Chapter 550

Jackson ultimately didn't pour hot water but instead gave Lillian a cup of hot milk.

He walked back to the living room, placed the cup of milk into Lillian's cold hands, and covered her chilly hand with his large palm. "Drink it slowly."

Lillian felt that the light in the living room was too soft, falling into Jackson's eyes, making his deep blue pupils appear overly gentle.

She avoided his gaze, pulled her hand back from his palm, and said, "Thank you for tonight, but why are you here?"

She took a sip of the milk and looked up to ask.

Jackson had been staying downstairs every night for the past few days, sometimes leaving in the middle of the night, and other times sleeping in his car.

No matter how late he was busy, he would come by. Otherwise, he couldn't sleep back at the Peace Mansion.

He was glad he came early today, but he had previously promised Lillian that he wouldn't come to disturb her before sending Star away.

To ease his guilt, he changed the subject. "You're sweating on your forehead. I'll get a towel to wipe it for you."

Jackson wrung out a hot towel and leaned over to wipe Lillian's face while Lillian put down her half-finished milk and said, "I'll do it myself."

Jackson paused but didn't insist.

Just as Lillian took the towel, her phone rang in her pocket.

She thought she had calmed down, but she underestimated the terrors of her childhood trauma.

The ringtone startled her, her hand jerking and sending the towel tumbling onto the blanket. She trembled like a frightened bird.

Jackson picked up the towel, pulled her into his arms, firmly grabbed her shoulders to prevent her from struggling, and carefully wiped her face.

The hot towel soothed her tense skin, making Lillian's nose tingle with a bit of sourness.

Jackson raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you going to answer the phone?"

As Jackson wiped Lillian's hands, the ringtone was still ringing. Lillian finally came to her senses and fumbled to get her phone out.

It was a call from Shirley, but just as Lillian touched the screen, the call automatically ended.

The screen recognized her face and unlocked automatically.

The operating page was still on the chat with Terry, and Lillian's fingertip just touched the screen. The next second, the video started playing automatically.

Jackson's deep voice echoed in the living room. "Yes, I love her. We had many misunderstandings before..."

Jackson paused, and Lillian was stunned. Then she hurriedly tried to turn off the video.

Clearly, it was Terry who sent it to her voluntarily, maybe even at Jackson's behest.

'Why am I feeling guilty?' she wondered.

It seemed like she was secretly spying on him, paying attention to him, but she wasn't!

After the video ended, the living room fell into an even longer and more awkward silence.

Lillian pressed her lips, just about to say something when Jackson's light laughter sounded in her ear. "When did you bribe Terry? How come I didn't know?"

Lillian looked up angrily. "Who bribed Terry! I have no interest in what you do, say, or who you're with! Can you dare say this video wasn't made by Terry at your request?"

Jackson met her fiery, angry gaze and saw her vividly furious expression. He let out a sigh of relief, thinking she must have calmed down from the shock of seeing Bob earlier.

He really wished she had bribed Terry, but he knew deep down it was just wishful thinking.

But he decided to tease her, his thin lips curving slightly. "Of course not! But you look very much like someone who's been exposed and is now angry out of embarrassment.

"Lillian, if you want to know whether I've met Star alone, you can ask me directly, or if you want to hear my confession, I can also..."

Before he could finish, Lillian grabbed the towel and threw it directly at Jackson's teasingly handsome face. "If you didn't tell him to do this," she hissed, "then control your assistant better!"

Jackson pulled the towel away, just in time to see Lillian delete the video and add Terry to the blacklist.

A flash of frustration crossed Jackson's eyes; clearly, Lillian was angry.
