Chapter 450
Susan was nearing the end of her life. Who'd dare mess with her?
She held Wendy tight, and even Harry didn't dare take her away.
Wendy buried her face in Susan's arms, glanced at Lillian, and smirked.
"Mom, don't say that. You need to take care of yourself. The Price family can't afford to lose anyone else!" she moaned pitifully.
They hugged and cried, each feeling justified.
Just then, the hospital room door opened.
Dominic's stern voice came from the doorway. "Jackson, what are you doing? Let go!"
"Mom!"
The long-haired woman who entered with Dominic ran to the bedside.
She sat down, gently patted Susan's back, and looked at Jackson with a pitiful expression. "Jackson, what happened? My mom isn't well. Can we talk outside?"
Lillian was slightly shaken, looking at the long-haired woman.
This must be the real Star.
She was the woman Jackson had abandoned their wedding for, traveling miles to bring her back.
Lillian had said she didn't care, but now she couldn't help but stare at Star, feeling a bit breathless.
She was slender, beautiful, and pale, with delicate features that hadn't changed much from the photos.
Lillian recognized her instantly. In childhood photos, she was sunny and cheerful, with a lively smile.
But now, her eyes were sorrowful and timid, her expression fragile like glass.
Her pleading, panicked, and dependent gaze at Jackson was truly pathetic.
Lillian's gaze moved up to Jackson.
Sure enough, Jackson was looking down at Star, his eyes no longer sharp.
In Lillian's eyes, he seemed very gentle.
Maybe Jackson felt Lillian's gaze because he suddenly turned to look at her.
Lillian didn't avoid it, crossing her arms and curling her lips mockingly.
Star, seeing Jackson's silence, timidly tugged at his sleeve.
"Jackson?" Star called out to him.
Jackson, meeting Lillian's cold gaze, frowned slightly.
The expectant look on Lillian's face made him uncomfortable. Did she really not care at all?
He lowered his eyes and was about to brush off Star's tug, but then he noticed Star's missing fingers.
He paused and softened his voice.
"Star, I don't want to disturb Godmother either. We can talk outside, but Wendy must come with us."
Susan immediately tightened her hold on Wendy. "No! No one can take Wendy and the child away!"
Her chest heaved, and her rapid breathing sounded alarming.
Star anxiously tried to calm her while Dominic frowned angrily.
"Jackson, I know what happened at your wedding! It was all Lillian's fault. Fortunately, Daisy and Wendy weren't hurt; only an insignificant person fell.
"The Frane family's reputation was damaged. Instead of dealing with Lillian behind closed doors, why are you here?"
Lillian suddenly sneered, "An insignificant person? She has a name, Shirley! If it weren't for her, Wendy would have fallen down the steps long ago, and the child in her belly, the Price family's only heir, would be dead!
"What now? The Price family does someone a favor, and they have to be bound for life. Yet, when faced with others' kindness, do you brush it off so lightly?
"Indeed, people like you always have double standards."
Dominic's face darkened, and he glared at Lillian with fierce eyes.
