Chapter 82 Is Wendy's Child Yours?
"Swiftly quell the online rumors! Also, go pick up Lilian for lunch at noon. I expect a video call from both of you!" The command was clear and concise."Understood." As soon as the call ended, Jackson beckoned Terry into his office."Neutralize the online rumors."Terry's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Jackson had never shown much concern for such trivial gossip before. He had always maintained that the Star Group's reputation was built on its strength, and the boss's private life had little bearing on it. He had never wanted to squander the company's public relations resources on personal affairs.Due to professional circumstances, Jackson had been implicated in a rumor or two with female celebrities in the past, but they had never been addressed. As Jackson had always said, once the hype died down, it was over. But this time, it seemed he wanted to intervene.
"Alright, Mr. Jackson, I will instruct the public relations department right away."Could it be that Ms. Lillian was the reason for Mr. Jackson's sudden change of heart? As Terry was about to exit the room, Jackson issued another order.
"Find out where she is and book a restaurant."He didn't specify who 'she' was, but Terry caught on quickly.Terry was a man of efficiency, and he returned in less than ten minutes, albeit with a hint of hesitation."Mr. Jackson, Ms. Lillian is currently at a Mermaid-themed restaurant."Jackson rose from his seat, grabbed his suit jacket, and made for the door."Who is she dining with?"He glanced at his watch, noting that it was still a bit early for lunch.Terry hesitated before responding, "Mr. Jackson, you'll find out if you go see for yourself."The Bentley pulled up smoothly outside the restaurant. Just as Jackson was about to open the door, his phone buzzed. It was Daisy.Jackson cast a glance at the screen, chose not to answer, and switched off the phone. He stepped out of the car and made his way into the restaurant. The lunch rush was in full swing. The restaurant was dimly lit, creating an ambiance reminiscent of the deep sea, with most tables unoccupied. However, the large glass tank in the center was a hub of activity, with guests snapping photos and recording videos on their phones. The excited chatter of children filled the air, lending a lively, if somewhat noisy, atmosphere to the place.Jackson felt a twinge of annoyance. His phone continued to vibrate insistently, as if it wouldn't stop until he answered. Finally, Jackson gave in and answered the call. Daisy's voice, fraught with urgency, echoed in his ear."Jackson, Wendy is pregnant! Why haven't you divorced Lillian and married her yet?"Jackson's expression hardened as he responded in a low voice, "How do you know she's pregnant?"Not spotting Lillian, his icy gaze turned to Terry.Terry gestured towards the crowd, and Jackson, his brows furrowed, made his way over. Thanks to his towering height, he could see the mermaid swimming in the large glass tank, even from behind the crowd. She was clad in a large silver fishtail that barely covered her hips, and her upper body was almost bare, save for two small seashell-shaped bras that left little to the imagination. Her long hair flowed behind her like seaweed in the water. She held a red rose between her teeth, smiling and blowing kisses to the captivated audience. She looked every bit the enchanting deep-sea mermaid, her beauty mesmerizing. But the sight also made Jackson's head spin, and his handsome face turned a shade of livid. His face was a mask of fury, and in that moment, Daisy's voice rang in his ear once more."Is the child in Wendy's belly yours? Is it my grandchild, Jackson? I want you to divorce Lillian immediately and marry Wendy."
