbed out with the wine in her arms, her skirt got caught accidentally.
Lillian was wearing a tight straight tube dress, and the tear was quite large, revealing her thigh with any slight movement.
She had no choice but to go upstairs to her bedroom, into the dressing room, and find a pair of jeans.
As she was bending down to take off her skirt, she heard Jackson's deep voice behind her.
"What are you doing?"
Lillian was startled and fumbled in panic. Her skirt got caught, and she stumbled forward.
She screamed and closed her eyes tightly, anticipating the impending fall.
But instead of falling, Jackson caught her, becoming her human cushion.
Lillian was still in shock, and as she hit her chin on Jackson's chest, the pain made her rub it with her hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
Jackson's voice sounded cool and indifferent from below. "If you want a divorce, you don't have to act like a fool."
Lillian opened her eyes and angrily hit his chest.
"You're the fool! If you hadn't scared me by suddenly speaking, would I have fallen? What are you doing here?"
"This is my home." Jackson sneered.
Lillian found his words extremely sarcastic. Had he ever treated this place as a home during their two years of marriage?
He rarely came back, and recently, she seemed to run into him wherever she went.
"That's true, it's your home. I'll leave right away."
Lillian tried to get up, but Jackson's large hand pressed on her lower back, exerting a bit of force.
Lillian fell back onto him, fitting snugly against him, and heard his mocking voice in her ear.
"If you can't bear to divorce, just say it. No need to play hard to get, act coy, or throw yourself at me."
