Chapter 304 You Had Been Through so Much
Lillian's face blushed slightly with guilt, and she couldn't look at Lyra's joyful expression.
She nodded. "Grandma, I'm sorry. I knew how much you were looking forward to Jackson and me having a baby, but I still kept it a secret."
Lillian couldn't lift her head in shame, but Lyra hugged her directly, patting her back and saying, "Lillian, you've been through so much."
As a woman herself, Lyra knew how much grievance and accumulated disappointment it took for Lillian to decide to hide her pregnancy and leave to raise the child alone.
Lyra smiled and said, "You fool. I'm too happy and heartbroken to blame you. Being pregnant is wonderful!"
A light sound made Lillian look over.
It turned out that Daisy's handbag had fallen to the ground. At this moment, she was staring at Lillian's belly with a look of astonishment and a complex expression.
"Are you really pregnant? You knew you were pregnant all along, knew Jeffrey was waiting to help, and still kept it a secret," Daisy questioned, and her face quickly showed anger.
She thought Lillian did it on purpose. She must have known long ago that the child in Wendy's belly wasn't Jackson's, waiting for this moment to humiliate her.
Lillian saw her make a fool of herself and pretended to want a divorce, all because she had the Frane Family's child in her belly.
"Shut up!" Lyra's face darkened, and she angrily interrupted Daisy's excessive words.
Daisy was shocked and then saw Jackson's cold expression.
The look he gave her was as if he were looking at a stranger, not his mother.
Daisy's expression stiffened, and she clenched her hands tightly.
Seeing this, Lyra patted Lillian's hand again and said gently, "Lillian, I didn't know about your pregnancy today, so I didn't bring a gift for the baby. I'll make up for it next time."
Lillian shook her head and said, "When Taylor is born, you can give it then. It's still early."
Lyra smiled and touched Lillian's belly, saying, "The baby is named Taylor? It's a nice name, suitable for both boys and girls. Taylor, I'm your great-grandma. Grow up quickly so we can meet soon."
Lillian pressed her lips, looking down at her still-flat belly with a gentle gaze.
She didn't notice that as she stared at her belly, Jackson, sitting next to her, was also gazing at her, not looking away for a moment.
He smiled gently, his eyes gleaming with warmth.
Daisy stood nearby, looking out of place.
Lyra stood up at this moment and said, "You two probably have a lot to talk about, so I won't get in your way."
With Daisy's involvement, Lyra's good mood had vanished.
Lillian quickly stood up and said, "Let me see you off, Grandma."
"No need. You sit down and don't move!" Lyra pressed Lillian back onto the hospital bed as if she were a fragile treasure.
Lyra then instructed Jackson, "Take good care of Lillian. If she gets hurt again, don't call me Grandma anymore!"
After saying that, Lyra left with Daisy. Once they were out of the ward, the smile on Lyra's face disappeared.
They remained silent on the way to the car. Daisy sat next to Lyra, feeling a bit nervous.
Lyra's face was stern, and she was clearly angry. Daisy was somewhat afraid of her.
"Mom, I'm just worried that Lillian doesn't know her limits. If she keeps stressing the baby, what if something happens..." Unable to withstand the pressure, Daisy started to defend herself first.
Lyra shot her a cold glare.
