Chapter 96 Chronic Poison
In the bathroom.
Lillian turned on the shower, letting the water run at its maximum without waiting for it to warm up. She stood under the shower and let the cold water pour over her body.
She scrubbed vigorously, but that sticky and disgusting feeling seemed to linger on her skin, impossible to wash away.
Her hands always seemed to carry a scent of blood.
Lillian tilted her head back, her tears mixing with the water, disappearing without a trace.
She felt pitiful. Even though Wendy answered her emergency call, she didn't hate Jackson.
Because although Jackson didn't come to rescue her, he had taught her the skills to escape.
After the incident at the age of twelve, she was left with a shadow in her heart.
For a while at school, whenever a middle-aged male teacher approached her, she would react excessively, to the point where she couldn't attend school normally.
It was Jackson who rode his bike every day, took her out to relax, and took her to see a psychologist.
She didn't have much trust in the psychologist, so Jackson learned desensitization therapy from the psychologist and researched a lot of materials.
Later, he conducted desensitization training for her.
In a dark environment, he would play various roles for her to overcome and deal with.
He would take her out and accompany her to interact with various middle-aged men. He encouraged and supported her until she was cured.
Without this, when she encountered the situation tonight, Lillian would only be trapped in painful memories, powerless to resist.
Her ability to remain calm and composed at that time was inseparable from his patient companionship and care in the past.
How could she hate him?
He was her family.
But it was also that kind of gentle care that left Lillian deeply wounded after four years of neglect.
The taste of gaining and losing again was like a chronic poison, spreading at all times.
A knock on the door interrupted Lillian's thoughts.
By then, she was already exhausted and squatted in the corner of the wall.
"Lillian! Are you asleep? Open the door."
Jackson had already finished showering in the guest room for forty minutes, but Lillian had not come out of the bathroom yet.
Jackson knocked heavily on the door, but all he could hear was the sound of water inside.
He frowned, took a step back, and was about to kick the door directly when the bathroom door opened.
Lillian was wrapped in a towel. Her face was pale, and her hair was wet.
Jackson's face turned grim. "Lillian, what are you doing?"
Lillian shook her head toward Jackson, and water droplets from her hair splashed onto Jackson's neck, cold as ice.
Jackson grabbed her wrist, and indeed, she was ice-cold all over.
"Lillian! Do you want to die? You're taking a cold shower!"
Looking at Jackson's angry expression, Lillian looked somewhat innocent and dazed.
"Was I using cold water?"
She just felt dirty standing under the shower.
It was so dirty, and she scrubbed desperately, not feeling the cold.
Seeing her lips trembling and her whole body swaying, Jackson wished he could just push her onto the bed and spank her.
He angrily approached her and picked her up.
"Are you out of your mind?"
He tucked Lillian into the blanket, then went back to the bathroom to fill the bathtub with hot water.
After coming out of the bathroom, Lillian curled up under the blanket and shivered from the cold.
Jackson gritted his teeth, wanting to throw her out with the blanket to save himself from the annoyance.
But this thought only lasted less than half a minute in Jackson's mind.
When he came to his senses, he had already taken off his clothes and lay in the bed, stripped Lillian of her bathrobe, and held her tightly in his arms.
He felt like he was hugging a snowman, and even Jackson shivered.
He lowered his head, pressed against her ear, and asked angrily.
"What happened tonight?"
Lillian was acting too abnormal!
Curled up in Jackson's arms, surrounded by warmth and familiarity.
She closed her eyes, feeling her stiff body warming up and reviving.
After waiting for Lillian to speak for a long time, Jackson said in a deep voice, "Speak!"
